As a CAT mechanic who's worked on multiple skid steers, I cant wait to work on these. Love the extra space around the engine and the hidden drive lines
Love the door access with the arms not blocking it from opening my 242B is terrible for stopping the door from opening as I work on uneven ground have to constantly make sure arms are fully down before opening door ❤❤❤❤❤❤ it's great Cat has been listening to customers to keep making a leading machine well done 👍👍👍👍
The weight of the case tv620B, power of the ASV135 and the look and boom architecture similar to a bobcat T86. I can't hate on CAT for looking at the market and trying to adapt. My favorite part of this is the removable door. I still think they should go to a roll up door, but that's just me.
With the dozer tech going into this machine, this was one of the first questions asked. But Cat does not plan to offer steel tracks for this machine at launch.
Here's a good one for you to answer.. when designing the new water tanks, did anyone think about loading high sided trucks ? I don't think so. It's going to give operators a bad neck !!! You need a bit of visibility out the roof window. Personally I got 3 on order 2 coming next week and we are already talking of modifications to the water tanks
The Cat owned Perkins engines are probably manufactured in Griffin GA or Desford UK. This is the same 3.6L engine that has been running in their D1-D3 and BHLs.
That would be nice. Was just at the local dealer and I noticed that the new 303.5 has a Perkins that said “assembled in china”, that’s unfortunate as I will avoid an engine from china.
@@deeper4cheaper128 That'd leave out most small engines for compact equipment from Yanmar, Kubota, John Deere, Bobcat, Case/New Holland, etc. Most are either built there or have major engine components built there. Good luck with that and I hope you can push a machine.

This things is a beast. Bet it's gonna be close to $200k.
Insane, but true.
I just got a quote for a 275 standard flow for 115k, id guess 285 around $140k
@@digginandbuildinwv7012 That would be reasonable compared to the competition. But I know 299D3 XEs were going for more than that.
@sccolbert guess it depends on the dealer and where your at. Price gouging does exist in this industry. But a 299xe here was 115-120k.
@@sccolbert299d3 is like 115 depending on what programs you got in there. Assuming you don’t have a work tool or something extra
Wow the dozer suspension is cool!
Best thing about cat machines is operators comfort
I would agree with that. Had cat now for 15 or 16 years
In the market now, how long before release?
I wish I could buy one maybe one day
Is there a steel track option?
I think I saw on another video on this that you can get STEEL tracks 😊

Hoping you were putting the kubota door into it.

2 yard capacity bucket?
4-1 bucket 2 yard capacity too?
Very nice machine. Normal people will never be able to afford one.
How much does it weigh?
The 285 will have an operating weight of 13,307 lbs, and the 285 XE will have an operating weight of 13,669 lbs.
This many years in the game and still no roll up door. I guess Cat is following the automotive CEO's and NOT listening to its consumers.
Where is the new “Perkins designed” engine manufactured?

Kubota still has the best skid steer. They have a better door option to.
Kubota is the homeowner version of equipment
Cat is overpriced
You get what you pay for
Looks like Caterpillar copied the bobcat 86T nice try on the original thought Cat
But the cabs are dung on the bobcat 😂
