I've finished all nine movies and moved on to post-game, and this game has been fantastic for every minute. The gameplay is changed enough compared to past Lego games while still feeling familiar, the lightsaber combat is fantastic, the open worlds are great, this is a collectathon to end all collectathons with more unique Kyber Bricks in the open worlds than there are unique moons in all of MARIO ODYSSEY (1166 Kyber Bricks total, remove 270 via 6 in each of the 45 individual levels and you have 896 unique open world bricks vs 880 unique moons in Mario Odyssey), you can buy the freaking Death Star, all of it is a Star Wars fan's dream, and a Lego game fan's dream as well. I don't know if it's my personal favorite Lego game, that could easily go to one of the older ones like Complete Saga or Lord of the Rings, but this is certainly one of my favorites, and definitely one of the best ones I've played. I should note, I was locked out of progression in my initial file, I was going to do the level 'The Hunt for Jango' in Episode 2 (I started with the prequels), and I had what I can only assume was a loading glitch, and it kept me on the previous questline with no way to progress to the next quest, which locked me out of completing the rest of the prequels. I don't know how common this is, I don't know if they fixed this in a patch somewhere, but it's something to note. Even then, that didn't ruin my enjoyment for the game because it was so early into my playthrough, I only beat Episode 1 at that point so I just rushed through that in a new file and continued the saga like nothing happened, and it helps that this game is just fun to play. 10:31 One thing you didn't clarify in this review is, this game, in both docked and handheld mode on Switch, runs at 30FPS! No 60FPS here folks. So if you enjoy that crisp smooth framerate of 60FPS, skip the Switch version. Cause for me, 30FPS is a deal-breaker.
There are three properties I could imagine working great as Lego games: The Northern Lights, aka the Golden Compass: since all the characters have daemon spirit animals you can have unique abilites for each animal. Plus the first book/film/series have a ton of locations you could traverse: Jordan college, Gypian boats, Bolvanger, Svalbard and more. A series of Unfortunate Events: If made today, it'd likely be based off the tv series, but either way each Baudelaire child could use their character traits: inventing, reading/research and biting to aid them in a number of things: chores for Olaf, stopping a fake wedding. Then if doing the Netflix version, have whole side missions alongside VFD. The Chronicles of Narnia: I think the series has a good charm that would adapt well to Lego. You could have the hub world be the Professor's country mansion, then enter the different stories through the Wardrobe. Even if you just have the Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe's plotline there's plenty to cover, from exploring the snowy forest, Mr Tummnus' house, Aslan's camp, the White Witch's castle, then all culminating in the epic fight at the end. If Lego can do Lord of the Rings, I'd love them to cover Narnia.
I agree with Narnia. The novels have an excellent source of information and events to draw from. May not be as fleshed out or expansive as Star Wars, Harry Potter, or Lord of the Rings, but it’d be excellent nonetheless.
I feel like some issues can be patched, I've been mostly running into graphical glitches and stuff. Invisible objects and flickering stuff here and there, it's kinda annoying. >.
Does this game have a central location where a lot of your unlocked characters can wander about similar to the og Lego Star Wars Dexter's Diner or the Mos Eisley cantina in Lego Star Wars 2? Or is just the basic level select?
@@Chris45300_ Yeah it is. The cantina and Dexter’s diner are both in the game and explorable though There are instances where characters roam around the world For example sometimes you need to do a mission to unlock a character (let’s just say a stormtrooper as an example) You have to talk to said stormtrooper to do the mission. Once it’s done you unlock the stormtrooper but the character stays there after unlocking it
@@Chris45300_ In my opinion I would give it an 8/10 It is a good lego game but the reason why I give it 8 1.) Same as all the other lego games (nothing really hugely new in my opinion) 2.) As of now has some bugs and even some where you can get softlocked (luckily I never had any softlocked bugs but I have run into some other ones) 3.) Most of the levels are really short and some major scenes in the movies feel rushed or are just a quick cutscene rather than level/focused more on in the story It is still good though as it improved on the previous lego games and the open world is better as there are more places to explore and more puzzles to solve
I’m traveling right now so I got the game on switch. Besides a few performance issues, I’ve been having a lot of fun. I eventually plan to buy the game on pc again so I can crank it up to 4k and max out the graphics. I’m hyped
Alex, I appreciate your comments at the end. Well, I always do, but even more so for this one because I feel the same way. I own many Lego video games, but haven't finished any of them. It's fun at first, and unlocking new characters is fun, but I think there's something about the level design that always bothers me. The levels are very repetitive and, somehow, both too linear and too open, as well as being too long. The Lego games are fun to play for about 30 minutes but after that, I feel like I'm doing chores.
Only gripes I have with it are the load times are sometimes absurd, even with just switching your character. It turns your player into a blue hologram minifig and loads the character which is super annoying

