As a European this faux formality of not calling the professors by their actual names just seems like the silliest thing in the world. I am a student (and staff) at a top QS university, and I've never had the urge to embarrass myself in that way and have a conversation with a title and not a person. Having a title is like being rich - the ones that actually have got it going on doesn't need that constant validation to soothe a fragile ego. If a professor ever talks to a student in way that even resembles "I am a professor, therefore you must [insert random bla bla blah]" then you instantly know they are just posing. Or being dicks obviously. Either way, not the people that will get you anywhere.
I go to college and I am experienced in the trade I'm taking. I wait for the younger students to apply themselves and say an answer after the teacher asks a question. Nobody will apply or try to answer so I do after a 2 or 3 minutes of silence and I either get ignored or they make a comment that I know everything. So I miss classes because I feel it's better without me there but I feel this isn't right and feel I should speak up on it.
I like that he so casually calls the professor of his Larry. Good job.

Honestly, office hours are the best. I’ve gone to at least one professor a semester.
I just walked right in and they were all happy to see me.
Honestly, me and my friend attend every office hour appointment and I have seen notable differences in my grade after doing so.
