Yes he's the real hero should have ended then. NOT the boy swimming. Here's my view on the boy. He's 16 and should remain anonymous. But people about to be very upset when feds break it down from start to finish. Other than him swimming to defend another human being. He made things so much worse. The fight had been broken up before he got out the water. Hes then worked up by the crowd and takes it upon himself to do something. He carry out a dangerous rock bottom on someone who never laid a hand on anyone, then proceeds to stamp on his head with 1 other man. When that man's wife trys to pull them off he knocks her to the ground. Clearly lapping up the crowd with a dangerous immature mentality. Been better off staying on the boat

@@Matt_0G that's the conundrum about street fights. Who gets to decide when the fight is over? If someone is retreating but the other person is still raging, is the fight still happening? At least with sanctioned combat sports, there is a bell that signals the end of a fight.

@@hard2hurtthere is *a lot* more information and context that you don't know and it is currently available. There's multiple recordings from different angles and there's been an interview with the captain of the commercial boat who works on the riverfront. He provided even more information prior to the recording and even historical context from years back.
      1) The people on the pontoon were the *ATTACKERS.*
      2) The people on the pontoon parked their boat illegally and have been told *MULTIPLE* times to move their boat so that the large commercial boat can park. They refused and even flipped off the captain.
      3) They purposefully left their private boat parked there illegally and left to go eat and drink. That's how entitled and brazen they were.
      4) Instead of towing their boat and giving them a fine, the man they will eventually attack and jump, who works for the riverfront, simply moved it out of the parking zone of the commercial boat.
      5) The people in the pontoon have prior history of belligerent acts. This isn't their first time being belligerent, entitled and hostile.
      6) The guy in blue in the beginning who was a 16 year-old crewmember.
      7) The person swimming was also a 16 year-old crewmember who was in the commercial boat watching the violent pontoon people attack and jump the *INNOCENT* man from beginning.
      8) Again, the people in that pontoon have a history of harassment down there on the riverfront. The police refused to take serious action in the past. They could have prevented these people from causing the attack that occurred that day.
      9) The people in the pontoon were not _"radicalized by the violence"_ as they have been inherently violent and have been *ENTITLED* due to never facing consequences for their misdeeds for years by being able to harass the people on the riverfront with no to little repercussions from law enforcement. And this is despite the crewmembers calling the police and filing reports on them.

One thing I learn from these videos and others like it is that everyone pretty much does the same things, and it's never like how a lot of these "self defense guys" act like it is. People always say in street fights there are no rules but that's actually not true. Very rarely do you see eye gouging and biting. But what do you see? Shoving and grappling. People I think have certain intuitions about how they should behave in these situations and seem to act accordingly.

Agreed. But we should also be careful to distinguish between social and anti social violence.
Most self defense dorks train for anti social violence which is the extreme minority of violence, and in that kind of violence we would expect a higher level of violence compared to what we see here (although as a whole, I don’t think I’ve ever seen much in the way of eye gouging in the streets)
This is social violence. This is that primitive part of our brain going “I’ve/my group has been disrespected and I’m going to posture and shout and throw ineffectual slaps and grab things”.
And it shows in how few injuries there were overall. Our instincts on social violence are literally evolved to not be super injurious because the goal isn’t to murder the opposition, it’s to establish dominance and respect. (It’s the same shit you see with deer that fight. You’ll notice it’s rare for them to actually injure one another because they have to partake in it fairly often to procreate and if they were at serious risk of injury the species would probably die off).
Anti social violence is that semi-rare thing (in the developed world anyway) where someone calmly and intentionally decides ahead of time that their goal is to main or kill you.

The "I see red" guys and "I'm a street fighter, no rules means I'll kill people." and yet Mike is always spot on that short of a few folks, everyone there is flailing and being ineffective.
Great job Mike, and also spot on with your statement that the only people who should enter fights like this are people who can ACTUALLY help the situation. Way too many folks in there doing absolutely nothing but confusing folks and making the whole thing bigger.

    • @theaikidoka
      @theaikidoka Рік тому +4

Almost all of those people that say things like that are posturing and trying to establish dominance verbally. They have rarely, if ever, actually fought. They want to present a facade of being so tough that no-one wants to fight them. Keyboard warriors and overweight middle-aged guys are absolutely notorious for it - it's an ego-driven thing.
The VERY small minority of people that are hair-trigger aggressive and DO actually damage people tend to either get damaged themselves due to constant fighting, or end up in prison due to not being able to control themselves. Unless you hang around in biker bars all the time, you probably won't meet any of them - they definitely aren't middle-managers at Walmart.

The security guard was asking the pontoon boat to move so the riverboat could dock and let off the passengers. The pontoon boat refused to move. Also worth noting is how many people get sucker punched - being an awesome one-on-one fighter counts for nothing if you can't see or control the environment and who is around you.

I have found that the most effective way to break up a fight is to get in between the two fighters, push them apart, and tell them both in a commanding voice to cut it out. You might take a few glancing blows, but they typically don’t connect and it is the price you pay for breaking up the fight.
I found this the best way because if you pull someone off the other person from behind, then you set up the person you are pulling to get sucker punched. Usually, you either pull your friend off and he gets sucker punched, or you pull the other guy off and you friend sucker punches him (which sets you up as the bad guy ).

Once a public brawl starts you never know where it is going or how it will escalate. Got sucked into 1 and avoided 1 while in the Navy. Save you the entire story but 4 of us walked into a nightclub to find a couple of our guys outnumbered and taking a beating. We weighed in and beat down the attackers. Later found out one of our guys started it by feeling up a girl on the dance floor. He was getting what he deserved until we intervened. Avoided a Marine v Navy brawl that started over nothing by grabbing a Marine I knew by the collar, he put me in a headlock and we wrestled all the way to the exit and left. Everyone else got arrested and nobody knew how it started. Which is what you did a great job of illustrating, how person after person stepped into chaos and confusion without knowing what happened or why. Let alone anything about right and wrong. Fools want to drink and fight, call the cops and let them fight until the cops arrive to settle it. Great video.

Well... besides tying up a 911 operator who can't answer a phone line for an actual emergency.