Does the game have any technical issues when you play local coop? I remember some games, like borderlands 3, had horrendous lag issues when split screening on the PS4.
I’m in the middle of playing this really quite incredible game and enjoying it for the most part, but the flaws are so painfully obvious that I tend to get a little frustrated. The “it’s just not there” and “that object doesn’t move the way it’s supposed to” glitches that make me have to restart the game are infinitely annoying. It just seems to have weird little ticks that make it somewhat of a hurdle to overcome to enjoy. Regardless, I haven’t stopped playing it since day 1, and am very excited to run back through and 100% this monster.
I agree! I am playing on the PS5 (have some videos of it on my channel) and I’ve been having issues with the view not switching back to characters after a cinematic, characters not moving for a couple of minutes etc. It is still a lot of fun, but definitely some issues that need patching!
@@charliefen that's my overall experience with Lego games. They are not broken or anything but there are enough little issues that you start to notice it. Def picking this one up if that’s good. I was unsure about whether it’s worth it bc I love the original I have on the Wii and I don’t like the sequels enough (or at all really) to buy a new game solely for those movies but it sounds like they changed enough to make it worth it. Also it makes me very happy they have a mumble mood for cutscenes as that just gives me so much nolstagia for the original in its stupid goofiness.
It’s absolutely worth it. Every single planet you can remember from the saga is explorable in some capacity, and the space combat is genuinely phenomenal. The other thing is that from what I hear, mumble mode is not that good. It just turns the dialog into gibberish but doesn’t give you the visual gags to compensate for the lack of speech. This is probably in the top 3 most disappointing things in the game, though, which is really saying something
I had been second guessing on which console I should get it on (PS4 or switch) and I brought it on switch and don't regret it at all. I love being able to play it on the bus on my way to work because I am very addicted to this game
It certainly looks better on the series S, but I was expecting frame drops and downgraded textures.. which simply didn’t occur. This is more smooth than breath of the wild, and in switch form you can take it with you. Some games are just better handheld and SWS on switch is a perfect example. This game is stupid easy on all consoles. If you’re a decent gamer, you’ll have to put effort into trying to die. None of the challenges will ever make you sweat, and being heavily disadvantaged isn’t enough to make you fear dying. Honestly think this game is too easy.
I couldnt start the revelations level, the final level for empire, the scene where luke takes off from dagobah gets bogged down by lag, then the hyperspace loading on the flight to bespin infinitely loads
Thank you for this, I hesitated to buy this game on my switch because 3rd party-games tend to struggle on the system. This convinced me to the point where I´ll most definetly get it in the near future ^^

I would highly suggest getting this on a next-generation system or at least a PlayStation 4 or Xbox one. There was not enough time put into the switch version. To be honest the switch is gasping for air.. the switch is getting way too old
@@jacobnrskov716 dude the game look awful on switch
@@cloud23games i mean i have, it really doesnt, yeah it doesnt run at 60, but i dont really mind the framerate being at 30, i just hope they fix some framerate issues.
Honestly I don’t expect switch games to run perfect but I love building my switch game collection and I love the system itself. In my eyes I’m getting what I paid for 💜
10:31 One thing you didn't clarify in this review is, this game, in both docked and handheld mode on Switch, runs at 30FPS! No 60FPS here folks. So if you enjoy that crisp smooth framerate of 60FPS, skip the Switch version. Cause for me, 30FPS is a deal-breaker.
There are three properties I could imagine working great as Lego games:
The Northern Lights, aka the Golden Compass: since all the characters have daemon spirit animals you can have unique abilites for each animal.
It looks like a lot of fun! I might just get it.
No. There isn’t any hub/central area in the original games
@@Mahvelous21 ahh that's a shame
@@Chris45300_
Yeah it is. The cantina and Dexter’s diner are both in the game and explorable though
There are instances where characters roam around the world
For example sometimes you need to do a mission to unlock a character (let’s just say a stormtrooper as an example)
You have to talk to said stormtrooper to do the mission. Once it’s done you unlock the stormtrooper but the character stays there after unlocking it
@@Mahvelous21 I appreciate the info, what would you rate the game? I'm thinking about getting it 🤔
@@Chris45300_
In my opinion I would give it an 8/10
It is a good lego game but the reason why I give it 8
1.) Same as all the other lego games (nothing really hugely new in my opinion)
2.) As of now has some bugs and even some where you can get softlocked (luckily I never had any softlocked bugs but I have run into some other ones)
3.) Most of the levels are really short and some major scenes in the movies feel rushed or are just a quick cutscene rather than level/focused more on in the story
It is still good though as it improved on the previous lego games and the open world is better as there are more places to explore and more puzzles to solve
Does this have the exact same content and PS5 and Xbox one?
My exact experience with the Harry Potter Lego games.
Only gripes I have with it are the load times are sometimes absurd, even with just switching your character. It turns your player into a blue hologram minifig and loads the character which is super annoying
any way to mini game parts completed? My son and I are going through the co-op and we started on episode I; the pod racing was fantastic. Is there a mini game section to do it whenever we want? I haven't seen one, just verifying...
In my entire play through to 100% I only encountered one really bad frame rate drop to the point it felt unplayable and that was getting one particular Kyber brick on cloud city
Prequel bashing is so passé, prequels>sequels, not even close.
I had a similar soft lock situation to you, I went into the cutscene where Obi Wan meets Jango Fett and the screen went black apart from the subtitles but i could still hear the audio, wasn’t sure what was happening but when the cutscene finished the screen was still black and all i could hear from the music. Just from the lack of sounds i could tell my controls weren’t working in game so i had to reset and lose all my progress in the level :(
I think they patched it by now.
Happened to me too at that same part
For console i own Jedi fallen order and Squadrons
so I got this on the switch to get a star wars portable game
And it is quite decent, a tad sluggish at times but the fun element is quite significant and the jedi gameplay is quite fantastic
Only complaint is that in handheld the Switch battery drains fast as f...
Fast as what, frogs? So pretty slow?

