UCONN 2004 - Pretty much dominated the whole season on the strength of future NBA stars Emeka Okafor & Ben Gordon along with an amazing freshman class including Josh Boone, Marcus Williams and Charlie Villanueva. Throw in the clutch outside shooting from sophomore Rashad Anderson along with incredible defense and you have arguably the best overall UCONN squad ever! They cruised to a 24-6 record and won the Big East Tournament title where they defeated Pitt who was the overall favorite going into the tournament. When the NCAA tournament started the Huskies elevated their game and defeated their opponents by an average of 15 points - their only real challenge came from the #1 seeded Duke Blue Devils in the Final Four - who they beat 79-78 to advance to the championship game.
Sad night for me but I must congratulate Connecticut on winning that game. They were the better team and showed it on the court. Maybe one day my Yellow Jackets will finally win a National Championship. (We have never won one and were only in the Final Four once before)
im a huge uconn fan and i was 5 when they won in 99 and 10 in 2004 but its too bad they lost in the final four this year to msu they should have won tht game...o well theyll be back...
I think this is the only time Georgia Tech ever played in a ncaa basketball national championship game.I do know that this was Connecticut first ever ncaa title win.Okafor as one of the best players on this Connecticut team
This was the first NCAA Title game I remember watching. I was a kid and had only started following college sports in 2003 and I was engrossed in the tournament once it happened. UVA was (and still is) my team, so I was rooting hard for GT, for the sake of the ACC. It's hard to imagine either of these teams making a similar run given their current state, but this is a lot of fun to look back on
yea I no. I didn't put it in this 04 vid but my 2 Final Four from 2004 there is a .4 visual audio delay. Idk y tho. It's in the Duke UCONN gm descript.
@ChainGangSoulja266 Damn man looking good for u guys next year...I'm a UConn diehard so were all still celebrating the championship but next year should be interesting to see how they do under Lamb and Oriakhi's leadership
@ChainGangSoulja266 Yeah dude UNC is the #1 favorite. I never had a problem with UNC I actually picked them to win in 05 08 and 09 so I was happy 2 of the 3 times but I think they are no doubt the favorite this year. UConn could maybe crack top 10 if Napier Oriakhi Lamb and Smith take the next step maybe top 5.
@JMK213- yea i like UCONN too. I was rooting for Butler this yr but i had no problem with UCONN winning it all, congrats dude. I consider them to be in my top 5 fav college b-ball skools. But yea, hopefully Barnes will FSU this yr lol
Man, I actually watched this game and still completely forgot they played GT. That UCONN team was stacked.
I went to GT a few years before, didn't watch college ball that year and had no idea they were in the final
This was the first NCAA championship game I remember. I dont remember much about it but I still remember it.

I'd say this year's team was waay better
This was when I fell in love the the UConn Huskies Program ‼️
This UConn team was fucking amazing
Rashad anderson is my cousin!.. He's trying to make it to the nba. Working out for Miami as of now

The duke semi finals game was the real title game. One of the greatest final four games ever. Ben Gordon was so special that season
Both FF game that year were legendary. It's gotta be the best semifinal round in tourney history.
This game wasn't as fitting to be the Championship game as their match against Duke in the Semifinals. That seemed like a final game for 2004.
Ben Gordon left them nets on🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
2:35........ look at that crowd...
It was held in the Alamodome.

Who is here after number 6
Was a Tech student that year. This hurt to watch but great UConn team. Transferred to Florida from 2005-2007 so all was made up and then some.
Damn tell me where ever you move to next lmao
@JMK213- yessir i am :) lol my autographed UNC Hansbrough jersey is my prized possession haha
@ChainGangSoulja266 Lol great work though I have to give you props. You a UNC fan?
finally got to really watch them win it in 2011. And ill say it again, we will be back with Kevin Ollie, mark my words.
This aged amazing
U-RULE
At Least Georgia Tech Made The Title Game
DITMAS EAGLE and this was the year after Chris Bosh.
anderson and brown should be in the fuckin nba
Someone please tell me why Georgia Tech decided to come out and play the UConn running game rather than slowing the game down?!
Shame this game was mildly exciting. Because the Semi's was the best back to back games on the same day for any Final Four I can remember.
The 06 team should've won a title to,that team was stacked to but they lost to a bracket buster George Mason 🤦🏻
