- ON 07/21/2021, I WAS CONDUCTING A FIRST AMENDMENT AUDIT AT THE YORK, MAINE POST OFFICE AT 10 WOODBRIDGE ROAD. I WAS WATCHING THE POSTAL EMPLOYEES LOAD UP FOR THE DAY OUT BACK. I WAS THEN APPROACHED BY A LADY WALKING OUT OF THE POST OFFICE SAY THAT SHE DOESN'T GIVE HER PERMISSION TO RECORD HER.
SHE STARTED TO ASK WHAT ORGANIZATION I'M WITH AND WHERE I'M FROM. I DON'T ANSWER QUESTIONS LIKE THAT. SHE STARTED TO DRIVE AWAY AND STATED THAT PEOPLE DO NOT LIKE WHAT I AM DOING. I TOLD HER TO KEEP DRIVING AND CLOSE THE BLINDS AT HOME.
I WAS THEN APPROACHED FROM ANOTHER LADY STATING THE SAME THING THE PREVIOUS WOMAN SAID. PERMISSION PERMISSION PERMISSION 🙄 SHE ALSO SAID IT WAS ILLEGAL AND THAT ITS FEDERAL LAW 🤔. I ASKED HER WHAT THE LAW WAS AND SHE SAID SHE'S CALLING THE POLICE.
AS YOU'LL HEAR IN THE 911 CALL SHE COMPLETELY FABRICATED THE WHOLE STORY JUST BECAUSE OF HER FEELINGS. THAT IS DANGEROUS IN (THIS DAY AND AGE) LOL. DISPATCH WENT BACK AND FORTH WHEN FINALLY YOU'LL HEAR THEY REACHED OUT TO KITTERY, MAINE POLICE AND DECIDED TO NOT SHOW. KUDOS TO YORK, MAINE POLICE (NUITERED)...
I WAS THEN CONFRONTED BY A MAN IN HIS VEHICLE WHO MADE AN ILLEGAL UTURN TO CONFRONT ME. HE DROVE BY AND SNAPPED A CAMBACK OF ME.. AND DROVE AWAY. THEN THE SUPPOSEDLY LEASED PROPERTY OWNER APPROACHED ME ASKING ME QUESTIONS REGARDING MY PRESENCE ON POSTAL PROPERTY. THE CONVERSATION WENT WELL UNTIL HE DIDN'T LIKE MY ANSWERS.
HE WALKED AWAY TAIL TUCKED AND WENT BACK IN HIS TRUCK. THE LADY WHO CALLED 911 TOOK OFF ALSO. I MADE MY WAY INSIDE AND BOUGHT A STAMP WITH NO FURTHER ISSUES. I TOOK A LOOK AT POSTER 7 WHICH WAS OUT DATED. I ASKED TO SPEAK WITH THE POST MASTER WHO SUPPOSEDLY WAS OUT ON THE ROAD DELIVERING THE MAIL 🤔.
I FINISHED UP MY AUDIT AND WENT ON MY WAY TO THE TOWN HALL TO PULL RECORDS ON THE DEED FOR THE PROPERTY OF THE POST OFFICE. THEY DID NOT HAVE IT AND DIRECTED ME ELSEWHERE. I AM STILL WAITING ON THOSE RECORDS.

Not _quite_ absolutely. Reasonable place, time and manner restrictions can be applied, and upheld, and overturned. It's a bit more fluid and nuanced than absolute.

Even the dispatcher escalated things by relaying that the caller said: "he was being aggressive" nothing of the kind was said, but it would prime any cop coming to expect aggressiveness. That dispatcher needs some re-training for inserting speculation into the call and straying from the facts which could be very dangerous.

The issue is that the woman told the operator that he followed her to her car and a few other things. The cops probably called the post office and found out that he was on the sidewalk. The pictures/movies were not the problem. It was the lies she told.

After viewing a number of your audits, a pattern has seemed to emerge....many of the reactions in these small towns are either nonchalant, nonplussed, or outright hostile, and I think it reflects on the people of those particular populations in question. We have been recently thinking of getting some property around York, but alas, having second thoughts. Aside from the benefits of doing your audits, you're shining a genuine light on the temperaments of these places. 👍
As an european, that's the only reason I watch those audits. It's really interesting on a sociological level.
My verdict: as always, Americans are extreme, either very nice or very angry, with no middle ground.
Where I live, you wouldn't get any reaction at all...

All Press said was she was mistaken, but she tells the cops he is rude, aggressive, and followed her to her car. As usual, Press was professional and courteous to those who deserved it. I called 112 (Which is like the European 911) once. There was a burglary in a closed shop next to where I used to live. Saw them moving things out the window in the middle of the night. Not life threatening in anyway, but I called. Wouldn´t call them for someone recording, though.
