The DB's most powerful trait is how often it is underestimated.
But if you pull it out of your ass when approaching a player who gulped the bait of you being friendly, they can't do much.

Just like to point out, isle 9 buffed the db. It does 320 damage now so ballistic vests won’t save you lmao.

None of the weapons in the game are I've seen an exploiter with a god mode or inf revive script

A player wielding a minigun found me and started to attack me
Duck into a building pretending not to notice them and did a 180 on them with the double when they came inside
isle 9 made the combat shotgun so trash you legit have to be point blank for it do to decent damage and plus it knocks them back making it do less damage

Ill be honest, Dreamcatcher proves that DB is actually the worst. Johnny is also right, a situational weapon, BUT ITS A SITUATIONAL WEAPON! Ill probably bet that anybody takes a battle rifle and a DB with themselves! Thats why im on Dreamcatchers side. He proves a lot of points about DB and how other weapons outclass it.

That's an achievement, but that doesnt change the fact that a lot of other weapons can kill the mercs from a much safer distance and with more control in regards to movement and defense. Using a DB shotgun over a Combat/Tactical shotgun is like using the Coldwell Handcannon instead of the KSG in Decaying Winter

Double barrel is a solid emergency weapon, and in isle 9 it lets you wreck groups on enemies with its spread. While it is outclassed, it’s solid and reliable and I would choose it in a close range emergency. Unless I had a sub machine gun, cuz now that thing is powerful even back in isle 8 it still is
If we talk about the worst gray tier weapon in the game it's most likely db. Both Johnny and dreamcatcher make good points, but I agree a little bit more with dreamcatcher. But if we talk about the worst weapon in the game in general i think it would be the grenade launcher. It's slow, very rare, and cannot be used in close range, and heck sometimes the grenades bounce when trying to shoot someone.

I’d say it’s good and bad at the same time.. I use it in my tc run and it works sometimes, in the watchtower you simply have to split up the merc my peaking in and out, it splits gunner sniper, maybe medic if close enough, and maybe spotter which would leave 1-3 mercs open, it still may be bad if that situation but you can focus of medic and commander first plus there bullets sometimes don’t hit you

Now, watchtower is not the best area to do it, I reccommend doing it in Lighthouse, It will be way safer

DB is actually pretty strong, the surprise factor can work out really well, specially now since it got buffed
Other close range weapons work in surprise factor situations too, and a smart person will know how to stay away from a person with a double barrel.

It's so powerful it steals an inventory space.
The db is good in the fact that it’s pretty common, with a guaranteed spawn at hangar, and the fact that it can shred alpha Mercs like paper. Although because there is so much drawbacks as well, it’s not worth it if your fighting elite mercs or as an offensive weapon.
DB is great but some people think its trash because it cant shoot as far as other weapons but when you actually manage to do so, you litteraly blow every body part of the other person's body
Both sides make very good points. In my opinion I think the DB is extremely good for ambusing/camping on the watchtower but trash for anything else.
One combo I think could be really good against mercenaries is battle rifle and DB. You use the battle rifle to weaken them as they approach and then you use the DB to finish them off when they come close.
I am with johnny tactical USA on this one. the double barrel shotgun is a powerful brute breaker, and if you know locations for shallow underwater loot, and you are lucky enough to find strange drinks, then you have a powerful weapon for peeking enemies. even if you disregard the other explanations, keep in mind it is still pretty good for a starter weapon, as it can kill multiple enemies more reliably if you position yourself well. You gotta view it as more of a tool than a primary weapon, as it is a great weapon for breaking those heavily armored enemies

the db is an ambushing weapon i think. say if someone walked through a doorway you could instakill them but if it was a rapid fire weapon they could be able to notice in time or a sniper it would take a long time to shoot or they would notice you

