people get sooo mad when their brand doesnt win. really out here saying ktm paid them off😂
donut I don’t think KTM necessarily paid them but I do think MXA is a bit biased
donut well for one they were constantly telling improvements they did to the KTM and Husky and none of the other bikes and KTM has just been getting first for the past 6 years even when there were better bikes
ktm is the lightest, best clutch, best brakes. awesome powerband great handling and good suspension.....its the best
MXA shootouts are more technical, with longer testing periods, and more realistic assessments of the bikes. They're not afraid to discuss negatives...they discuss clutch problems, suspension issues, air filter problems, and other significant items (like 18lb weight differences) that the other shootouts either don't notice, don't test long enough to find, or simply gloss over. Some of the big criticisms leveled in the other tests have simple, free fixes. Some of the problems the other tests don't bring up have very expensive, or near impossible (cut 18 lbs of weight?) solutions.
The test of time is the real test, this is why MXA's tests reign supreme.
Yamaha wasn't the only bike they raced and stood the test of their race time.
finally a shootout that makes sense.. it’s about racing performance, not what my grandfather could ride better a day in a track.. on the other hand a 1st place doesn’t mean that we all guys have to buy the ktm.. everyone may fit better in another bike.. but the shootout is shootout ! thanks mxa !
kawi has a problem "this should have been done from the factory"
ktm has a problem "all you need is a drill"
Theses guys are super bias. Honda, Yamaha and kawi were the podium bikes this year
For most people who ride for fun only, the RMZ450, which can be found for 5995.00 is the best bike. Lowering link, softer fork springs and very little engine massaging and it becomes a great bike.
Gets 5th in every shootout, wins mxa. 🤔
Hahaha
Mxa is sleeping with KTM for a long time.
They have become so predictable
Because other shootouts are based more on whats changed the most from the previous year, not necessarily the best bike to race
@@27sk8er4life how a bike with bad mapping and the worst suspension of the class, can be the best bike to race???
andreas stefanou it’s the second best suspension in the class, 1st is Yamaha
Great Shoot out I like the fact MXA is racing these bikes week in and week out with multiple guys of age and ability they are not going to smooth tracks on off days with just ten guys riding around that are getting free bikes from other manufactures. If you listen closely it dose matter to at least MXA if the clutch and other things last more then 10 hours on a bike witch plays into the final winner of a shoot out. I for one think in this day and age a $9000.00 bike should come with a clutch that last more than just a few hours maybe I'm just crazy but that kind of thing matters.
exactly. not fair to people spending that much money to give them a test from 2 days of riding.
Best review video out there. Thank you!
They are all great bikes. Anyone would be happy to get any of those
I always admire MXA tests. Good job!
Interesting to see this shootout from a racing perspective.
Because the other publications are giving different results.
I get the racing part of it, but I don't want to go off of a racing aspect when it's the same track every weekend. Race at other tracks as well to get a better all around idea. That's just my opinion.
Ron Shuler you speaking to me Ron? Cause I thought it was clear I understood this is from a racers perspective by explicitly mentioning it in my comment?
I keep seeing all these 450 shootouts. When are we getting the big 250f shootout?
Could you guys possibly do a list of best to worse of all of the 450 bikes from 2018 AND 2019? Hope you will.
I like MA because they will actually customize bikes if the bikes need it. They also are the last to release their results because they ride them for much longer
@@andreasstefanou5898 They did slightly modify the ktm and husky but you did not pay close enough attention. The main complaint with the yz was the weight, so do you want them to start buying after market parts to trim down weight. Rewatch the video before you say the only bike they modified was the ktm and husky. Watch the Kawasaki part and tell me what they did to that bike. Polishing the push rod in my book is a modification. (And throwing stuffer springs in the honda) let's just agree that the rmz450 iz just too far behind to modify lol.
@@gynn4622 Ktm has bad mapping.
Carburetor works better than the map of 2019 ktm. This is not easy to fix. Plus ktm has the worst suspension by far. This is not easy to fix either.
Yamaha has the best suspension and an application on the phone to make even your own map.
This is technology my friend.
Few years ago they used to say, ktm has e-start has hydraulic clutch more horsepower etc etc.
Now what?
They even told us that Honda was too powerful for them this year
Hahaha
By the way History show undeniably that Japanese bikes and especially Yamaha and Honda are much more reliable that KTM.
Nobody argues about that.
MXA forget to mention that also
@@andreasstefanou5898 unless you have put 100+ hrs on every single one of these bikes you cannot attest for reliability. If you maintain any bike it will last. I am willing to bet that you haven't put these bikes through their paces just like I have not. With that I do not understand how you can disect a bike and speak of its mapping but you have never thrown a leg over the bike YOURSELF.
This shootout is not be complete until someone explain why is the water ''prestone green''? 2019 radiators are leaking?
