Gabe and Nick react to U2. Gabe knows about them as a band but not their songs. Nick was convinced he would recognize this one but he didn’t. This is a classic song. Enough said.

There are multiple reasons why U2 opened The Sphere above all others.
1. EVERY tour they are consistently #1 in both total sales, AND more number of tickets sold (huge distinction, because artists at their level of demand usually average more per ticket price than U2, despite U2 being one of the top 1 or 2 touring acts since 1992.
2. Since 92 they have pushed the boundaries of concert technology, performance art, stage design, and touring logistics far more than any other artists. They introduced/invented and made possible the Stage/satelite stage, and helped funnel the technology that went into this. They were the first artists to incorporate a live studio setup on tour. 1st to bring satellite technology on tour. Created the logistics of multiple duplicate stages which revolve around the world in order to bring a massive production from one city to another - while performing in one city, another duplicate stage setup is being installed at the next city. Taylor Swift fans are talking up this logistical feat as if she invented it.., U2 did long before anyone else. They were the first to think of, plan and implement such a process.
3. They continually invested their own money into touring/concert/stage production/performance companies to develop technology and startup companies
4. They have a MASSIVE following. Not only is the size of their audience/fanbase enormous, and world0wide, but a huge portion have a Grateful Dead/Phish cult-like following. People have always travelled to see them. And they see them multiple times, and many across different cities.
NO artist has pushed the concert industry and art further than U2. Not Pink Floyd, Stones, Tool, Swift, EDM artists, Muse, MJ. U2 have continually been at the forefront of the live concert experience at every aspect from video, satellite, audio stage design, lighting, radio, logistics ticket pricing, advocacy, merch, and even down to the smallest details. Even non technical aspects of their live act, like being the first and only act to remove seats at the Apollo theatre main floor, so there is an open General Admission free space to move and be up and dance/rock out.
NO ONE made/makes more sense to open up the Sphere than U2.
Great summary!
WHY are you so AMAZED that they recorded this in Vegas? It works very well as a background for the video and the song. . .WHY is that so unbelievable to you?
Show him Bullet the Blue Sky, The Fly, Until The End Of the World, Exit, mofo, Acrobat,Sunday Bloody Sunday, or Hold me Thrill Me Kiss Me Kill me. If he wants to hear a harder rock side of U2.
And U2 must be reacted to live. No one compares.
You could confidently say that U2 has consistently been the biggest rock band in the world from 1987 till now. Yes others are bigger for a brief time but then fall away, and U2 is still at the top. Sold out 700,000 tickets at the sphere as soon as they went on sale.
Geez, U2 is one of the biggest bands on the planet. How can you not……
The U2 video you are talking about is where the streets have no name and its a banger. Another is one by U2 axl rose from guns n roses calls it the best writing in a love song ever. So many good tunes another U2 song is pride dedicated to martin luther king or bloody sunday in red rocks about a massacre in northern ireland. The band was formed in 1976 the year i was born and they have sold out stadiums across the world for nearly 5 decades across all continents.
My favourite is all i want is you/ where the streets have no name back to back from slane castle ireland 2001. Its amazing over 80,000 people mostly irish on home soil is something special.
Slainte from 🇮🇪
Best live band you can see today.
This was filmed 4-12-1987 after their Los Vegas concert during the first leg of the Joshua Tree tour. This whole album is amazing. If you do Where the Streets Have No Name, which is often suggested after this one, be sure to watch the audio only version before you watch the official music video. The official music video cuts out the epic intro and outro of the song. first time hearing it, you really need the intro and outro to get the full effect of the song. However, you should also watch the official music video if you want to see a video also filmed in public that was truly chaotic and incredible lol
^
I saw U2 @ the Sphere and it wasn't a concert, it was a musical and visual experience like no other. ❤ #u2
U2 also wrote a song for B B King, which they performed with him. This is called 'When Love Comes To Town',
Look at some of U2's previous concerts and the sets they use. They are really on a different scale to anything else. Their 360 degree tour is by far the most expensive and technically advanced in history. The set weighed 400 tons, and needed 300 people and cost $30m just to set the stage up at each location. I suspect that's partly why U2 were chosen for the Sphere - they have the legacy of putting on shows in that type of environment.
Also check out the video for Streets Have no Name, shot live on the roof in LA which was closed down the police
U2 are an Irish band
“I’m Still Standing” from Sing is an Elton John song.
“Candle In The Wind” the tribute song for Princess Diana, is by him. Also the songs from the Lion King are his with Elton singing “Can You Feel The Love Tonight” over the end credits.
You need to see the video where the streets have no name on the top of a building with the cops trying to close the video shoot down
saw them when they played at Northampton Moulton College to promote their debut album Boy.
Also, whilst growing up, all the cinemas had lots of seats but only one screen.
Have seen U2 live here in NZ. Was amazing.
U2 are an Irish rock band from Dublin, formed in 1976.
U2:UV Achtung Baby Live at Sphere (2023-2024)
Great Lyrics
If you want to pick one of the tours they did, go for the ZooTV live from Sydney. Features songs from their greatest album Achtung Baby.
Btw, Bono might be the front and center of U2, but it is actually Larry Mullen Jr's band, the drummer. He started U2. 😉
'I'm Still Standing' is also by Elton John.
Brilliant!
Greg Carroll was a major influence behind this album. I don't think U2 would have made this monstrous record without Greg's death. Bono said the band was in desolate space during the Joshua Tree cover shoot, hence why they used that particular tree.
hi from australia guys, love any reaction you two do together, would love to hear you react to some great aussie music, my first pick for you is billy thorpe and the aztecs doing mama, live on gtk, this song is the birth of pure rock in australia, enjoy
Irish not british
Gabe for LV promoter! lol
Always need more Larry in their videos. Great stuff
And Gabe... talking about Rocket Man and Elton John, your earlier mentioned song I'm Still Standing, was a bit hit for Elton! :)
a good one you should react to is the Rattle and Hum version of Sunday Bloody Sunday or Bullet the Blue Sky from ZOOTV in Sydney
The video where they on the Rooftop is (where the streets have No Name ) My favourite on the Joshua Album is Red Hill Mining Town. But then again i prefer Simple Minds to U2 although Americans only know Don't You Forget About me because of the Film The Breakfast Club.
filmed in Vegas in 1987
Gabe sings "I'm Still Standing" then says the only Elton John song he knows is Rocket Man. hmm :P
It has been a while since Gabe went to the Blue Oyster Bar. We can forgive this time.
Kenyas watching...
Check out "All I Want Is You/Where The Streets Have No Name" Live att Slane Castle. Thank me later!
Could you watch hi ren and do a review it will blow your mind
Gabe only likes U2 because Bono is one of the few men shorter than he is.
Love U2 , but for something completely different I'd love you 2 to do a take on Amy Lees love exists...that would be so funny from you 2 I think...
N'oubliez pas que U2 en espagnol n'est pas U2, c'est udos.
U2 are irish not British
U 2 are not British. They are Irish..
Crap
Ditto….Rolf Harris….dead now thankfully.
