Yes, it is possible that when we apply force in one direction then displacement occurs in opposite direction.
Example- we are pulling a bucket from the well.
We applied force at downwards but bucket goes upwards means displacement occurs at opposite direction.
In this case work done by gravity is negative and by us is positive
