An idea for a story I had once was something based on the various interviews done for documentaries done in the 80s. The interviewee is a scrapman who was part of the process of en mass scrapping steam locomotives. He starts the interview at first talking about being glad for work in the lean times after the war, as he came back from Europe. And then he starts talking about having to cut up living beings, scared and crying. He breaks down about it, crying profusely for several minutes before finding the strength to continue the tale, about the result once an engine dies. And how few of his mates are still around, succumbing to their nightmares. As horrifying as scrapping is from an engine’s perspective, think of how awful it has to be for the person doing the scrapping. Most of us aren’t psychopaths who want to cut up others, and when the machine can talk back to you, show fear at its fate, it can’t do wonderful things to the psyche.
I always how people of that world are... okay with that, the looks of fear, the saddest in there eyes, but worse of all the... screaming dear gosh the screaming, them begging the cutters to stop, but them not caring at all just seeing them as tools to use and for them to be thrown out, like they don't.. have life, gosh when shed 17 showed that scene of Henry screaming and getting chopped up, it's all so wrong.

I feel so sorry for those 08s, they may be old but they still worked so well for their age, but they were forced out of work by new regulations and techniques that meant they weren't needed. Those diesles thought they would have long and prosperous lives but only a few decades later they were simply cast aside and thrown out like trash. I know in real life they didn't feel sad or feelings at all, but here I can imagine those 08s felt so sad, alone and worthless. They definitely didn't deserve to be scrapped, not even Diesel, he may not have been a friendly engine but not even he deserved to be cut up and thrown aside like trash. If I could have done I would have taken in those engines and looked after them. I just hope those engines, or at least some of them were saved and restored like Oliver was.
I know locomotives don’t live irl but if there is something at least 1 person will appreciate it and progress is sad especially when one’s favorite locomotive plane ship ext go to the scrap heap
I kinda want a sequel to this with James and Duck to rescue all of the 08 Diesels that James meet. I don't know why but I think it would be a nice character development for James, Duck and Diesel.
The worst part is this is railway series cannon meaning this is the second appearance of Diesel. No one has seen or heard from him in like 40 years until now.
The story of obsolescence basically. The demand for higher speed, greater power, creature comforts sometimes becomes too great for some older designs. I should know this because my car (a Honda Civic I named Senna) is getting up there in age (almost 14 years). Performance has been obsolete ever since the 1960s but in terms of economy, cars are only just now becoming superior to Senna. Combine that with the fact electric cars are making internal combustion obsolete and emissions regulations become ever tougher.
Question: the route you have use where James took the goods train to the small station, was it been made by hand, or is it on the download station or a trainz website? I'm just a little bit curious. that's all.
It would have been horrible yet darkly hilarious if you'd used the old TV show credits music for the credits sequence in this. Like, no vignette, no fade-in transition, just pure, uncomfortable tonal dissonance.
This is amazing! You should be really proud of this.

There are only 5 diesels on sodor.
Boco, Bear, Daisy, Rusty, Mavis.
Question: the route you have use where James took the goods train to the small station, was it been made by hand, or is it on the download station or a trainz website? I'm just a little bit curious. that's all.
It's on the Download Station.
I see now, thanks.
James knew now that not only steam engines can be scrapped.
Paxton is that you!!
I like how Paxton isn’t an idiot in this one
It would have been horrible yet darkly hilarious if you'd used the old TV show credits music for the credits sequence in this. Like, no vignette, no fade-in transition, just pure, uncomfortable tonal dissonance.
James I got another fact about class 08 shunters they are known as the ubiquitous locomotive.
Where did you leave the word Jeff Hardy's going obsolete
Make rusty and the boulder narrow gauge
Yes please make rusty and the boulder narrow gauge
Nice
Isn't that diesel pacston🤔🤨😲 and poor poor diesel 😫😪😥😣
We'll dieselization is disgraceful. because that's the reason steam locomotives got srcapped one n the first place to begin with.
That desial isn't pacston
What does that mean?
Technically it started in the early seventies when they withdraw all on standards and standards that were smaller populations were also scrapped
Eventually by the 80s you got the hsts and the bigger and stronger diesel locomotive so all the smaller weaker and out dated ones were scrapped
You ever thought of doing Great Waterton?
why would a water tower be in a place that (for the most part) only the diesels would go to?
James sounds like how people usually make papyrus sound
