Mikey didn’t make the yarn, he’s just explaining how to use it. Love HIM!!! He taught me everything I know and because of him am an advanced crocheter! ☺️
So pretty and soft. I got it on sale and made an XL top for about $22. It's so special nothing else looks like it with the unique color mix.
Thank you
I just bought it ...gonna try it
I actually am stunned over why they even made this.
I love the color combinations, the yarn is super soft, however you don't get enough to do much of anything with and it's expensive. Not to mention all the work you have to go through just to be project ready
I should have watched this first before I ended up with hopeless tangles. Thank you so much!!
I have made scarves with this yarn and they are wonderfully soft. Unwrapping the hanks just takes patience which no one seems to have anymore. Crafting should be about the "doing" and not rush, rush, rush. I'd be glad to take what you all don't want!
It has been exactly 1 year to the date of this video and now these Pantones are on clearance for $3.97 at Michael’s!
And we will not even buy it again at that price. Lol
I finally bought a few because they were marked way down. I like the yarn but I hate untangling..
I actually love working with these, and though it may be a bit extra to wind each one, it is helpful when you only need a small amount. As far as pricing goes any true Michael's shopper knows that they always have great sales and coupons so rarely will someone pay the actual 7.99. I love it for hat projects, and since I make a lot of one of a kind creations for my customers this yarn works great and the feel is amazing.
Thank you for your feedback! We'll pass it along to our team.
When I was a child sixty years ago in Ireland the majority of yarn was sold in skeins like this. I remember vividly my aunt who was a champion knitter buying the quantity she needed then she would spend a whole night winding them up to use. Guess who was the hands volunteered. Then I remember the first time you were able to buy a ball of yarn, so expensive and so convenient. In truth I never want to return to skein days as it was a pain to roll. The yarn itself is beautiful and in away I can see where Caron is coming from in that how many of us buy cakes and then carve them up to get the colour pattern we need. It was a good idea to have a niche product like this available. However they have to make a profit so the price is high. I think that no matter how beautiful it is, once the novelty has worn off unfortunately it will not be a big seller. At least they should be thanked for trying out the concept. The colour schemes are beautiful and perhaps they could offer it as a cake alternate. Just a thought.
Thank you Mikey! You make everything so easy to understand! Love this beautiful yarn!
I feel like one the few voices that really like this yarn. The price point is high, but how many of us pay full price at Michaels, they have some great coupons to bring the price down. I appreciate that the colours aren't joined together in a cake, I was originally concerned about that, I just finished a project with Caron Cakes for my granddaughter and ended up cutting the cake apart to use only the colours that I needed. As for winding the hanks into balls, I know a lot of crafters who rewind their skeins and cakes into whatever they feel most comfortable with. The packaging is very eye-catching and the colour curating is beautiful, there are also single colour packs that can mix and match with the multi-colour pack. I would like to know if the single colour pack is a single hank or multiple, our Micheals didn't have the display finished when I was there last. I think everyone has valid points and I hope Yarnspirations does listen as to the price point issue especially.
Thank you for this video! I love the colors of the braids I bought a LONG time ago but had been dreading taking them apart. I can finally start a project 😆
Nope, too expensive for the yardage and it's a pain to have to ball it up. I'll pass on this one.
For those who only knit or crochet once in a great while, this may be a great thing to buy. Just enough for a project with little left over. For the rest of us, I like to purchase full skeins and have enough left over to do something else.
Pass. It splits, its exspensive fot no yardage. One garment would cost almost $200.00 to make. No thank you.
I got color pallets from paint store, match up colors that way. Mitch cheaper and nicer...
Thank you for this handy tutorial! I tend to avoid hanks because of how easily it gets tangled. This prep makes sense and should help me avoid all that. Was gifted this yarn. Cant wait to start!! Thank you Mikey! 🎄
I like the concept until you opened it and it turned into a massive project to get it undone, tied together and set to use - sounds like way too much trouble - sorry Caron - I Love love your yarn but this is kinda silly.
Thoroughly and clearly explained!
I have used the top corner of a wooden chair to rewind a hank, with limited success🤨. Thanks for pointers!
I cannot wait to knit with this yarn!
Hello Caron x Pantone x Michael’s!🤓
Excited to see your project Greta!
Just bought some on sale and was confused about opening. Ty for clear instructions
This looks like really pretty yarn and I can't wait to make something. I have an electric ball winder so this will be a a no brainer! Thanks Mikey! ❤️
Thanks for the suggestions. I have used the back of a chair to wind this type of yarn. Never thought of using my knee.
