    Nice looking pen and as long as they're typical Twisbi steel nibs the ability use any short intl cartridge makes it a great travel pen. Will anyone want to buy a more expensive Prera now, or a Procyon?

    Is the spring in the converter made of plastic or metal? Interested as metallic parts have not reacted well to some inks I’ve used.

    might be the same price as the Lamy but the Lamy doesn't come with converters... this comes with 2!!!! Seems like quite an interesting pen

    Looks like a good pen. I have several TWSBIs , I hope you will be giving a demonstration of the filling,, coloured water would do, also tell us about the nib, it looks like a number 5 ? And I think nib changers would be interested if you could change the nib , in your opinion.
    Maybe the flexy writers would use this with the G5 nibs ? What do you think.
    Thanks for posting. 💙

      Thanks for the kind words. The nib is the same (No.5) as the Eco and Go, which is the same nib as it found in the Classic and Mini ranges, but it doesn't have a sleeve here. TWSBI don't sell them alone at the moment, sadly.
      You *could* buy a Mini nib and remove it from the sleeve, but it's fiddly and liable to becoming damaged.
      The standard nib is easy to remove (as shown) so you should be able to swap it out for another one in the same size.
      We'll have a go at filming it filling in the coming days... :)

    I know I'm in the minority, but I tend to like opaque barrels more than demonstrators, and the TWSBI Swipe looks a bit swank to my eyes too. Might be my first TWSBI _and_ my first stub nib.

      As a rule, adults like opaque pens. Teens prefer demonstrators. Too, the poorer you are, the more you like demonstrators. Alsoi, the less you used fountain pens growing up, the more you like demonstrators.
      I agree with you. The only thing that I dislike more than cheap demonstrators is an expensive demonstrator. It blows my mind that some people will pay hundreds of dollars for a pen made of cheap, transparent plastic.

    I have a number of TWSBI pens. All work brilliantly and have no issues. Agreed that this seems like a school or entry level item which is a market mostly dominated by the Pilot Metropolitan and justly so. I like the demonstrator aspect, the hex sided design,the fill system looks solid but the clip looks funky to me. But that’s just me. Being a TWISBI it’s bound to be a good performer. In future editions they’re sure to come out with more colors.

    • @jamesaritchie1
      @jamesaritchie1 2 роки тому

      Well, no, the school market is not mostly dominated by the Pilot Metropolitan. It's dominated by the Pilot Kakuno, the Platinum Preppy, and a hundred Chinese made pens. The Metro is way, way down the list, though it's a wonderful pen. But it's an adult pen, and the massive majority of Metropolitans are owned by adults, even in Japan.
      I love the way the clip looks, and I don't care how it works. I never use the clip on any pen.

      A few years ago TWSBI opened a factory in China to meet extra demand and started with the Chinese market models. More demand means that some models are made in both sites.
      The two converters are included in North America, but nowhere else. These models are slightly more expensive but you'll be able to buy spare converters elsewhere anyway if needed/wanted.

    • @PurePens
      @PurePens  2 роки тому +1

      @@michaelcorleone89 We understand that the nib is still German-made and supplied to TWSBI by Jowo.
      We'd say the difference is down to ink or tweaking of the ink feed.
      TWSBI have a video on their UA-cam channel showing you how to adjust the ink feed and therefore wetness.

    would it be too much to design cartridge that is refillable and resealable? say, making the bottom end of the big enough cartridge with an o ring plug with a screw, unscrew and take the sealing ball out, refill, plug the ball back, done.

    Whats the point of the spring, just makes it look cheap to me.

    • @PurePens
      @PurePens  2 роки тому

      You don't have to use the spring in the box, it but you can fit it and the ink cartridge will be held in place. It means that *IF* you drop the pen the ink cartridge won't pop out of the feed. It is unique and not visible on Prussian Blue model.
      The spring inside the converter is what helps it fill so easily, you simply compress it and then let go and it's done. We are getting a video ready now to show the filling mechanism and compare the capacity to the other TWSBI models

      They produced the Pastel Pink and Pastel Blue Eco in China as they were initially for the Chinese market. It seems due to an increase in demand, they are using the extra capacity at that factory for the Swipe.

  • @jamesaritchie1
    @jamesaritchie1 2 роки тому

    First, if you think this is a school pen, you must be in first grade yourself. This is an adult pen, and fills an adult niche. Second, yours is an early video, so maybe you have an excuse for questioning whether the Sipe converter or cartridge will fit in other pens, but not much of one. It's an incredibly odd thought to even consider but it's still happening months after you made this video. I suspect a blind man could tell from across the room that the Swipe Cartridge and converter are both too wide to fit in other pens. NO ONE EVER SAID THEY WOULD.
    The point of the Swipe is to have a pen that holds a LOT of ink, whether in the cartridge or the converter, but that can still use standard international cartridges.
