      TBF, humanity were not worth much to the Gods in the first place. And other Gods only appealed to Demeter to loosen up cause the amount of sacrifices to the Gods decreased due to bad harvests caused by Demeter.

    For someone who's motherly and benevolent, Demeter is also the kind of goddess you wouldn't want to mess with. Like most mothers with children, nature is her beloved children and try to cross her by harming her "children" will unleash her wrath that is so dangerous it probably make even Athena shiver to her knees. 😬😬

    • @wendychavez5348
      @wendychavez5348 4 роки тому +74

      Right?! I always pictured her as a kindly mother figure, but mother bears can be kindly too ... until their cubs are approached.

    • @Mr_Jester980
      @Mr_Jester980 4 роки тому +32

      @Wendy Chavez Yeah I usually think that someone like Demeter is just, y'know, eternally kind and benevolent. But after researching about her, you're right. She's no different from an average mother bear.

    • @Mr_Jester980
      @Mr_Jester980 4 роки тому +18

      @Wendy Chavez If an average mother can be scary for many when she's on her bad mood, Demeter is enough to make herself something out of a horror movie.

      A fine example is Nyx, the Greek Goddess of night and all nocturnal and weather/climate related things. Just like Gaea (who is her sister), she is mother to A LOT of creatures and gods, and if there's anyone that can match Gaea's motherly instincts, it's only Nyx. A minor God of trickery and deception happens to be her son, and usually she is very friendly to the Olympians. But often, this child of her approaches Zeus and irritates him, doing mischievous stuff, and then he runs away. Zeus usually does follow him so as to catch him and punish him, but when he sees this God hiding behind his mother Nyx, Zeus stops dead in his tracks and gives up, because whenever he tries to mess with a child of Nyx, so INCREDIBLY bad stuff happens to him, that Nyx is reportedly one of the only few deities that even the King of all Deities, Lord of the Olympians, God Zeus, is SCARED OF. That very well shows how crazy powerful even the sweetest of mothers can be, when harm befalls their children.

    • @Mr_Jester980

      @Mohini Rai Wait until you get to Parvati, the Hindu goddess of wealth. After her husband Shiva, the god of destruction and creation, accidentally killed Ganesha, his son who's also the god of fortune, intelligence and strength, by cutting off Ganesha's head, Parvati was so angry and upset that she swore to Shiva that if he couldn't find a way to resurrect their son, she will destroy the whole universe in the form of her alter ego, Kala. Afraid, Shiva went out in search of a new head to replace Ganesha's old head. Eventually he met an elephant who willingly gave up his head and with this new head, he managed to resurrected his son. Thus, saving the universe. *Moral of the story: mothers are like mother bear. They're sweet, kind and motherly until you provoked her, especially when you try to cause harms to their children.*

      @@truthspreader1996 In native American folklore it's said that when a person devourers another person's flesh they are to become the windigo, a demon-like creature that eats humans.
      It's way more complicated than that but that's the jist of it.