If you buy a bike based off shootout results you are doing yourself a disservice. I was going to buy a KTM until I rode one and found that I could not get comfortable. I have currently ridden all the new bikes and for me Honda and Suzuki fit me best. I recommend riding as many bikes as you can because everyone is different. Also these test riders are A class or pro riders, go to any local race event and the biggest classes are always C so the majority of riders are C class speed.
I second this.
I´ve only ridden about 5 or 6 other bikes, and not from every make. But I found out, that, for me, the KTMs and Huskys always were the best, although, the KTMs are a tad better.
Yamahas are close too, but always a bit heavier and wider.
and Suzukis just don´t fit my riding style.
I own a 2018 rmz250 and race it comfortably plus have also won a state title Suzuki's are the best
Would you guys recommend a 1993 cr125 bike?? I'm just getting into riding
Try to get something newer, but 125 2 stroke, or 250 four stroke, are good for just starting, in my opinion
@@otisjordan5613 just wondering not arguing but why something newer? The older ones are cheaper and still looks in good condition. Like I said just wondering thanks!
mxa is the only test with credibility
Suzuki RMZ450😎
I hate shootouts because these guys think they’re opinion is gospel. Also it’s not about what bike “IS” the lightest but which bike “FEELS” the lightest. MXA doesn’t realize apparently that the rider is everything. So pick which color you like or which dealer takes care of you best that’s all you need to think about.
100% agree, also MXA is constantly stroking there ego. MXA is the worst media outlet.
That is why RacerX no longer does shoot out. Ping him self said money changes people opinions on bikes.
@@kirkwilliams6938 ua-cam.com/video/Yrgbh5d2Z9Y/v-deo.html
Watch this, it's my clue.
"Feels the lightest" Is a load of bull shit. Actual numbers don't lie. Mass centralization can only do so much.
When are the 250f shoot coming
We can promise you someone is going to win this shootout
NO SHIT SHERLOCK😂
The editing in this shootout is dope asf!
I have the utmost respect for MXA and their opinions, and this is coming from a Honda fan boy! They're the real source to listen to...like it or not. BUT, to suggest the Kawasaki can't be number 1 because it is a first year model is stretching it a little bit...in my opinion:)
I'm guessing you guys in Motocross Action magazine you guys got Oklahoma #1 and LSU #2
Wow, great video!!
you guys 100% get paid my ktm all other shoot outs have the ktm around 4th or 5th and you have it first
i cant argue the results! kinda agree about the 2019 crf 450r as i own one but minor adjustments and when a single exhaust setup releases and i get a hinson and hydro on it it should be an awesome bike! i wanted to go ktm but im just to die hard honda lol!
Great vid
You have to stay on your suspension clickers for the Honda 450, read the Manuel and you’ll have your suspension feeling great all throughout the day
Anybody thrown off by his passion for KTM
The only shootout this year where the ktm finished before the husky, and the ktm finishes above top 3
Worth the wait !!
That green water.. some serious pollution going on
Why does KTM's seat remind me of a ribbed condom?
BTW, great review and video. I only trust MXA for shootout results.
I'm ditching my ribbed seat because it pulls my pants down. No kidding. I ordered the optional lower and smoother seat. On back order.
Haha funny! Good to know that I don't need a gripper seat. I'll stick to my stock 2017 one.
One of the best magazines around and dirt bike is right there to so l will get some people saying a lot about those magazines but that's ok l just got to have the best of both worlds....
The KX is by far the winner.
Kx is one of the best if not the best but their bikes were deemed the most unreliable bikes of them all Yamaha and Honda are the top bikes over time
Glad to see its the opposite of what everything else says.
How the actual fuck did KTM get 1st when EVERY other media has been giving it 5th smh
That water looks disgusting 😂
MAYBE you should have mentioned that the ktm's msrp is 9,899 and the husky's is 9,999
Odd results
Forget what these guys say. Honda for my money. They have been inn the forefront of most important innovations in MX since the 70"s when they put out the Elsinore. The only company that is constantly pushing the envelope in every screw that goes on those bikes every year. The rest can only follow.
GDV Let 'em no my man. They been layin it down as long as long as Aunt Jemima been puttin down the icky sticky.
This is so bias Bc “of course” the Husqavarna and Ktm were both on the top spots. In my opinion I believe the Kawasaki has had the most improvements and it could well be in 1st place and the Honda in 2nd place with the change in the frame and it’s power
Just hanging out on the shores of Glycol Lake I see
...
One thing that is for sure - Suziki finishes last
I love how they casually say to fix the ktm's bottom end power all you have to do is drill holes in your brand new bike & if you own a drill it won't cost you a thing bahahaha
Ummm wtf it’s about the bike that’s best off the showroom floor? Meanwhile they say the ktm needs airbox cutouts and they basically should’ve just said the air forks suck. Meanwhile they say the Yamaha is noisy and need the new map, they didn’t even mention the power tuner app on a smartphone smh
When ktm pays people off🤔🤔🤔
Your just jealous. All the the bike are great! Why does everyone want to hate KTM/Husky so bad? Makes no sense.
