  • I wrote this song about the house I'm living in (sort of)...it was built in 1740...post and beam construction...half falling apart...but historical and beautiful nonetheless. This house heard the words "the british are coming" - Thank you house for inspiring me when I thought I'd run out of things to say.

    Lyrics:
In a way you see me.
Gonna break it down for you - gonna break it down now.
In a way you see lightening touch the ground.
    God save this house
with its post and beam and self afflicted window frames all around.
It can see that while we are making every mistake,
it's just a flicker in time.
It can't sleep so it is watching
until due time we're just memories...
Selfish and demure...such a clever girl.
She has let it go so many times.
    This can't go on.
There's a way to see me.
Gonna break it down for you - gonna break it down now.
    There's a way to see..
    But don't you make a sound-it's dangerous.
This simple game of hide and seek has turned into more than we'd bargained for...
Selfish and demure...such a clever girl.
She has let it go so many times.
    This can't go on.
    She's taking her sweet time.
She's waiting for a moment to persuade her...
    Feeling sorry...
    I will hide....
And this house will never move for you.
It never will change but just a little for you.
And this house has a foundation though it is shaky.
And you can't blame it for standing still.
