One of the best episodes. This one shows my height. Thanks for posting this. Hal Cooper who directed the last three seasons of Dear John is seen as an extra early in the establishing hallway shot. He is on the right side of the screen walking to the right with a young student type teen guy. Hal has white hair around the edges and is bald on top. Hal can be seen in some interviews at UA-cam.

In addition to Dear John I liked F Troop, Get Smart, the British sitcom, Keeping Up Appearances, Police Squad and Get a Life. There were many more important ones such as I love Lucy and Mary Tyler Moore and You'll Never Get Rich ( The Phil Silvers Show ), but Dear John is of course at the top of my favorites. Thanks.

During the show I said only one word. "Ow." That was offstage when I was in the closet where Kirk was trying a hair remover on my legs. I was supposed to have the last line in the final episode but we were cancelled before the fifth season began. NBC decided to drop the Ralph character to show there was positive progress in the club. It was a dumb thing to do because comedy is based on failure. Harry did very well. He became the star of a hit Broadway show. Everyone liked Harry.

It was not planned. It just developed and became a point of curiosity. It was like Harpo Marx and the Darryls on the Bob Newhart Show and the Bartles and James and Penn and Teller non speaking person. It was an excellent chance for me to do things that brought laughter by not speaking.

Tom, with the exception of that one word "ow", was it always planned from the start that your character wouldnt have any lines to speak throughout the series? Did you get signed into this series knowing that you wouldnt have any lines? Was there any reasons as to why you got no lines?
