- This is an instrumental cover I did of Laura Branigan's Self Control, which was originally released in 1984. Please also check out my Soundcloud account: / juno-dreams
Drum samples used were 808, LinnDrum and Simmons SDS8
The software synths used:
Arturia Minimoog - Bass
FM8 - Soft pad, Wooden plates (Marimba)
Arturia Jupiter - String pad, Synth chords
ImpOscar - Bell1, Bell 2
Kontakt - Funk Guitarist, FS1R sample (Cinema Sweep), Distortion guitar sample
The background vocal and one of the layered guitar tracks was downloaded from karaoke-version website. I just added eq, compression and some reverb.
Love 80's instrumentals... sometimes you just don't wanna hear the lyrics :D
Except this isn't an official released instrumental. It's a cover by someone using a DAW. Still cool though. It's about a 70% match, obviously it's very difficult to completely duplicate an original using a DAW.

@@maccagrabme Nothing is amateur about it at all. Completely authentic. My day job is producing music and programming for various television networks and this is 100% slick and professional. It sounds amazing and nobody would know it wasn't an official label release if the artist hadn't mentioned it was his cover. Hats off to the arranger here. -Cory
@@SoundTailor actually it is better. You can make instruments apart better than in original. That makes it sound a bit different because it is clearer, has better quality. Today's home devices can make better sounds than 80s professional stuff (no joke! It is amazing!). Also the original you hear comes from the tapes or records that is converted into digital format and probably loses some quality.

effing amazing!! sounds pretty much identical! the only critique I would have is the TR808 drumbeat at the beginning and middle transition has several occurrences of the low, high, and mid tom sounds. If you listen to the original you'll see what I mean.
