2. The Ocellated Turkey has vibrant, brilliant feathering with eye-catching patterns all over its body.
3. They resemble peafowl in terms of their unique designs and colour.
4. This turkey is 28 to 48 inches long, has a 67-inch wingspan, and weighs 6 to 11 pounds.
5. Instead of flying, they prefer to run. Although they can fly well for a short distance.
6. Their diet consists of beetles, moths, ants, grains, seeds, nuts, and leaves.
7. Sadly, this species is near threatened due to overhunting for sport and food.

Turkeys are gamebirds that constitute the subfamily Meleagridinae within the family Tetraonidae, which classifies them with grouse and koklasses, they are known for their featherless heads and short fan-shaped tails, they are officially native to North America, there are three extant species within two genera: the United States Turkey (Meleagris silvestris), the Mexican Turkey (Meleagris gallopavo (cladistically including the Domestic Turkey (Meleagris gallopavo domestica))), and the Ocellated Turkey (Agriocharis ocellata), while only two genera of turkeys are still alive today, there are extinct genera of turkeys such as Rhegminornis and Proagriocharis.
