Wow 10 years since this post . I love these old cable machines . I `d spent time on one in `73 pushing scrapers and general road work . The touch of the winch when doing blade work is a good learning start . Short sharp dabs of the lever & watching what the blade is doing , no down force though , feeling the machine work . My old 9 had a 5 speed stick shift gearbox with master clutch lever , forward / reverse lever plus all the R /L steering levers & turning brake pedals , it was a workout , so you did learn to become efficient . It was all good training for the modern machines to come , starter motors , hydraulics , transmissions , torque converters , cabs with proper seats , AC . Didn`t get into the computer stuff much before retirement . I miss the simple days. People more interested in raising a family , building a country than building a bank balance.
@DieselPowerTV I see these nice old dozers and wonder, do you just operate it as a hobbyist? Seems like there is still plenty of useful life. Is it too fatuging for the operator or are the maintanance costs to high to run it as part of the business operation?
Love the old D9s

Thdt turbo whistle sound never gets old!!!
Think that the 286hp D9 when introduced in 1954 got a 3-speed powershift.
A bucket has many functions. This one kept rain out of the exhaust.
sounds better then my 9G one bad piston and broken tooth on the crank :(

the first d9's did not have powershift only gear i thought powershifts came available on the d9e , the d9g came only with powershift
is it up for sale?
Whats with the bucket? Starting aid or something?
Keeps rain out
It's to much of a good dozer to sell.
Give them a little workout a year they need to work or they will go shit the rings
