I built my first diesel heater back in 2021 when I realized I needed a heater to prevent condensation inside my roof top tent while sleeping at night in the winter. It was a life changer as it kept my tent dry and warm! I will never go winter camping without it.
Some of my close friends asked me if I could build a diesel heater for them as well. I built total of 5 more diesel heaters for my close friends. It was quite labour intensive and I realized I was spending a lot of time on my days off doing this when I could be out enjoying other things in life.
A few more close friends approached me and asked if I could build diesel heaters for them. I explained that I was no longer building them but I promised to post a video on how to build one so they can.
After procrastinating for few months, I finally edited the video and posted for those who wished to build a diesel heater themselves! The video is not perfect but I hope it helps.

This video makes me want to build one for sure. Ive been looking at diesel heaters for some time now. A couple questions. Is there a thermostat to regulate inside temp?
Do you have a parts list for the build?
Yes. It comes with a Bluetooth remote but I plug and run the controller up to my roof top tent where I can control the temperature and turn on/off the heater as well. I don’t have a part list but I will try to make one since lot of people have been asking me about it..

After some time using it now, is there anything you would do different with your build? I'm about to pull trigger and order all the parts this weekend
This is actually my 2nd version which few changes have been made from my 1st version. One change I would make is to change the fuel line from the original provided fuel line to a much thinner fuel line made of plastic. This will prevent bubbles forming in the fuel line which can stop the fuel from reaching the diesel heater and stop the heater. I upgraded the fuel line for a friend as he was having issues which it has been resolved by changing the fuel line. I might upgrade mine too and if I do.. I may make a video when I do mine.. 🙂

Why did you add a cooling vent for the heater? I dont think ive seen many people do that before. How necessary do you think it is compared to a sealed unit? I rains a lot where i live and want to build this project in my 1500 case, but worried about rain getting inside. Is it critical to have it vented? Are there other ways to vent that dont let rain or snow in?
Hello. I added the cooling vent more so that if there is any leak in the exhaust seal.. the carbon monoxide will exit the unit and prevent from going into the diesel heater.. that is why I added the air intake to draw air from the outside and not from the inside of the heater.. I live in Raincouver.. I mean Vancouver and I’ve used it in heavy rain and had no issues.. I’ve also used it in snow with no issues.. :)