Flims instead of films
I was tempted to not make this post because I didn't wanna be that guy. But it REALLY stuck out to me and made the vid extra entertaining haha
I think it'd be great if you time stamp the video sections. e.g. Credits, Intro, Review, Overview and your comments.
So you can skip?
@@WoodenFilms Yes
@@Nominal_GDP I'm glad they didn't do that then.
Is the entire game (all trilogies) included in the cart?
Over 100 hours in on ps5 story completed still need 250 kyber bricks, minikits 100 side quests, data cards, 150 characters. Its massive. Thinking of getting it on switch for on the go. Best lego game ever.
I find fighting bad guys really fun, i am pretty new to this but with my brothers help i am starting to really understand the purpose of it!
Lego Star Wars was such a big part of my childhood, so I appreciate the mumble mode. The Christmas special was weird.
Regardless, I haven’t stopped playing it since day 1, and am very excited to run back through and 100% this monster.
do you know if any of these issues have been fixed?
@@richyyyy I haven’t played in a couple weeks, so I’m not sure. I’d have to look into the patch notes.
@@pritt871 i gotcha. i’m thinking about heading up to best buy tomorrow to buy a switch console and a copy of the game
You should know the issues you’ve had are an issue on all consoles so not the switches fault
Had the worst luck with the Harry Potter games, had to replay quite a few sections because strange issues occurred. Was that a problem in this one so far for you?
@@brotbrotsen1100 I had to replay one section due to a glitch, a fairly common one from what I have seen, where I got to the end of a racing section and ended up floating and the ground completely disappeared. But other than that, thankfully I haven’t encountered any other parts like that (played Episodes IV-VI and now on Episode I).
I've been enjoying it on the switch. So far, I havent any complaints.
Can you use a GameCube remote for this game?
Does anyone's game keep crashing on the switch?
how many gb is it on the physical version?
on multiplayer, can you play with one joycon or do you need to play with both?
Says both joycon on the back
Seriously? Your reaction to this was "Oh great more Star Wars" my reaction was "Finally, more good Star Wars" sure the sequels pull this game down a little but after all the crap that Disney has made, and EA only making 3 Star Wars video games since Disney gave them the rights to the IP, with this game being the first non EA Star Wars game, I'm just at least happy it is what it is
I have the switch version and I’m having fun thus far (finished episode 4 and now on episode 1)
Did they not incorporate the lego clone wars fame too? Same timeframe...
I wish they would port The Complete Saga to Nintendo Switch as well. I love The Skywalker Saga, but they’re practically two different games.
This looks absolutely gorgeous and fun! Can't wait to play 😍
So what only episode 1,2 and 3?
Is that a Dune theme knock-off in the background?
Is the Switch version stable? I heard the PS4 version crash a lot?
Is motion controls coming to switch ? 🤔
Deluxe version on sale now for 13.99!🎉🔥🤟🏾💪🏾😎
I'm not a huge star wars fan, but this looks like a lot of fun!
It's the closest you can get to being an unpaid bug tester. In fact, you're paying them to play their unfinished game.
Atleast they didn't take a crap all over fins character like the movies did.
I'll get it for switch first than pc down the road
I know nothing about Star Wars but I love LEGO games. Would this game be too confusing for a non-fan to play or is it something pretty straight forward in terms of storyline? I wanna get it but I'm unsure of that. pls reply
You’re overthinking the issue of if you like it or not, you’re letting your previous bias cloud you
Im just wondering how co op on the Switch is, haven't been able to find any videos on it. Sure hope there aren't frame drops or anything.
It's definitely not as smooth as when playing one person, but it still plays really good
Ofc it has frame-drops :)
All multiplayer games on the Switch get the framrate tanked. Thats old news :)