The db does insane damage but you can legit walk out of its range. I think it is only useful if you catch someone off guard or by surprise, or if you drew your weapon faster and are at point blank.
Yeah basically (again leaning into the situational side of the weapon) If you whip it out of your ass at point blank range while they are distracted then they wont have much time to even THINK about fighting back

sounds good but imagine wasting a whole day for preparing along with the REAL mercs. then...elites

the double barrel is good but its so situational that most other weapons can do better. the few situations i can think you could effectively use it is when your fighting a player that has a quick firing weapon while you are around a corner , using it to remove any kind of shield (probably get killed tho) or to deal with stan while you find a better weapon
The DB is good for camping on high distances, like on the watchtower, you can use a rev or a tactic pistol if its high range

Though Personally. i see DB as the “ better than no gun, use this for betrayal and only a limited amount of situation that happens in a perfectly good universe “. Since I usually don’t race for any major military spawns ( cough cough lab, and usually bungalows unless I really feel like it ). Limiting me to mostly just db as revolver is fairly rare ( I used revolver, decent for early game combat where people are unarmed, or armed people aren’t really skilled )

Bah, Double Barrel is strong and saved my sorry ass a couple times, but the crappy range really makes me hate it.

Oh yeah, SMG fucking sucks
50% of the time you'll dump your entire 30 bullet mag on your opponent and in the end have barely scratched their hp, it's terrible in long range. If you want to spray your enemies with bullets and not miss 90% of your bullets, take LMG or Gatling Gun any day
@@bionicleapple1254 Good point, but even 4 shots from the Submachine Gun is devastating and it will guarantee even opponents with Ballistic Vests won’t even have a moment to retaliate.
It’s amazing for Peeking and Shooting, and is a good choice if you have backup guns for opponents who distance themselves.
While Submachine Gun does have its faults, the thingie is more than enough to eat through the player with even the best equipment in the game, especially if paired with a Battle Rifle to mitigate its flaws.
You won’t miss 50% of the time if you’re in close quarters, which is exactly why it’s great for peeking and shooting unarmored and armored foes alike.
@@viruse4203 fair enough, I wouldn't use it as my main weapon but I would use it to finish up opponents who have little hp left after a shootout or to conserve ammo on my main weapon
Problem is, I think a good weapon needs to be able to take out an opponent, *right now.* Isle is a very chaotic game and battles can be extremely dangerous with people who know what they're doing and you always have to be prepared. However, the most prepared you can be is only 3 items. If I see a wild player going crazy with an LMG, I won't pick a spot, put down my picnic basket and pick the weapons I want to use today, I'm going to quickly come up with a plan and engage and to do that I'll need a weapon that can kill someone on it's own. And thus, weapons that can reliably kill an enemy with one volley are generally great picks. The SMG does go above and beyond in terms of DPS but only when you're 5 meters from your enemy. Battle Rifle, Combat Shotgun, Tactical Pistol, Tactical Shotgun are all pretty good examples for good weapons to end a battle as quick and with as little loss as possible. The problem with SMG is that for a mag of only 30 bullets and a volley that fires 10 bullets incredibly quickly, a lot of your shots are going to miss and personally I'd prefer carrying a ballistic vest, drone, EVG/HVG or maybe even a medkit if I know I'm going to fight a lot of players. For me, SMG is just that weapon you give to your drone for backup and replace once you get a better sidearm or ammo crate. I guess it's just personal preference though, and I can understand your points as well. As "close your eyes and pray your shots land" as SMG is at long range, it can be well beyond lethal in the right hands.
Both bring some good arguments and points about the db and I agree with both the db is pretty strong when used in the right senecio like Johnny said but just like dream catcher said it’s bad because most weapons do the dbs job so much better and is why like he said is usually throw away after players find something better but it’s still a force to be recognized at its range it’s very deadly and should not be underestimated either but ultimately it’s not nearly as good as most other weapons it ends up being a weapon you have just for the sake of defending yourself or only if you have a plan that works like luring the mercs to the watch tower latter to shed them with its powerful dps