MIKEY..DUDE LOLOL 1ST i bumped into this yarn at Michaels the other day..LOVE @1ST SIGHT~ 2ND Need coups so Ill try to purch another time. 3RD!! WWOWW!! THANK U THANK YA THANK YOU!! I HAVE a giant STOP..DON'T PASS GO & NEVER PURCHASE A HANK Flashing in my face when I see them anywhere. You Have skilfully and wonderfully succeeded it RIPPING THAT NASTY OL SIGN RIGHT OUT OF ITS CEMENT FOUNDATION AND JOYFULLY CAST IT INTO A RECYCLING PILE!! LOLOL i had the idea because Im one person only 2 arms.. my pup might want to help hold yarn but..ya know~ lol Thinking I couldnt do it alone or without a swift was a Yarn blocker. No More, Your a doll Xs
I've used my knees, my feet, even wrapped it around the end of a small table, whatever works! And now I use a nostepinne to help make pretty little yarn cakes 😊
I think that It's too expensive for a little amount of yarn, besides that unwrap thing that you have to do in order to start your proyect seems like a waste of time. Dear Yarnspirations The main idea it's good, maybe you should put a bigger amount of yarn and put it together in one single line, no knots, no waste of time.
Thanks for the tutorial. Just got some from Michael's on sale and needed to know how to unwrap it
Samantha Cuevas so ridiculous to have to watch a tutorial video to open a package of yarn. ugh! mine is a tangled mess
That’s funny in the olden days when my husband wasn’t around I used my feet
Now I know why this yarn was on clearance
Just bought this for the first time today! $7 each @ Michaels. Didn’t know it would have to be pre-rolled but I’m hoping it makes a good pair of mittens ... looks complicated to me. Also have to make sure I do a gauge check. There are no extras with this yarn.
Oh gosh I bought 4 of these . Taking it back . Way too much trouble . Feels great though
I would split this down to a thinner ply, as this would go nowhere. Why would you make it so short?. You just get started, then you would have to stop to join in more. Silly silly silly
Ros Lyle West Aust.
chris lyle
well, the colors are separated. He did not cut the colors apart, they come like that. You can see it when there are the separate hanks
Perfect tutorial…thank you! I was brushed off by a yarn store and they even lacked the curiosity by stating, they’ve never seen a braid before and thought they were doing me a favor by referring me to Michaels craft store to ask them..oh well, I digress, yet disappointing. I can’t thank you enough!
Thank you for showing me how to ball up a hank of yarn
I put hanks on my knees too! I'm crazy and have done lace weight like this.
Would 1 braid be enough to make a regular hat? The colors are so awesome and I’m dying to get to Michael’s this weekend!
Yes. They have some patterns up for this yarn. There's A couple hats.
I just finished a hat using their pattern, and for whatever reason it ended up being pretty small. I'll give it to a kid. I used up the yardage--only had a little bit leftover--so I'm not sure what happened there. The colors are beautiful, the concept is interesting. But I don't think I'll be doing this again.
@@lizbiz2013 Did you check your gauge?
For $7.99 they want you to wrap it around friends hands, put it around a jar and put it around your knees, what are we talking about here, lol???
Paid $3.99 a hank (one year later). But that's how I roll. I just wait for the sales even if it takes a while...
Thank you for this video...can you recommend unisex beanie/hat pattern for this yarn?
Thanks!
While I agree that it's a very small amount of yarn, maybe if you want to just make ONE project, like a hat or a scarf, and don't want a lot of leftover stash yarn, these would be very nice for that. However, and I love some of the colors, I would want the extra yarn from a regular hank. I have no issues winding them. I'm surprised and all the folks in here saying it's too much work. Oh well. The back of a chair works really well Mikey, as do feet, but I messed a few skeins up using my feet. I have a winder now, but the chair is my second go-to. Using my knee like that would hurt my back too much.
Is the hank pack to give the illusion of a very high quality yarn? In the world of crafting when it comes to yarn, I want budget friendly. Caron Cakes were a genius marketing concept and a wonderful product. And very affordable for the amount of yarn yardage. I will need to check out the display at my local store. Might be too much fiddling around for me.
You don't need to cut the knot that holds each hank together - it's loose enough to be carefully untied.
In the UK right now, The Works have a sale on, with each braid reduced to £2.50! I'm using it to make the floral afghan.
Its funny reading all the comments from those who've only ever used cheap skein acrylic.
I think it's funny that you can't see how ridiculous it is that they had to create 7 minute video on how to open their packaging. Guess you needed it? Lol
I bought alot of these yarns for half price and I didn't know that you had to unravel them like this 🙁
This is first time I bought this yarn. It's beautiful yarn but I ended up with yarn throw-up. It took me forever to untangle. Thanks for tutorial.