True but this game is one of the worst in terms of co-op. Lego Harry Potter was actually quite good.
This videos shows the dips quite well

I got my first switch, first handheld in almost 10 years. I needed a game that is fun for when I'm at work in my down time.
is the game fully like the other console versions. huge open worlds, etc. I know in the past games havent been as such for nintendo versions. Ive been debating on what to get this on.
reasons for switch (lite):
-mobile
-my nephews can play it on theirs when I visit
-playing wwe 2k22 right now on ps4. so dont want to be switching out discs.
reasons for ps4:
-trophies (yeah I always go for them)
-better graphics
@8:10 "All 9 of the Star Wars FLIMS!" lol. That had me do a double take and rewind to make sure I heard properly.
I would definitely pass on the Switch version if you plan to play any local co-op. Performance is pretty rough.
Yeah? Dang, already pre ordered switch and was definitely looking to play local co op
I got on the switch and loving it i do believe an update patch is being released
I'm waiting for a switchup 'all patched up' episode to review this at a later date.
15.99 on eshop right now is it worth it
best lego game and one of the bests star wars game!!!
I couldnt start the revelations level, the final level for empire, the scene where luke takes off from dagobah gets bogged down by lag, then the hyperspace loading on the flight to bespin infinitely loads
10:20 the video starts
Anyone else having crash issues when playing co-op? Mine’s crashed twice during the first chapter of phantom menace
It honestly looks awesome! I'm thinking of getting a Switch and the Skywalker Saga along with it, but is it worth it in 2023?
The galatic edition is only 30 bucks on switch so I think imma get it finally
Get it!! The galactic edition is $37 rn USD !! It’s a steal and just get a switch light if anything !
Thank you for this, I hesitated to buy this game on my switch because 3rd party-games tend to struggle on the system. This convinced me to the point where I´ll most definetly get it in the near future ^^
Don’t!!! It struggles badly. It’s crashed on me a dozen times doing very basic things not even overloading it. Wait until they fix it.
I can't decide if it's worth the sale or not 26 instead of like 100 $normally. So idk
That’s great and all, but now we need the kenobi khronicles
I hope the developers will made me work on a online battlefront type mode. That would be epic
I say this in the most senciere way possible:
Buy it on another console if yu can. I bought it one the switch and regretet it the second it loaded up. It is very disappointing in comparison to what you see in trailers and other platforms. I have now bought It on my PS4 and will finish the game on the PS4 as I waited to for long for this game to have my experience diminished by a visual downgrade. The game is amazing and deserves proper visuals. I thought I could handle the reduced grafics. But the game looked a lot worse than what I expected on the switch.
It's really time for a next Gen switch. Newer stuff that isn't exclusive is just not worth it anymore.
this ame on switch is amazing, no lag at all, and easy to play (controls), seriously lego games on switch actually work.

Love everything but the black screens durning various cut scenes and the flying

If Portability is big for you get it for Switch but if you plan on playing on tv mostly get it for Xbox. Superior experience.
@@dutchguy1807 i ended up getting it on my switch so i can play it in bed. i slightly regret it though, because the typical switch 3d port blurriness is present. it’s not too bad though, i guess it’s manageable; you don’t notice it too much once you start playing.
I still might get the Xbox version, but I'm glad to see that the Switch got a quality port of this game.
I understand you, I couldn't play a Lego Star Wars or Harry Potter on PS4 but for the Nintendo Switch it's a compromise I can take.
Lego feels more at home on Switch, I rather play other games on PS4 like RE8, RDR2, Days Gone, Jedi Fällen Order, God of War, Fallout 4 or Ghost of Tsushima, all great games that will probably never come nor run on a Switch.
I would be very happy if the Switch would get Fallout 3 and NV but I guess that's a dream never coming true since Microsoft bought Bethesda. A missed opportunity imo after porting Skyrim
Prequel messes at least they where better and had a story to tell unlike the sequel trilogy
Agreed. Prequels are actually pretty great. Episode 1 has problems but episode 2 is awesome to me and episode 3 is probably my favorite Star Wars Movie.
