I'm Dutch and I love kickboxing, muay thai, MMA. Every time I hear a fighter talk about Ramon Dekker's gives me goosebumps.

I spoke to a few dutch guys in Glasgow one from breda an they didn't know who Ramon was ... so very sad such a great man should slip by without the country he loved recognition... RIP diamond.

He was a raging bull, but he wasn't blindly attacking or anything. He combined viciousness and determination with strategy and skill.

I am a student of Ramon Dekkers and a can tell you he is the strongest and the best a ever say straight forward to the opponent till he breaks them down to a k.o. .
He died of heart attack under the bridge in Breda and with his head on the curb . The place where he died has now a picture of the great master . R.i.P. to me teacher rest in peace , you were always me hero , till the day we meet again only love and respect for the master .

JWP is a great Thai Boxer. Great guy, great fighter, he used to post in the "K-1 fans" forum as well. Dekkers is a legend. These guys are so far beyond the UFC level of striking

Dekkers was a 8 X world champ in 5 weight classes i990s , is fight record 225 fights- 185 wins - 35 losts - 5 draws and 95 KOs he was only 5.7 in high , only no Thai to win fight of the year by Thailand , and he got OMB of King of Thailand
You forgot to mention, many of his losses where controversial. Because in Thailand you had to win from a Thai by knock out, otherwise they (judges) would not let you win by points.
Hey fought so many times 2 or 3 times a week. That's real sick bro.
And he never got knocked out. Knocked down, yes, but never eyes closed, he allways stood up.

@@uzialadogan5240 No, not every loss of Dekkers was controversial. In some, Dekkers was clearly outclased. For example, Dekkers vs Jomhod
Dekker's hands were a different weapon - the Thai's of old did not generally use the hands like western boxers. Dekker's woke them up to this...or rather sometimes put them to sleep. He was awesome with a capital 'A'.

...soz forgot to add - Ramon Dekkers fought Thai, but mostly called his style Kick boxing in the early years. He fought them his own style, his own way, you only have to watch him to see this. RIP - A true legend.
But he fought them with their rules is whats KEY.

MY PERSONAL OPINION.
Parr is confusing Dekker's injuries and especially his right ankle with an infection he got because of his injuries.
And yes, they did at some point wanted to amputate his leg.
After that Ramon had to completely change his way of fighting, using his right leg to a minimum.

Hardly ever gave a jab or trough a soft 'feeler' kick. With Ramon it was mostly ko punches and kicks. He just could not hold back. That's how I remember him

Great legend as anybody says. But he died when he was in his 40s like most fighters who put themselves through this kind of body stress.

The guy lived 3 or maybe 4 lifetimes worth in a very short 42 years. The man will be remembered for the absolute gentleman he was out of the ring and total warrior inside.
