Great video Nick I really enjoyed that, it brought back the thought of the heat wave though, but aside from the heat it was a great weekend and we have some good memories 🙂
I'm a hobbyist/former trade worker now living in Tacoma, Washington. Imagine my surprise when I turned on UA-cam after having done some maintenance on my Rhadinocentrus ornatus "Seary's Creek" tank. A rainbowfish expert brought some eggs of these fish to a presentation he gave to my aquarium club, the Greater Seattle Aquarium Society, a couple of years ago. I would have to say that at this point all the fish in this area came from his batch of eggs. As of last month they've made their way to California, Sacramento region, in trade for some orchids. You've provided us with fantastic information on keeping these fish, and now I feel a lot better about deciding to try unplugging the aquarium heater yesterday. I have a lot to say about these fish, they're delightful and INCREDIBLY hardy and PROLIFIC. I'll be sharing this video with my friend and club, thank you!
So sweet to see you and Sarah together. I really miss the videos you used to make in your fish room. Can you show us more in your new shop and what you are working on?
I can’t get over how great this video was. This is literally like something I would see on BBC or Discovery… such great filming and editing, your narration is fantastic and you kept things flowing so well. Cheers to you buddy 🎉
Great filmmaking!. I like how you were able to create an educational narrative from the footage you took. I don't see that often on youtube, it had the effectiveness of a BBC nature doc. Its attention to detail like this that make this kind of video worthwhile. Thanks!
What an amazing well put together video! I love seeing Australia as I am from Ontario and will probably never go to Australia. Those fish are so beautiful and I was amazed that they had babies. Have a nice day!
You and Sara(h?) seem like a great couple, you're both curious about the natural world and willing to trek out to find it. Keep that curiosity about each other, too. It's a wonderful way to continue to support each other as you learn and grow through the decades. Wishing you both the best, and hoping to come along for the video, lol!
Omg! Wow! What a video! I absolutely loved every single second of this. Such a professional job Nick! It's great to see you and your gf spending quality time in nature. Btw congratulations on the fry .Thanks for sharing mate 😊
💙 Congratulations 💙 on your catch and on the spawn !!! Personally, I would love to have some of the blue ones !!! You did an amazing job and produced an awesome video !!!
You guys are so cute. I would watch these videos everyday! It looks like I’ll need to visit Australia some day soon- and I’ll definitely make a stop at your fish room❤
Heck yes, I recently went out with a buddy and caught a few ornate rainbows, as well as a bunch of empire gudgeon and glassfish. Aquariums looking well full now.
I’m from the states, so I love seeing your video and country. When you went over the sand dune it was breathtaking. 😮 Thank you for an excellent video Nick.
this is like a professional doco almost , amazing insights on a small creek next to a road which can be threaten anyday! Its certainly a different view underwater.
Living in Scandinavia, this is not something we can see in our back yard. As a Rainbow fish lover, this was awesome to watch. Fish in their natural envoriement is always best, but as a hobby aquarist, keeping them i a tank is the next best thing. So beautiful down under, thanks for those beautiful over and underwater shots/film.
Really interesting and well done video. You are very fortunate to have Sarah willing to trap fish with you. I have a hard time getting someone to even feed my fish. Keep on making such good videos!!
My jealousy is through the roof!!😂 Canadian who’s always wanted to visit Australia, and obsessed with Rainbowfish. Well done!! This was exquisite to watch!❤❤
You have inspired me to take the kids out this Easter and check out some local creeks with our snorkels on. Fantastic video as always. Also happy to say that the Angel fish we bought a few weeks back from you made it to its new home in the sunny coast and is thriving in our tank 👌
Your living the dream. I hope your able to create a new line of rhads, ive been working on a strain from Currumbin creek area. their color variations are wild. Thanks for the video. Very high end production.
Fascinating. As an ex microbiologist (of sorts!), I'd love to take a mobile lab (if I had one!) and do some studies there. Fish habitats are v interesting, I'd love it if you kept doing this type of filming and educating us about your natural places.
Hey Nick! Just visited your store I didn't realise you're so close you interact with my job at a wholesale store! Keep up the godly videos and hope to bump into you
Thankyou Because of your video , I decided to breed RADs , where I live some breeds of Rainbow fish are endangered now . I want to help save them from this.
In the u.s. in Indiana by Lake Michigan we see something that's so similar it's like exactly like this with mnt baldy it's a sand dune & we run down it like that like, this is so cool.
Mate get down to BCF get yourself a battery powered air pump they even sell bait buckets with and air pump it makes the whole thing easer its less stress on the fish ,easy transport, and they have lids rainbows are well known jumpers A good thing to do is use 1 container to empty the fish from the trap in to you don't want any food sitting in the bucket your taking the fish home in and a small clear container is great as well to be able to ID the fish so you don't take home any fish you don't need or can't take Good luck on your next adventure
There is another creek on the other side of the road and have have a 4x4 to go down some sand tracks. Makes it better better because it Pretty hidden, you can't see it from the track, only give away is a really small wooden bridge. And you also came out on the wrong side of the sand dunes 😅
Would you do a exploration/video on the colorful small Desert Pup Fish that lives in remote desert 90°f hot spring water. There are breeders of this fish species!
Did you test the temperature of the water? I always though all rainbow fish need a heated aquarium. What temp do you keep them at. Do you fluctuate the temp for breeding season?
We have an AMAZING God of the universe who created every fish and animal on earth in its amazing diversity! 🙏💗🙏 it’s not very bright to think all of this just magically appeared after a big explosion 🤪. I’ve travelled quite a few places, but that may have been the most amazing beach I’ve ever seen! Gorgeous! Thanks for sharing! Great filming!
In the future, please wear a full bodysuit, big hat, and blur your face when available. Your good looks, fit body, aquarium knowledge, accent, and presentation style show an unattainable set of attributes to the average fish nerd. The fish nerds have a difficult enough time in society and social interactions without seeing displays like this. Please stop being so awesome. 🐠
Great video Nick I really enjoyed that, it brought back the thought of the heat wave though, but aside from the heat it was a great weekend and we have some good memories 🙂
So, I'm an ecologist in America and I think this is the best film ever for "hobbyist" ecology. Great job!

Plenty of amazing Australian fish around. The problem is quite a few get big or are too aggressive 😂
Well, they are AUSTRALIAN FISH, they need to be aggressive to survive just the bugs!
@@michellebarnhill5130 ….and the threat of being captured! I’d be aggressive too.
Dope video. Really cool to see your channel improving/evolving
Love these types of videos, keep up the awesome work my brother!!

Cool vid mate. Love that area. My tank is brown like that water but reads pH 7.6 or above. I was surprised at your reading
Awesome
in queenland, what types of fish traps can you use if you have a license, just wondering.
Are there not crocs in those streams and rivers?
Hey you should come to cambodia to catch the most rarest puffer the Cambodian pufferfish or pao cambodgensis in tonle sap

Do you know some spots in Victoria?? Can you suggest some youtube channel based in victoria???
So no crocs in these locations?
Mosquitos don't seem to be an issue there.
Did you test the temperature of the water? I always though all rainbow fish need a heated aquarium. What temp do you keep them at. Do you fluctuate the temp for breeding season?
PS…. I would love to have a eel tail catfish.