i mean like ive gotten and seen more db's litered around the map then flashlights so its really east to get and all you gotta do for mercs is wait in watch tower or lighthouse lol plus its a really good gun for surprise attacking people
I'm with Johnny. Every gun is good in it's own way. E.g: Snipers for long range, shotguns for close range.
You don't shoot a shotgun at range, or bring a sniper to a cqc environment.
Revolver/Tac Pistol - for those who are exploring, as you probably won't see combat. Tac is good for taking out enemies quickly, and revolver is good for taking out defenceless enemies.
(people who can't fight back at the moment e.g: climbing)
Scoped Rifle/Sniper Rifle - shooting specific mercenaries or anyone at range
Suppressed Rifle - quickly taking out mercenaries or people at medium range distance without being detected
Bolt Action Rifle - quickly taking out mercenaries at range, but not quietly.
Assault Shotgun - good for raiding/ambushing enemy positions that are cqc based.
Double Barrel - good for taking out heavily armed enemies e.g: gunner, commander at close range. Mainly only use it at lighthouse or watchtower.
Submachine Gun - only good for cqc, and for people who explore. (i just don't see enough good things for it)
Combat Shotgun - good for cqc, and is good for a "holy shit, get the hell away from me" situation as it does somewhat fling people each shot, and continue to shoot them while on the ground.
Steel Sword - banzai?
Proton Cannon - Good for taking out multiple targets at once at medium range.
Tactical Shotgun - good for cqc, and for roaming the night with. A perfect gun for people who want to kill others up close snd personal.
Grenade - Only use it to kill others who are in a room in which they can't escape. E.g: throwing a grenade into a room where the entrance is the exit.
Energy Lancer - good at medium range only. I don't know, tbh.
Light Machine Gun - One of the best at medium range. Good for cover fire if you’re in a group suppressing the enemy.(will not work on a.i)
Battle Rifle - good for quickly taking out enemies at medium range, and at close range.
Flamethrower - good at taking out multiple enemies at close range in one go.
Grenade Launcher - good at taking out multiple enemies in one go at long range. Also good for cover fire. (again, cover fire will not work on ai)
Gatling Gun - good at taking out enemies at medium range, possible intimidation factor only on players? Good for suppressing enemies. (for the final time, will not work on a.i)
Heavy Rifle - good for taking out heavily geared enemies (e.g: Gunner, Commander) at long distances.

my man you are missing the point. the only reason ANYONE uses db is because they have no better option. sure, it has 1 or 2 advantages, but every other shotgun has at least 4. even revolver is much better at close range
also, you putting revolver and tactical pistol in the same category makes no sense. pistol is a medium range weapon with low ammo but good accuracy, good for picking off enemies. revolver, meanwhile, is a low range with medium accuracy that's good for close quarters, since it has a powerful knockback ability
battle rifle cannot be used as a close quarters weapon since it takes 2 bursts to kill a player. similar to tactical pistol, useful for picking off enemies at medium range
energy lancer is great against ai since they don't really dodge much, and it's piercing ability is perfect for tc at watchtower

The dB has saved me from times that I should have died on although most of the credit goes for artifact b if I used another weapon who knows if I could make it out alive knowing those players were exploiting

Do can be very useful for doing a lot of damage. If you have a shield pack then you can tank while you aim and almost always oneshot
The only time the DB saved me was ONE singular time in the lighthouse (close up area), against another player with a scoped rifle (long windup time).
every other time i used the double barrel i died.

Im on johnny's side.After watching this video, i decided to do TC with DB, art C and some ammo crates at watchtower.Bro....the db destroyed the alpha team! However...with the bravo team...well....i couldn't really tell bc i was going to the gated warehouse at night after killing the alpha team.Forgot to take a weapon for the night and stan killed me....But im sure the DB would struggle a bit with the bravo team
Congrats, but it doesn't change the fact that tactical or combat shotguns would work better, you could also use a sniper, energy lancer, or battle rifle to attack from range.

