I love knowing you have a fine art background! I figured you had some kind of graphics training. 😊 I was a dancer for just 10 years... not professionally, but as a personal passion. Dance of course is not easy. It requires focus, hard work, hours of practice, soreness, bruises... but the thing it takes the most is emotional energy to express your deepest spirit as movement. I thought quitting dance was the "right thing to do" for my life at the time, but as soon as I quit dancing, my health deteriorated. Now, my health is at a point when I can no longer dance. Martha Graham is like a mother of contemporary dance. The quote set me up to cry, really. As I watched Black Swan, I realized what was happening, "His wings are his dance (his art)..." and I began to sob. Art is not just a creative hobby. It is a laborious gestation and birthing. I can only imagine the pain each of our 7 has experienced, realizing that what gave them wings-the beautiful black wings they once longed for as ducklings-would become a burden they wanted to cut off. To me, this film expresses the torture of the craft, and their realization that they must learn to fly without their wings.
Beautiful sentiments. I'm sorry you can't dance anymore. I understand the need to create and express what is in the heart. I don't paint anymore but I do find my outlets to fly.
Thank you kpopdad for sharing your thoughts. Coming from a dad like you is very meaningful. I've been watching many reactions and many of them has same feelings as you. When some point in your life that the thing you loved/passion exhausted you so much to the point that it doesn't affect you anymore and seeing the darker side of your joy. I think that's when the black swan plays (same as the movie itself). Thank you. It means a lot to me.
My Opinion: He Is Fighting Off The Darkness, That Keeps Following Him, He Is In Fear Of Losing What He Has Known All His Life, Music/Dance....He Realize That It Is Apart Of Him And Accept It...His Shadow....{there is a color coded lyrics video}..also on Spotify
I felt that in the beginning the ego is in the conscious self (upper level) and struggles to find cohesion with the shadow... then the ego descends into the unconscious self (lower level) and this allows the ego to successfully integrate and exist with his shadow. The uncomfortable point before the decent into the unconscious (via the change in the music and the dancers movements) really captures how emotionally vulnerable and turbulent taking those first steps into individuation are said to be.. so so beautiful and I know the way I perceived it is probably the most shallow interpretation.
Raw and real is better IMHO. I cried too. You will realize more after rest, getting the words down and then realizing how the lyrics weave through the performance.
This resonates so much with their comeback trailer: SHADOW. Your shadow will always follow you & be part of you. Either you allow it to grow so big & let it swallow you whole OR make peace with yourself and accept that it's part of you. Depending on your decision, the shadow is there to drag you down or lift you up. This beautiful video piece was able to portray that through these amazing dancers...our inner conflict. 😱😭👍 That's what I got from it. I can't with BTS anymore. They're showing us so much of their vulnerable side as artists. They're completely on a whole different level in terms of their music and creativity yet takes ARMY to a whole new level through art & dance. 😱😭👍💙 #ARMYsince2014
👋💕 Kpop Dad: Watching your video & reaction to this masterpiece brings tears to my eyes too.... I’m a big fan of yours and I really appreciate your position and perspective - you “get it!” I’m a member/moderator of Bangtan Moms & Noonas who I believe you’ve met before for events! We all adore u! 🥰 I’m in the Midwest, but the next time I travel to visit the SoCal noonas in LA, I’m going to come & meet you! Borahae.. and heartfelt thanks for all you do and say for our Boys! 😍💙💜
The dancers are from MN Dance studio in Slovenia. The mv location is in USA. The film crew is Korean. If it's not 'connecting', I dunno what else it is. Flexing? Maybe.
Your flinch reaction at the very beginning when he slapped his back with his wing was virtually all the others´reaction on YT, LOL. " I am such a ding dong" - gosh, I am pleased I could finally laugh at something , you are funny. The song itself made me cry. (The dance ensemble is from Slovenia.) I see this song as an honest description of BTS artistry and evolution, about their inner growth as a group and individuals, about them changing, growing up, re-evaluating their path and priorities in life. In 7 years they must have been through tons and tons of stuff, both positive and negative. Emotions are a part of that path they have walked with all dark aspects to it and I am grateful they have courage to speak about it openly and share it with the rest of us.
Thank you. It was a raw reaction because I forgot everything. I set the camera up wrong, I didn't introduce the video or myself, I didn't do any of it right. But I'm ok with that. I was blown away by the whole thing.
I love your thoughts! Could you post them on the MV comment section, I really think the general public need to see what ARMY thinks 💜💜🥺 I cried a bit. The whole thing brought forth a human emotion that was sort of like longing and despair but with hope. Don’t know how else to explain.
If I remember correctly I think MN dance company is from Slovenia. I definitely want to check out more of their videos sometime after watching this they are such amazing dancers!
these amazing men went out of their comfort zone just to show us and deliver a message that will last in our hearts forever. we now have a glimpse of their fame, how hard their jobs is as artist to not only entertain their given audience but also to live the life of hardship and endure the wreck it fame may bring. this is a new aspect also of interpreting their song through a wonderfully crafted dance. I'm just lost with words on the theories and many other messages they want to let us understand, but I do know they have a longer story to tell ahead this year. and I can't wait to be a part of it. What do you have to say ARMYs? ^^ I MADE A REACTION VIDEO TOO : ua-cam.com/video/oMGrm_AyQxE/v-deo.html
this release was a very different approach than usually and i'm not sure if i necessarily like it but i'm definitely not dislike it. i'm a complete contemporary dance noob but i noticed some things. the dance push-and-pull movements which would go along with the lyrics that he (he=the dancer, lead role if that makes sense) wants one thing and maybe even tries to escape but the shadows keep pulling back ?! and also during the last part you can see how the other dancers, the/his shadow, are mimicking his movements. like a shadow literally does. they are also all wearing black lol. the main dancer's movements are not very flowing throughout the video, they are short, abrupt , rough which could represent struggle. also really like how his arms represent wings. especially the very last shot. super pretty. the clear audio is different than this version. the strings here give off a super nice classical vibe and therefore another feeling to the song. i really like it. i hope this version is on the album! i cried too when i watched it the second time :) the strings combined with the lyrics and the dance...how can one not cry :D overall i'm very surprised by this release but not disappointed. very well done!

👍👍아 진짜!
You saying my back, is the realest reaction to this performance. I'm just 20, and I feel like 60 watching this.
I wish I had a young strong back again. The dancing was amazing even if it hurt to watch. 😁😉
