A nice overview of the early history of the Republic. It is to be noted, however, that Rasalhague later was overrun by the clan invasion. Also, it was a pilot from Rasalhague who caused an interruption in the Clan-onslaught by ramming her fighter into the bridge of the flagship - and in doing so killing the IlKhan, forcing the bloodnamed Clan-warriors to temporarily return to Clan space to elect a new IlKhan, giving the Inner Sphere the chance to prepare its defenses and ultimately end the Clan Invasion. It was this self-sacrifice, that proved a pivotal point in the defense of the Inner Sphere against the Clans. As a bit of trivia: In the game Stellaris one of the randomly generated system names is also Rasalhague - which is a nod to Battletech fans.
It's weird that Rasalhague doesn't have it's own sourcebook, only a chapter of 20 Year Update. Maybe Clan Invasion was planned already and FASA authors didn't want to upset fans of the new faction.
Yes, FASA created them as a disposable faction. Then they saw how popular the FRR was with players - they were the only real democracy in the Inner Sphere *and* they were scrappy underdogs - so they had several FRR worlds protected behind the Tukkayid treaty line before the Clans could destroy the republic entirely.
Ugh, I hated how they wrote the Steiner treatment of the Rasalhague in the books. Before the Clan Invasion, one of our old and favorite campaigns was to be agents, ordered by Steiner to help setup rebel cells in Kuritan Held Rasalhague worlds. Once we read how the "authors/powers that be" made the Steiners treated the Hague, we were like UGH! Stupid Steiner incompetency strikes again!
How dose everyone pronounce stuff from battle tech I have heard so many different pronunciations and they are all different from how many of my friends pronounce him.
Its tough sometimes because they are based off real words / places /ideas but often from non English words and in some cases made up words. i have never found s deficient source for an official battle tech lexicon.

@@brianshively4857 He also clearly wrote "Rasalhague later was overrun..." Key word being "Later". Meaning: After.
