Just to clear things up: Asos is just an online fashion retailer that carries a lot of brands and also has its own brand (asos design). Reclaimed Vintage and Daisy Street, for instance, are just brands that asos carries.
Carrie don’t let those super cute clothes that you love go just because the fit isn’t exactly right! I take so many things to a tailor as I’m also “midsized” and usually between sizes. It’s a really inexpensive way to get a great personalized fit 😀 💛 That would be a great VIDEO IDEA 👀
I'm someone who is wider in my hips/thighs so a lot of my pants and skirts have the dreaded waistband gap; when I figured out about getting all my bottoms tailored, it was such a life-saver to no longer have to worry about my bottoms sliding around when I sat or walked.
With the black mini skirt if you're wearing tights as you mentioned, you might not need to wear bike shorts. The tights might prevent the chafing you experience
18:59 don’t be afraid to alter clothing pieces. I’m an XS person and clothing off of the rack never ever fits me….it’s always too big. I have to get almost everything I wear altered because they don’t make accurately sized clothing for me. Just wanted to empathize and let you know it’s not just a Mid-size problem. ✨♥️
I love tailoring. I'm also a xxs girlie and finding anything that fits is impossible, especially in the length. I get a lot tailored and it's made me much less frustrated at clothing.
Have you ever considered taking clothes you love that don’t fit you to a tailor? Could be interesting for everyone to see how to revamp clothes that either aren’t made in your perfect size or clothes you used to fit but don’t anymore
I would love to see this in a video. As someone who badly takes her own clothes in and send others to a professional I’m a huge fan of ‘making the clothes fit your body’ and would love to see this in a video!
For the denim skirt, you can add a strip of elastic to the back if you wanted to keep it. You just scrunch the skirt up a little while you stitch the elastic on.
Ugh I LOVE the denim skirt and it looks so good on you!! Something I've done to help when my body is fluctuating and bottom's get to loose around the waist, is investing is really cute belts. I feel like that skirt would look so cool dressed down with a utility type belt or dressed up with a posh black belt with a statement buckle. I cant see how loose it is that well from the video but if its just a bit loose, that can maybe work:)
I love the green pants!! I think the wide leg pants look way better with platforms and without shoes on the bagginess can be overwhelming but I think they’re super cute when styled!!
I’d totally vote to keep the Kim possible pants. And I also vote that you keep the skirt, and have it taken in to fit you just right. It’s really hard to be midsize, and I find a great inexpensive way to get pieces that you love or to have them tailored to your body, especially if the issue is that it’s just a little too big!
You can pull off any hair color out there, but something about this is just absolutely perfect for you for the season. Thanks so much for the asos video! I always find that their stuff is soo hit or miss on whether they work out.
GIRL!!! I think that denim skirt looked perfect! I gonna definitely buy it and it didn’t look to big at all to me on you, it looked perfect!!! If I were you I would keep it and just enjoy the comfy extra room. 😅
The other day I found my dream mini skirt in a thrift shop. I have been having the worst time lately with depression and breakup grief it felt like the secondhand fashion gods saying hey, we got you. Genuine retail therapy haha
I feel like sometimes the sizing thing is because we try to wear things a way which it isn't designed for. You always hike things up and make it high waisted because that how you like it and looks the best on you. I always try to pull things down below my natural waist because if I do high waist I look like Steve Urkel. I think perhaps the denim skirt and maybe also the cargo pants was designed to be mid-normal waist and not high waist and that's why it was too big. When I try and pull down high waisted pants or skirts... they are of course too small. I always try to take my clues from the pictures to try and see how it's supposed to be worn if it's not described in the clothing name....
I was thinking the same thing. I think (some of) the bunching in the green cargo pants is happening because they're hiked up higher than they are designed to sit. Of course, I'm not there in person, so they also could just be too big or too baggie for your taste, Carrie.
Send back the brown crop, green sweater, suit pieces and the cargos. Get a smaller size or 2 in the oversized sweatshirt and have the denim skirt taken in. It looked great on you. Thanks for sharing.💗
really surprised you thought the skirt was "big" on you, it looks like it first perfectly even with you tugging at the waist. IMO it's always good for clothes to be a bit loose at the waist in case you want to tuck a blouse in.
For that reclaimed vintage sweater, if you love the sweater except the arms, you could always turn it into a sweater vest. I saw Rachel from @thesorrygirls do that in her video.
When I cant decide if I want to buy something (or keep), I ask myself how much would I pay for it. And then check the price and if it is more than you would pay - put it back and keep your money. A stylist friend also told me that if you cannot come up with at least 3 things in your wardrobe you can wear the piece with AND 3 occassions, then dump it for something of more use. It works most of tiem - except boots!!!
I’m a size US6/8 & ASOS has been my go to always. My mom is a US16/18 & ASOS has always been hit or miss for her. Some things are so big while others won’t zip. Their straight sizes appear to be fairly standard but their plus size still isn’t that reliable yet
You should try Djerf Ave, they have a really good miniskirt with a really good fit (imo as a size 4/6), i know they are pricy and often sold out of items but its worth a try as they are size inclusive while still designing timeless modern pieces!
I’ve had mixed luck with ASOS To me their return process is super super easy Peezy! So I don’t feel super nervous about ordering a ton of stuff trying it on to see what fits and then returning The others! They make it really hassle free. The quality is mixed I have found some dream items for really great prices and some fails. I’d say definitely give it a try.
Ok, but I'm not even mad at the colorblock sweater having shorter sleeves. it looks really cute. They're like cropped sleeves. Would be cute to show off some bracelets.
Just for the record I never think you are too harsh in your commentary. If anything I feel like you are more lenient than other reviewers I have watched, but not in a bad way. It's just that you're like.. respectful towards the garment haha.
I bought the same sweatshirt and also went up a size (or two) and it was HUGE but it has shrunk down decently! I love the fit now that I've washed it. Definitely keep it because it's the cutest!!!!
Carrie listen Linda. I was skeptical on the cherry dress (not a fan of the print) but when it cut to you in it I was like YES! Omg so cute. It gives me Miss Honey vibes. I adore ❤