Tbh dB is good and bad depending on how you use like the vid said it's good as a side gun or a primary gun in certain situation like on impact zone the spot where mercs climb is a ez wipe out but the Reason I lost was forgetting to reload which ye can be a issue but you just need to use it correctly
I have to agree with both, as the db is very bad and is useful though at lighthouse and watch tower is you saw the video he killed the mercs at watch with ease. Though yes the range is terrible, and the ambush part does not work at all, you can still get tc at lighthouse cause any weapon can, my overall opinion is that if you find a db, just put at light or watch. Well if your nearby ofc.
DB is so op in hangar vs the heavy frogspawn
it can just wipe them out oneshot while using a supresssed, or battle rifle drains the ammo
but using the db its a oneshot so its just a save of ammo and faster in general

Fun fact: tactical pistol is kind of maybe might be underrated. It has insane range and accuracy for a video game pistol. Also, isle has the most accurate range for a flamethrower in a video game
I’m on johnnys side. The DB works great at places like watch tower not places like impact zone. His examples of battle rifle LMG and energy lancer are kinda bad considered 1. You have to get good RNG at facility or diving for lancer BR or LMG. 2. Energy lancer doesn’t work at all you will die from commander by the time you charge it up again. 3. LMG requires you to get in a area where you can shoot that means the mercs can shoot you
the ambush fact is really true, lab corners can be used immensly for advantages
double barrel is good for situations since it was built for a quick kill for single targets, if you Suprise them and click first.
other than that, the weapon is mostly there for intimidation, but I can think of some ways to beat mercs with it.

am in jhonny tactical its good for watchtower when mercs coming if u use it when they a little near it will work it will deal too much damage and sometimes make them at 10 HP so it works so good for make the work more easly
gotta go with dreamcatcher here because i almost always dumb the double barrel when i find weapons. Although its not good for combat, you are fully proteted from stan on nights 1, 2 and 3 because stans health in the night goes 95, 110 and 160 which means the db can one shot stan. its also pretty common but it can be outclassed by the smg for almost every trait.
Just edited this now because i realised that drone dels with stan anyway so your probably better off using drone or proximity mine against stan
Db is very good with art B but because of its short range it does not do well in far combat but using corners to your advantage it will work

in my opinion, a double-barreled shotgun is the best shotgun in the game, since it is a regular shotgun, which means that it can be found quite often in some buildings, and cartridges for it are quite likely to fall out of ammunition boxes, and it does pretty good damage at very close range (it can kill with one shot all mercenaries, except the commander and the machine gunner)

I can't count how many times I've betrayed a group of people with the easy ambush of the DB they just die cuz they don't expect it.
i mean the doublebarrel shotgun is really good in my opinion i done like witness run with it (also tc with it) so yeah its an good weapon

best weapon imo for like first 2 days since it scares stan away
p.s. does insane damage and easy to find. good choice when you just started and need a gun asap for night encounter
though the DB is the worst weapon, it is still a gun, so even though it’s the worst compared to other guns, it gets the job done. Also it’s great for stan attacks until day 4, but if you haven’t escaped by then or haven’t found a better weapon by then, then it’s completely on you.
Here’s what I think, db is situational, but you can increase its reliability in situations by using buffs like strange drink or Art B (honestly who uses art B???). It makes fighting the elite mercs very very easy, as camping on watchtower and picking them off with only TWO shots for most of them. And it isn’t like you can’t also pair it with other guns like other people here in the comments are saying. But in other situations I do think it isn’t that great to use for different combat.
All weapons are useful in each given situation so I’d side with Johnny because he gives a lot of information on which guns are best in situations

the truth is that there really is no worst weapon in isle, they can all dominate in their certain scenarios. but when it comes to all-round, the double barrel is usually considered the worst.
DB is kinda good. If you are doing TC it can one shot mercs, that climbing up on ladder. Also you can kill players with art A because it cant stop it. Also if you have 1 ammo box you will receive 20 ammo for DB and its just solo TC ( if we dont count demo guy )

Heres why db can really clap the mercs.
Your in lighthouse right? You get the ammo boxes from warehouse, scoped rifle from watchtower and get db in hanger or something.
When the mercs land you get the scoped rifel and kill sniper and medic, if you can you kill spotter. When the gunner and commander with high hp climbs the final ladder you shoot them with the db and do massive damage. This works so well as long they dont get up to the top at the same time.
