Good tour but I’ll add a few comments to help others, perhaps with their deliberations. The road you walked is called the Caribbean Street. It runs between the Macao (pr. maw-CAW-o) and the Bavaro (pr. BAW-vaw-row), the accent is on the upper case portion. Practise makes perfect. The first “club” you started at, right at the beach is the Naiboa (pr. naw-ee-BOW-aw). That Riu resort does not have beachfront so that ‘club’ is intended as a restaurant and bar for use by the Naiboa guests when they walk down the Caribbean St. to enjoy the beach. I expect the Macao now has its own gym, but that big blue ‘house’ you pointed out, used to house a gym for Macao guests. It’s been about 10? years since I’ve stayed at that complex but back then I rated them as follows 1 Bavaro, 2 Macao, 3 Palace PC, and Bambu and Naiboa share 4th place. Unable to comment on the Riu Republica (pr. ray-POOB-lee-caw), which is a 45 minute walk up the beach, as it was built since I last was in PC. But one can’t go too far wrong visiting any of these Riu resorts. Enjoy.
