I have this exact one, huge fan over here
Thanks 👍🏻
Looks good. I installed longer cord on mine. This was easier than adding new outlet for me!
I was thinking of doing that! Did you cut an extension cord or buy an aftermarket cord?
Bought 14/3 9 ft appliance cord @ Depot
Nice job!
Thanks 😊
Nice job on install in the video
Thanks 😊
@@handydadtv you’re welcome
Thanks for content! How was wiring into unit head, any issues or frustrations with instructions?
Really straightforward. The wall control is polarized (I found out the hard way but it was easy to fix). But the SafeTBeams aren’t polarized.
Thank you!
How would you say this compared to the wall mounted one you installed previously in terms of noise?
Wall mounted was quieter, but not by much.
I thought you could wire an open close button from the main unit over towards the door. That's what I did, but I have an older genie unit. Should still do the same.
That’s a good idea 👍🏻
@@handydadtv for the record, you don't need one of the fancy buttons. Mine is just a doorbell button.
Nice job! I’ve installed many and every time I do my test at the end, it is pitch dark outside…
That’s because guys like us take our time and don’t quit until it’s done. ✅
The Aladdin integration is currently not working in Home Assistant. Genie claims that it will be available "soon". If you want it to work now a dry contact relay and a contact sensor will work with these models.
Yes, you are correct. I believe it is a temporary setback but Genie will continue to be friendly to local home automation.
Have you tried to integrate with Home Assistant? I haven't found a way to make it work.
The Aladdin integration is temporarily disabled while they revamp the API. alerts.home-assistant.io/alerts/aladdin_connect_2/
Is a belt drive the best way to go ? Should it have a DC motor too ?
I prefer belt drive because they’re quieter. No preference on the motor.
Curious why you didn't go with a wall mounted garage opener for this video ?
Variety.
Is it fast when it opens?
It opens faster than it closes. Probably for safety.
Thank you. I have an old sommer drive unit that opens v slowly. i might replace it this spring.@@handydadtv
You mounted your opener too high and that will cause a downforce on the top section when it goes to close the door and may bend the top section as it closes if it comes in contact with a obstacle and that also is why the other installer put an angle reinforcement across the top of the section.
I followed the directions and measured the placement based on the highest arc of the door. Time will tell.
@@handydadtv yes you would think a manufacturer would know the best way to install there product but unfortunately that is not always true I installed doors for 40 years starting in 1972 retired 10 years ago
Genie?? Cheapest openers in the market 😂
False. ua-cam.com/video/dEdr86jAz54/v-deo.html
@@handydadtv you gonna tell me false??

@@handydadtv you funny dude
@jimakcelik6486 I just installed a Chamberlain that was cheaper than a Genie.
Absolute garbage too. If you want a Quality garage door opener that is reliable and quiet buy LiftMaster or Chamberlain product. Not this genie garbage.
You’re entitled to your opinion, but I have used lots of Genie openers and have no issue with their quality.
@@handydadtvhe always spews these irrelevant opinions just ignore it. Genie is actually better quality than most other mainstream openers in todays world
@@Bloopers-bp6delet me guess? This guy's been going from video to video talking trash about this product