I bought a bunch of this when it was on sale for 3.99. I still think it was too expensive for the amount you get.
Great suggestions so is toilet paper rolls I know cheap sounding for yarn that’s trying to mimic LYS yarn I am aware there is 20% Merino in the yarn but the packaging is overly extravagant making a lover be drawn right to it.
Wow. Didn't realize this when buying... seriously considering returning, even though they were on clearance, because obviously no one wanted to pay for such a pain in the butt.
I have a question you have a sweater that I would like to crochet but I'm having trouble with its call over easy cowl sweater how do you keep the design on the same side thank you can someone please help me.
What can i do with this?? I only got 1 package. Looks small to make something big enough
I bought these on clearance.... at least 3 years ago. Still unused.
I agree with everyone... even working for Michaels and having the discount, I think that this yarn is very expensive. The colors and the softness are good though... cheers!
Thanks for your feedback Beatriz. As this is a merino blend, it's definitely a yarn we'd reserve for special projects. ;)
Disaster averted! Thanks, Mikey!
I didn’t panic and it was still a disaster. I would NOT have purchased this yarn if I had known it would be this complicated to get into a ball without tangling!!!!
The yarn looks really nice, but I know I would make a huge mess trying to wind it up into a ball...
Nice colors but too much work to get started - why couldn't it be pre-rolled? The price point for the yardage - meh : |
If you ever buy any high end yarn, they generally come in hanks that have to be wound like this.
So happy -- I recently saw a demo on the yarn swift and I'd definitely get one along with a yarn winder if I decide to buy high end fibers in the future. Yay : )
Okay what the heck is the name of that umbrella thing that Mikey has that you put the Hanks on to wind them with the winder. I bought enough of this to make a shawl. I'm not whining 35 Hanks in to balls like in the video I will go crazy.
Got some of this on clearance for uber cheap, the colors are beautiful and it's super soft but the yarn quality is terrible - it splits the moment you start working with it.
Oh they just pieces of yarn
Why is this even done????
A lot of yarn is sold in hanks. High end yarn usually, especially hand dyed.
Rachel Welke....... its just a gimmck to sell it. i predict a huge markdown on unsold hanks.
shady Lnu you’re right . They’re on liquidation at michaels
I like the idea of Pantone yarn, but I do NOT like how they pulled it off. It is not a lot of yardage, expensive, and a pain in the rear end in order to even start using it! Thank you for this tutorial on how to getting this yarn ready to use.
Glad you found this tutorial helpful! We'll forward your comments to our product team.
It’s already marked half off, at Michaels. I made a nice scarf, but too much work. No reason why Caron couldn’t attach these colors into a prewound skein. Fool me once...
Thank you for your feedback! We'll pass it along to our team.
This was chaos. I'll never buy it again., why would anyone want to untangle and wind it themselves?
Yarn splits and it's a waste of time in pieces. What were you thinking?
Sorry, still not worth 12 bucks!!!!
7.99 @ Michael's
WhatTheKaylyn-7.99 in Canada? Our Michael's does have it now for 9.99, meh
I've tried it just because the packaging is really cute. It's very soft but you can only make one small project with it. Like the idea of it but it's not super practical.
Good lord.
Made in China? But why? :(
what a HUGE HASSLE! i have a mass of brand new HOPELESSLY TANGLED yarn i am 2 seconds from putting in the trash😱
👍
Why, why, why would a yarn company sell such a great soft yarn in such small pieces.. I bought this yarn to to make a baby blanket not a quilt. Was I sold the ends of the runs that were left on the floor? Were they destined for the trash? Did some one come up with this new way to market left overs? Very disappointed.
Seriously, I will never buy this again. Looked cute but totally impractical to have to rewrap before using.
espantoso muy dificil de unir espero regresarlo y me devuelvan mi dinero no sirve
Pantone should pull out of the contract with Caron for this stupid packaging. Caron doesn't even see that having to make a video to explain these ridiculous braids is a waste of everyone's time. It's yarn. Didn't need reinventing.
8 dollars for 127 yds? This is rip off and only paying for the Pantone name. I'll stick with Caron Cakes and Bernat Stripes. Thank you. ☺
I hate hanks, why can't you just make it into balls? Lorraine
$$$
I'd pay more instead of having knots all along my yarn.
......... well.... it's okay if you want to spend loads of money.
Hi Tracey. Thanks for your feedback. Caron x Pantone is a merino and wool blend yarn - definitely one you'd want to use for someone special. ;)
This is ridiculous. I’ll stick with cakes.
Not worth the time and energy!
igree with last comment !!! what a load of nonsense - and what planet are you on !!