Actually ktm pay more money on advertising than all the rest japanese brands together.
Its a fact.
That explains a lot
For real, they said the Yamaha was noisy and need a new map, Ummmm did they forget to mention you can adjust the bike from your phone, meanwhile the ktm suspension sucks and it has no bottom end. “But it just needs minor changes”
@@Sackets Honda is too powerful for them this year and that is a bad thing.
Few years ago they used to say that "ktm is the king of the dyno".
Kawasaki this year have some imperfections so maybe next year.
Ktm have some imperfections also but hey, MXA customized everything on Ktm so no problem....
If KTM was making the shootout it wouldn't be so biased
Love how aggressive the narrator 😂
OK... in 1981 and '82 I was drilling holes in the airbox of my 125 Yamaha's. In fact there was a company making plastic plugs with foam in them for a super clean look. Fast forward to 2019, and engineers still haven't figured out an engine needs to breath? So we pay $14,000 G give or take for a new motorcycle, in 2019 and are asked to bust out our drills? Love the KTM and have owned a couple, love them... but really?
Good info! I appreciate the details compared to other crappy "shootouts".
cough *Dirt Bike Magazine* cough
I so disagree. I think yamaha, kawi and Honda should be 1st 2nd and 3rd. The last 2 years ktm has not been doing their best. I talked to over 20 rides that tested the 2019 450 bikes and they all said ktm was more like 4 or 5th place
Your just jealous. All the the bike are great! Why does everyone want to hate KTM/Husky so bad? Makes no sense.
Only MXA choose ktm for the win
The rest of the world put ktm in fifth
Mxa is sleeping with ktm.
They have become so predictable.
You can tell by the way the talk that they are so biased
I'm with Yamaha so l will always pick it...
.......Kinda bunk to give 1st and 2nd to ktm, am I wrong to say that?
no its bull shit how the sell pretty much the same bike 2 times cant husky just make there own completely diffrent bike
i think husky with kyb kit suspension is the overall winner for years and years for now new yzf is the best private amateur choice
Honda 💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼
Where did they record this ? At a nuclear energy plant the water is so green
kawi should have been #1 so what its a first year generation i bet it has more power then all these other bikes in the shootout
Q: "What does Suzuki need to do to be competitive with the other big bore machines next year?"
A: Tear it all apart and redesign literally every part of it
MXA is the only mag to put KTM as a winner. Anyone else noticed a common pattern?
Mxa is most biased magazine ever.
I wasn't expecting anything else to be honest
That aren't biased at all! In years past they would put KTM last for years! Honda and Yamaha used to win them all the time like KTM does now.
@@caydenthompson126 Ktm pays the bills nowadays.
That the reason why.
KTM is the main sponsor of the most magazines through advertising.
Yamaha didn't give a penny on advertising to MXA for years.
KTM has a bad map(not good engine character) and the worst suspension by far.
Previous years they used to tell us Ktm has electric start hydraulic clutch more horsepower etc etc.
Now what?
They even told us that Honda is too powerful for them....
Whatever MXA...
If KTM was making the shootout it would be less biased
motocrossactionmag.com/two-stroke-tuesday-grant-lanstons-works-2004-ktm-250sx/
Not biased? I have had personal discussions with both Hahny and Grant when i worked with them and they literally hated the bike. But MXA knew better than them?
Its kinda a contradictory shootout but I guess it makes sense if they're imply that all pro/expert riders were testing them over a extended period of time.
KTM won being inferior to last years bike but if you do this and that its fine?? I have a KTM but was still like wuhhhhh?????
So sad to see Honda fall from grace.....jkjk, they're more worried about the 2019 CRF450L (just like me)
The big red is back! in power anyways
Kawi gets 4th? lol what a joke.
It's really just speculation, I have a 2018 YZ250 but I'm not shoving my dick in the muffler. I'll ride anything....
Now I know where antifreeze comes from!
Did KTM give Jody a BMW just before the shootout ?
What’s wrong with that water lol
Its nice that mxa made some modifications on the bikes to make them better.
I only wonder why they did it only with Ktm and Huskys. 😂😂😂
You caught that too. "The KTM is inferior to last years model but if you drill out the airbox its better" oh and pros dont mind because they dont use the bottom end much. Theirs a few pro riders out there that ride in the lower rpm, KR94 comes to mind
All they did was drill and that solved the problem for free. Other bikes had bigger problems that would need after market parts etc
@@nakkisampyla4460 Don't get me wrong
KTM and all the new bike are awesome bikes but none of them is perfect
For me the biggest problem with the KTM is nobody seems to really like the air forks, especially when you compare it with the spring forks.
