- Along with this 'vintage' video we wish you a Happy New Year 2014 - it was filmed in 2002! Kalevi Kiviniemi plays his arrangement of a Rhapsody on a theme by Niccolo Paganini. This recording is a special one: it was made in St. Michael's Church in Turku, Finland, in the autumn 2002 during the week of the inauguration of the organ. This is the first ever audio/video recording made with this organ! The organ was built by a Swedish organ builder Grönlund, and it was inaugurated in the 13th of October, 2002. The organ has 52 stops, and it represents the French romantic tradition.
The audio was taken from the original separate high quality recording setup, not from the built-in microphone of the video camera or from its audio system. Although filming was made in standard definition (SD), video was upscaled before loading, so it looks and sounds slightly better in 720p. Audio, video, editing and description by Mika Koivusalo.
A superb instrument with beautiful orchestral voicing and a wonderful performance.
As always, his technique is impeccable. He has an innate understanding of the music and where it should go!
Bravo maestro!
Kiitos🌻🌻🌻
Beautiful performance and what a wonderful sounding organ!
Amazing performance. Magnificent arrangement. Fantastic organ!
Absolutely spectacular performance and transcription of one of my favorite works by Rachmaninoff!
Very beautiful, great organist and what a spectacular organ.thank you. I have once tried as a child to play organ, played Bach on piano. It is one thing to listen to somebody but to play it oneself, in a country, empty European small church, the beauty, majesty overwhelmed me. Can never forget that experience! No wonder it is called the king of all instruments!!!
Very impressive, as always. Maître Kiviniemi is one of the most creative and is for sure the most energic organist of his generation.
I thought Lantry and Roth were powerful Organist, but Kiviniem has taken his place clearly!!!!!
Wow! What a powerful performance. Thank you!
A great performance !!!
I love everything about this video, including the audio/videography.
KK-for me one of the best ever organists.......
Gorgeous orchestral voicing! Lush string tone.
Wonderful!
How about playing the entire rhapsody piano and organ WOW!

Très mystérieux💖
Why would you be bothered going to hear the piano version, when you hear Maestro Kiviniemi?
Oh wow!!! :-)
What do you use to record audio? And video? but most importantly, what application do you use to combine and edit video and audio TOGETHER? Thanks
around 2:50 is so beautiful
Can you tell us more about the organ? Tracker action? An interesting amalgam of a Cav-Coll style ampitheater console with modern electronic registration aides. Are the spoon pedals electric or mechanical? Brilliant!

+Itapirkanmaa2 Thanks! I just happened back upon this video again and was very glad to find this link with the organ info.
На 59-60 секундах лажа в басу!

OK
Molto bello, anche se è evidente il riferimento alla Rapsodia di Rachmaninoff per pianoforte e orchestra.
No temple? Imagine you are a conductor...
Nmm
Not a beautiful p[erformance. You only played a FEW segments of the variations and hurried up to the 18th. and from there jumped to the 24th
Please do us all a favor and post YOUR "correct" version. You do have one don't you?
@@sathya999 The "Correct version "?? Don't you mean COMPLETE version. Who us "Us All" One thing I don't have to do it prove anything to you or anyone else. What ever disparagement you feel like posting, it does not change the FACT that he did NOT play the complete piece, which was the topic of my comment. There is nothing that I do, or anyone else for that matter, that will change the fact that the piece was not completely performed. Before you shoot your mouth off, why don't you stay on topic. Since you seem to know so much, why didn't you recognize that he did a lazy man's version of this piece. Judging by your snide remark, you don't even know that he omitted several of the variations.
R.I.P. Grande Maestro
