Is Taiwan and Beijing mandarin very different? And how do you tell words apart when they have the same spelling and tone when spoken? For example: Jiu3 = long time & jiu3= number 9
That’s why learning characters are important:) 學寫字很重要喔！ We native can tell the difference immediately, accent, the way you talk, vocabulary, grammar...etc