That's not easy to fix either
Is that Lake Springfield? Mr Burn's nuclear plant dumping in there.
You never compare it with TM or ALTA.... I really think Suzuki isn't that much better anymore.
LMAO ktm and husky 1&2 those two were at the bottom of the list on every other shootout. How much they paying you guys ?
im pissed about the green water
i almosta cant watch this vid
Unfortunately, MXA just proved more so than any other year that they are completely biased. How does every single other outlet rank the KTM/Husky near the bottom and yet, oh, here's MXA again with the 1/2. They try to be "different" in their "approach to testing" but in fact they are just full of shit. I read MXA for the technical articles, just sucks to see them so grossly attached to a brand of motorcycle. The reality is 9/10 dudes can go buy any one of these bikes and be competitive in their class, and have a bitchin time racing. Yes, even the RMZ. That bike is actually the best value because of how cheap you can get them. Jody needs to fucking retire and go drive his Mercedes.
So different to other shootouts
Yeah I've ridden MX before. Here's my 2019 verdict... Honda, bit of a dead feeling in the centre of the bike and heavy rear end.. Kawasaki, pin sharp turn in but power low on exit... KTM, mad as a brush chasing a dog... HUSKY.... The dog.. Yamaha, fast but dull. ...SUZUKI, the only bike you should hand over money for, but keep some back for Yoshimura goodies or you'll get left behind... Right I'm off fishing.
You know that those teams get real angry When they lose
ktm clearly paid these guys off to advertise there bikes lol they took 5 minutes out of the video just to talk about ktm
Wow didn’t see that coming🙄
Yamaha 4 Life !!!
Why would you take the photoshoot to lake elsinore lmao
I thought the nuclear lake looked very good next to the bikes all lined up
what???? that was some weird things to say wow. ping#101 said a slipon on the suzuki and i was his favorit bike. was all the testriders ktm riders or what weird
Slip on and fully reworked suspension, but yeah still, all the bikes are there or therabouts these days anyway. Pick your favourite color.
Funny how they made modifications to the KTM and Husqvarna to make them better and left all the other bikes stock. 🤔
Wow, Kawasawki didn’t win? Nice. Japanese bikes will be as good when they put attention to detail in their bikes. Kawasawki is on the right path.
We don’t even need to watch the shoot outs anymore and I’m not saying this cause I’m brand loyal it’s because they always pick the same two bikes to win every time like people actually want something new from this channel even though the riders liked them the most it’s just predictable but it’s not as interesting when the two same bikes win every year
Not a good shootout review in my opinion.
These shootouts are technically useless. Depending on which one you watch you get a completely different outcome. The last one I watched had Honda in the top spot. That’s a big difference than this one. Bottom line is it’s all about user preference.
9:22 SICK!
The truth is harsh, but so is spending 10k for a toy..for most weekend warriors, which is the lion share of this market, any of these bikes won't see half of their potential.
I recognize that lake at the beginning. It’s Lake Elsinore. I live here. The lake is so disgusting and full of algae. I have to look at that pea soup every frickin day. They shouldn’t have done it by Lake Elsinore
This guys just goes of what he thinks don't listen to him crf450 are the best then yz 450 then tc450
Every other shootout has the KTM near last, Kawasaki first... strangeeeeeeeeeee hmmmmmmm 🤔
450 2 strokes are way faster !!
The only problem being that they don't exist... and would not be faster overall, except on a drag race.
Wide000 They do exist. RM400, YZ490, ect. Less weight, with more power in the same chassis =faster over all !! 2 strokes weigh much less making way more power !!
grabir01 Surprising examples... You are aware that bikes from the seventies and eighties are absolutely no match for today's bikes? I mean, not even close? The examples you are giving are from the jurassic period. Being a dinosaur myself, I have been in the sport forever and still ride. You give the example of a yz490... how many hp do you think this aircool bike have compared to a 55/60 hp recent 450? Not to mention the difference in handling, suspension, brakes, tractability, balance, ergonomics, etc... Night and day. Around a track a modern 450 destroy any of these older 2 strokes, including the great KX or CR 500 in their original forms.
Here is an interesting example: www.vitalmx.com/forums/Old-School-Moto,22/YZ465-Horsepower,1241080

When Ktm pay you 11000 dollars to make this
Everyone is bouncing around the idea of MXA being different to every other review, which I correct. But if you actually listened they did they testing over months while racing the bikes. Other reviews were just one day rides which isn’t nearly enough time to see what components are going to fail. Flog the bikes and figure out the bugs for us, MXA I applaud you guys for giving a dead honest racers perspective, not some clubman that has spent his last 5 years on clapped out trailbike, keep it up guys!