Big, big agree about truly being mid-sized. There is a HUGE gap that doesn’t exist in between any other sizes when transitioning from straight to plus and so few options for those of us who fall in the middle. Just make one more size! Interested to hear what others have to say, but I’m a US 12/14 (solidly 14 in bottoms) and I think that UK sizes are not always a full 2 sizes larger. I would be more likely to wear a UK 16 than 18 much of the time and find my body more closely matches those influencers from the UK that say they are a UK 16 as well. Unsure if that is real or just my own perception, and also unsure if it applies to other parts of the size range, but just my experience! Loved seeing this try on!
I LOVE both black skirts on you! Visually, I didn't find the long one looked too big on you, it looked perfect actually but I get if it feels too big. I wonder if a little belt would help? I didn't love the brown top for the same reasons you were iffy on it. Didn't love the last green pants either, they looked too big in the crotch area and were bunching up. Hope you have a lovely day!
I feel like if asos had product reviews it would help soooo much! I dont ever take risks on things im on the fence on and feel like encouraging reviews from others would help lol. Would also help a lot with sizing suggestions and they'd probably get less returns!!! The jean skirt is super cute and I can't tell that it's too big fwiw. Maybe worth trying a wash and dry to shrink it a bit!
On the Aus website there's heaps of reviews. Sadly a lot of items have bad reviews but at least it's saved me from buying certain items and there's a lot of good things but you got to search a lot
ASOS Canada definitely has tons of reviews, I always read through them before buying anything and I’ve never been disappointed with any of my purchases so far 🤷🏽♀️
What I would do with the denim skirt is sew a piece of elastic in the back of the waistband. It will crinkle up in the back, but usually it's not looking that bad. And you can make it as tight or loose as you want. I hope this helps.
The Kim Possible style pants look really good on you! I get the issue with pants feeling like they're too wide legged. But maybe try them on with some chunky sneakers or boots, I find that really makes a difference when trying to figure out if you like a pair of flares or wide leg pants!
I've noticed that the straight size 14 fits more like a true 14 at ASOS. Anytime I order plus size 14 it's too large, but straight size 14 fits me perfectly.
OMG you need to do an entire video on Reclaimed Vintage denim! Their jeans are the best jeans I have ever come across. I get sooo many compliments whenever I wear any of my Reclaimed Vintage jeans.
I’d say keep the first double zip but agree the brown is too cropped, the sweater, you have a similar one, and in my opinion the daisy is way more cute! And full transparency I think the grey is suit is cute on you, but you are so warm toned especially with your new hair the grey is too cool and washes you out (: Adored the long denim skirt 😍 definitely keep and get tailored!! It’s legit perfect on you!
You should so do merch that says “your girl’s got wingspan” - like it’s a funny inside joke but also it’s lowkey inspirational?!! xx Also thought you looked gorgeous in that quirky green jumper
In my experience, everything that is by “Asos Design” is going to run big. I always size down by one. Even the shoes run huge (when they are by asos design). I’ve sized down by up to 2 sizes on shoes. Whenever i shop on asos, i make sure to try to stick to only asos design brand bc i am familiar with it. I’ve ordered items from other brands nd then they run different so i stick to what i know.
I thought you looked freaking awesome in just about everything you had on... With the exception of the oversized sweatshirt. Toooooo big! And the way the sleeves were was kinda interesting. I think you need to go down two sizes. I think you can totally rock the denim skirt with a cute leather belt. I have also been in search of THE denim skirt and was lucky to come across a vintage short one on Poshmark. But I am still searching for that length. I may just take the risk and order from ASOS too! Your videos mean the world to me. You and Sierra have helped me be kinder to myself. I tell my therapist about you guys and how much you've helped my self-talk. Thank you ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
About the long very cool denimskirt,if its to big in the waist,it just takes a few stiches to make it smaller, take a minut with a sewing machine...I do this all the time with skirts and trousers because Im in between sizes too. Also love tops with really long arms, but not easy to find!
the gummy bear sweater was SO my vibe if it didnt have the brands name on the sleeves! stick to the daisy one! cute haul though, love the double zip! gotta see if i can find one in black 💕
Ditch the gummy bear sweater keep the flower sweatshirt... I think the flower sweatshirt with some leggings would be a *chef's kiss* iconic 90's outfit 😊.
Carrie, I love your videos! I just wanted to tell you that things that are send back, will go to the landfill. They won't go back into rotation for selling for as far as I've understood. I'm not entirely sure, but that's what I've heard. So before sending back, you might want to check into that and if it's true, possibly resale yourself😊
ASOS’s quality has decreased significantly over the years. They’re very hit or miss with sizing even at a size 4/6 i’m assuming as the sizes get larger it probably gets worse. They’re one of the only places that sells affordable swimsuits for sizes larger than a DD but even the cup sized sizing feels off sometimes.
I love the gummy bear sweater and the cherry dress. It's too bad the dress doesn't fit. I'm pretty sure we have different styles, but I like your videos.
I like the skirt 😊 you could sew/clip/attach the bike shorts you were talking about and chop the leg and also it might keep the skirt down? You could make the split shorter with a couple stitches too. If you push up the sleeves or fold you got a nice 3/4
Reclaimed vintage started out as a brand that worked with vintage pieces and renewing them. But they started the line „Reclaimed Vintage Inspired“ where they bring back vintage styles but the pieces are new.
So happy I watched. I have been looking for a cropped gray long sleeve shirt to wear with a pair of my yoga pants. This one is perfect. I have ordered it through the link. Thank you
Regarding your black mini skirt with a slit search: I just found one that was princess Polly called the raven skort! Thrifted it on depop but it’s got shorts in it and has the lil slit and is super stretchy!
If you own a sewing machine you can take in the waist on the bottoms with a couple of darts, an easy sizing fix, I should know I can't sew to save my life but I've learned to make minor adjustments and mend my clothes to get the most out of them.
Just to clear things up: Asos is just an online fashion retailer that carries a lot of brands and also has its own brand (asos design). Reclaimed Vintage and Daisy Street, for instance, are just brands that asos carries.
Thank you for your comment :) I was wondering if anyone else had noticed that ☺️

