It's sad that this country has lost it's past...more interested in a video @ Justin B. than obtaining knowledge of it's own successes and failures. This series is excellent. It is particularly enlightening to hear President Kennedy. Sadly, few will be exposed to this series. Sadly, the contrast between JFK and all the presidents that followed him gives us an idea of why it's been downhill for this nation (and the world) since Nov. 22, 1963.
Time stamps for myself 3:30 Importance of blockade decision 4:30 the negotiations between the leaders 6:40 so many mistakes were made and they were so close to war 7:45 growing of trust between two leaders 11:45 Kennedy’s thoughts on Cuban Missile Crisis 18:20 introducing everyone 21:30 Kennedy was always trying to avoid nuclear confrontation 30:15 Kennedy’s instincts 43:45 Kruschev was in a hurry to end the crisis 50:45 Kennedy recognised the risk but he didn’t know if the missiles will go 54:05 Kennedy thought it was nuclear nonsense (he was standing alone) but he knew he could not say anything publically - he would be seen as weak 1:03:00 Black Saturday: high point of crisis, both leaders understood they had to stop 1:04:25 REALLY GOOD POINT: knowing when to stop, confidence being dangerous 1:05:00 it’s a good thing both leaders didn’t act on their initial passions “Once both sides realised that war was nigh, neither side wanted to win any longer. It was their ability to use time effectively to make decisions and not go with the rash reaction… Had those men acted on their initial passions, the world would have been a very different place” 1:07:20 Kennedy having to deal with crazy advisors 1:09:00 Oops drama between historians lol
