@@snake0911 Yup. The commentary was biased too because any time Erceg landed any slight punch or kick, the commentary always acknowledged it but when Pantoja would land no acknowledgment. So of course when the commentary is just talking about Erceg's striking it's gonna look like he's getting "pieced up." Ironically the elbow that cut Pantoja, in that same exact exchange you could see in the slow mo Pantoja countered back and snapped Erceg's head back but the commentary only kept bringing up the elbow. Also he only cut him once. He kept bleeding later on because of that same one cut. Cuts from previous rounds don't transfer as new damage in the next rounds. These people have no idea how scoring fights works.
The problem is even if pantoja had control time, that's not how fight is scored, it's damaged based scoring, and in 2 very close rounds (3rd and 5th) Erceg cut open pantoja with nasty elbows. The judging criteria specifically states that effective control isn't just the changing of position, but the establishment of an attack, or submission that brings them closer to finishing the fight. Pantoja had 0 submission attempts and basically no ground and pound outside of the first, which most people think pantoja won anyway. Under this criteria, it doesn't make sense to choose pantoja's control over Ercegs damage
Guru thinks being taken down and controlled by a full grown man on top of you is not damage. He thinks "damage" = only strikes or failed submission attempts. Try going to a wrestling room and see how damaged you, your will to fight and your cardio are after 15 minutes of getting rag dolled. There are many way to damage a person without drawing blood. I think ALOT of UK fighters and fans had this mindset as they simply lacked the wrestling US/Russia had. They called it names, said it wasn't a man's sport, but wrestlers are the hardest men on the planet. It really seems like a cope technique to try and make dominant grapplers turn everything into a kick boxing match as grappling is the dominant art form and will most likely cancel our a strikers talents while a striker can't do crap to grappler unless he connects with a lucky punch.
But to Guru's point, which is true, the judging criteria has changed and is very specific. It's a damage based criteria system now whereas people are used to the old criteria where dominant positions/wall n stall/lay n pray were valued more. Your average person doesn't even know what the criteria is, and it seems like many of the judges don't value it at times either and eye ball it as if it were a schoolyard fight and the winner = who is on top. That all said, Guru def is biased and cares more about his picks being right so he can seem like some expert getting an ego stroke than keeping it real. Had he picked Pantoja, I really wonder what his energy would be. "Biggest robbery of all time" = mad copium. Gsp Hendricks was far more of a robbery than this, and there are way worse robberies than that.

Clear 4-1 Pantoja win via ragdoll. One elbow even if it cut him does not win you the whole 25 minute fight
exactly, people think a head cut in one round transcends to all later rounds.

Erceg doesn’t have “fangirls”, someone people just don’t worship whatever decision the judges make.
@BlackHomelander 1, 2 and 5. Only damage was the elbows. Pantja walked through 90 % of his punches. And dominate him in the grappling with G and P.