Also, that long denim skirt she could probably shrink it a bit in the wash/dryer

I was about to comment this!! I second!
I agree on the daisy sweater being your main for the muted green vibe! The other one isn't as cute as the daisy one! :)
With the black mini skirt if you're wearing tights as you mentioned, you might not need to wear bike shorts. The tights might prevent the chafing you experience

I appreciate how you return or pass up on something if it’s not perfect ~ Every piece should make us feel 100% our best✌🏻
I need to learn to do that 😅
ASOS is always such a mixed bag and I think it takes a lot of searching (or ordering and returning lol) to find the gems

Exactly!!! I definitely think a belt would make the denim skirt a keeper!!!
I love the green pants!! I think the wide leg pants look way better with platforms and without shoes on the bagginess can be overwhelming but I think they’re super cute when styled!!
i came to the comments to see if anyone else loved the green pants as much as i did. they looked so cute even with that gray top!

Your new hair color makes your skin glow!!! It’s something with the tone of the color that works so well with your skin! ❤️

Love the short black skirt and the gray Ribbed topped for you. I'd return all the rest, downsize on the lilac oversized sweatshirt. Love the try on.

I love the gummy bear sweater and the cherry dress. It's too bad the dress doesn't fit. I'm pretty sure we have different styles, but I like your videos.
I think the big crew neck is cute! And could be worn with tights, socks, and docs!
i love the no rain no flowers crew neck!! Definitely a keep
I looove the oversized sweatshirt outfit! 😄👌so cute and cozy
So happy I watched. I have been looking for a cropped gray long sleeve shirt to wear with a pair of my yoga pants. This one is perfect. I have ordered it through the link. Thank you
Girlfriend collective has expanded their skirts a lot- the one your hoping for that you threw up on the screen…they got that design now!
i love that julia goolia is our mutual style reference, since the movie literally came out 😂 (im 38) makes your vids super relevant for me! 🌼
I’m obsessed with that grey long sleeve on you
Regarding your black mini skirt with a slit search: I just found one that was princess Polly called the raven skort!
