The Blooms That Broke Us sounds like such a great book. Thank you for the recommendations. I'm so sorry for the loss of your husband.

I love Little House on the Prairie! I read Little House in the big woods and I need to read the rest of the books in the series. So cool your kids are enjoying it! I'm interested in reading Little Women too! I love your videos and we don't mind the kids in the background (at least I don't lol) I'm a mom so I totally get it! ❤

The whole series is such fun. I haven’t read them since I was a kid so I’m enjoying the nostalgia.
Thank you! After posting a video, I often wonder “ is this even interesting enough to watch??” Lol! I enjoy everyone else’s booktube videos so I don’t know why I second guess myself!

The Little House series is so fun. When I read them as a kid, I wanted to try doing all the “olden” things they described lol. Like making butter and making snow candy!

@@bethanybringsbooks LOL! Yes, very much! Little Men is rather similar in tone, too!
I think I wanted to make the snow candy, as well!

I’m 59 and hadn’t read Little Women until late last year when I started it. I’m at the place where Amy was punished at school over the limes. So Mr. Davis hit her on the palm more than once. He should’ve just told her not to bring them anymore. I like the faith content but did you notice Marmee said she didn’t believe in corporate punishment. The Bible says to spare the rod and spoil the child. But Marmee said a lesser punishment Amy would have benefited from in that situation. But surely she’s not against spanking. Just wondering. I still like the book so far. 😊

I think Marmee has a gentle parenting style lol. I know some people have different opinions about how to apply that verse - I wonder what the general thought was during that time period? It’s interesting to read things written back then and realize they have the same problems we do today!

@@bethanybringsbooks I’d have to believe most parents used a paddle, switch, etc. until society started calling it child abuse. My father in law said he was beaten with a 2x4! That’s over the top! But the Bible says it will hurt them but it won’t kill them. I think people won’t have to use those things as much if parents are fair, firm, fun and faithful as Adrian Rogers used to preach. I may have something new to say when I’m finished. Amy’s my favorite. Go figure!😍
