      Good point. I hate it when she's called a pop artist. I hate pop music, so she can't be a pop artist! I've always said, she's her own genre.

    Hello again!
    Like your reaction to AURORA a lot.
    Keep going there are so many song from her which are stellar. Hope you get to my favourite live performance ever been made. AURORA - Lucky live in Nidarosdomen. That one is going sky high. Have a nice day.

  • @Tarkus_
    @Tarkus_ Рік тому +13

    Great suggestion and great reaction! I really love this song and this performance in particular. It's a little on the rockier side for Aurora, and I like watching her rock out a little bit. She's a metal fan, so why not? The song before this one, and the set opener, "Black Water Lilies" is also awesome. Crazy good vocals on that one. I hope you get to that one also at some point.
    And I'm with you, Aurora was so far out of my wheelhouse when I first discovered her, but man, she just hits different. I'm just glad I was open-minded enough to allow her into my world, because younger me would have never given her the chance. Now I can't get enough of her. And yeah, what an inspiration!

      I could have watched her at festivals here in Norway, but chose a different band/stage as I early on decided she wasn't for me. Ignored her for years, until one day checking bands on YT (was going to a metal festival), I stumbled over a reaction video and decided to check what the big deal was. Have listened to her A LOT after that day, and seen her live twice. I could kick myself, but better late than never I guess😄

  • @Einyen
    @Einyen Рік тому +8

    Very nice reaction. I haven't seen her explain the lyrics to this song, and she likes for people to form their own interpretations.
    To me "under the water" could be a metaphor for any abusive thing, that we do to ourselves like drug abuse, alchoholism, smoking etc. etc. Why do we "jump in" when "under the water" will kill us. "So many souls that lost control, where did they fall?"
    But there is hope as well, we can "swim" and survive it: "Hearts will dream again, Lungs will breathe in, Wash away the sins, It's where it begins, Feet won't fail you now, Arms won't let you down, Wash away the sins"

    Great choice! A bit unusual for her, but in my opinion she can do no wrong, and I really love this one. The rest of this show is great, and has the best version of "I Went To Far" IMO. Apparently she wasn't a 100% (they did more than 200 shows in 2016, which is nuts), but still one of my favorite performances of hers. She doesn't do a lot of rock, but I think "The Seed" is a rock song. Highly recommended, and one of very few where I recommend the music video. There are a number of great live versions, but the music video is more in your face😊.

      The fact she would OPEN shows back then with Black Water Lilies is nuts.
      Just because of how vocally demanding that song is. The melody has tons of big interval jumps and upper chord extensions, etc. Sounds almost like a melody Brian Wilson would write...even the way the arrangement is like this "pocket symphony" of lots of disparate parts that ebb and flow in cool ways. I wonder if she would open shows with this song as a way to "get the hard part over with" so she could just relax and know she's got this. Sort of a power move that I imagine must boost her confidence for the rest of the show. :)

      @@avedic WOW, really? I just know I love it, I have no musical talent and therefore I have no clue as to what she is doing, only know that she is knocking it out of the park (for me) every time she opens her mouth to sing, lol, or talk. Thanks for the insight. She is incomparable. 😍

  • @Geralt26
    @Geralt26 Рік тому +3

    Yea. From one point of view you can call some song popy (indie pop, electro pop, art pop, folk or something), but if so it is like different kind of pop :). She has her own style and it is just Aurora music with her uniqueness and i love her music :). In this particular song/performance I feel a little rock inspiration too :).

    I am so happy to see other discovering Aurora. I. Am usually not drawn to a voice like hers, but the first time I heard her a little over 2 years ago I could not get enough… I think there is something about her that just can’t be explained. I have many song recommendations, but for some reason Through The Eyes of A Child came first in mind to recommend to you. This version is A Capella live studio. The harmonies with her band will make you melt. ua-cam.com/video/CFzExUN1N8I/v-deo.html. The other song is the official video of The Seed, but you may not find it on UA-cam at the moment

    This IS a good one. She also sported such a _cool_ luck around this time...with those thin braids hanging down. I love when she would whip her body and the braids would snap through the air. Cool visual...

    I'm just pumped for you because there's another 20 songs of hers you haven't heard yet and every one of them will hit you. Nice
    I absolutely love this song and performance, but then I do love almost all her songs, maybe a couple I’m not huge fan of lol
    Aurora said to The 405:
    "I love to sing this song live. It reminds me of my roots. It's dark, a bit folky and it got tiny inspirations on percussion etc. from some Norwegians metal bands. I love heavy metal".
    To her, it is more cathartically emotional than 'emo':
    "I've always been very drawn to sadness and to nightmares and to scary stories or going out in the dark - I don't know why. There's something mystical about it - which is very exciting, isn't it?"
