If the set for this isn't straight though and your worried about the drop in out put you could create a separate patch . For passive or active that was it's just a small switch
Great suggestion! I don’t think it’s necessary to swap pickups when there’s another solution for the drop off. What you said is a much easier solution as I see it. Curious what Xander will decide to do.
Congrats on the tour opportunity, man, best of luck with it and hope it goes well
Thanks so much!
Xander, I’ve been subscribed for a few years now. I love your channel because of your honest opinion, great guitar playing, and especially because of your consistently positive perspective that you bring to gear, bands, other players, and everything you speak of. I am grateful to have found you and your channel, and I am deeply inspired when you share about how you’re living your dream, and how it’s actually manifested for you now. Thanks for all you offer your followers. Blessings for a great upcoming tour. Jake
Super positive comment. I don't want to come across negativity just putting it out there that he goes by Xander now.
@@RobertJohnson-xr4gy appreciate that thanks! Edited…
Happy Sunday..blessings and much love to you ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Happy for you, man! Good luck with the tour, and looking forward to any content that comes out of it.
Thanks for the vid! So cool to see love for guitars, I resonate with that.
Also - don’t forget to reveal to us the tube amp vs digital answers (which one was which)! 😄 It is such a great test. S C I E N C E!
Dope stuff Xander! Always love that silverburst Les Paul! You should think about putting a humbucker sized P90 in the neck of that Jim Root Strat. It would sound killer for thicc leads and heavy compression clean tappy taps.
The Les Paul in drop c will sound great. I like this tuning for guitars with a short scale length. 🤘
Since you want to use two fiddles with passive pickups, just setup your sound for the passive pickups, then the active pickup will just sound a little better. Problem solved and no money spent!!! I've used both active and passive pickups (EMG and Seymour Duncans) in my rigs since the early 80's and I never change a knob, other than volume up as the night goes on!! :) In a live gig you will probably not notice the difference as much as in you home. I'd try it before spending the money. JMO. Rock on in any case!!! Best of luck.
Thanks to Chevelle i played in Drop C for years. Its a very cool tuning, lots of "deep and powerful" but still articulate. OH YEAH, EMG!!!
Im really enjoying the subjects your videos are.Very Cool.👍Love Drop C...One band i didn't know was Drop C until watching Rick Beato the other day is "A Perfect Circle"
i thought most of them were in C# standard lol, could be wrong doe
@@mrotta6079 Billy Howerdel was on Rick Beato this week.He said their first album was all drop C.
I would think they'd switch it up over the years.
I guess everyone has different opinions, but I reckon those passive pickups sound super clear, I think I prefer em over active personally.
Taking any baritones? Enjoy the tour with such a fantastic band!★
I recently started working with drop C as well; usually in in standard or drop A. I like C a lot and C# even sounds good for more anthemic songs
Some pretty sweet guitars 🤘🏾 looking to get my first Jim Root Sig as my next guitar some day. Got the vip for slipknot a couple years ago and got to play his jazzmaster which was AWESOME!
I have the Jim Root tele and I have his pickup in my Start. They are both amazing. I ended up liking the tele way more than I ever expected!
The JR strat is a workhorse and really dig the used, beat up look its got going on. Enjoy the tour man!
Thanks so much!
Dude, I would love to do the stuff that you do on here. It looks awesome.🙂
For the Les Paul you could try EMG’s RetroActive series? They’re made like passives but have the active preamp on so they may keep up better?
First of all, congratulations for the tour that you are about to start. Related to the Gibson scale string tension, is it possible to compensate it with a change in string gauge?
Thank you in advance. Great content as always. I'm a big fan.
Who is he touring with??
Throw a 57/66 set in the LP Custom. They’re awesome, and sound great in anything I put them in!! 🤘🏼🤘🏼
You just need to boost the passiv pickups so they hit the gear equally as hard as the active pickup. You can mod your existing quad cortex patches with a clean boost up front. Call it the "passive" patch.
Have you thought about making a second patch identical to the one you are using only with the gain structure adjusted for passive pickups, or.. adding a boost in the chain to give you that added ooomf the emg's have? I know that's just one more thing but it seems like it would be easier than swaping pickups. Also for the active feel I like to use a compressor with a level control as a boost instead of an od because you can tailor the compression to feel the same as well as the output level and it's less likely to color your tone.
Have fun on tour man!
Congrats on living the dream as a touring musician!
Thank you!!
The LP sounded the best to me.
What other tunings are you using on the 6 and 7 strings? Love your videos!!!
First (also congrats on moving ray)
You should talk about your QC tones for this band. The sound demos in this video sounded like you built them for stereo?
What string gauges are you going to use on the Les Paul for Drop C?
Yep !! Cool !!
Random thought: What about configuring your rig for passive pickups and run passives in *all* of your guitars this tour? Then you wouldn't have to swap the pickup in the Badlands or the Les Paul.
100% would say EMG in the silver burst. That for me is the dream Les Paul.
How did you learn to play guitar, what was your first guitar?
Whats your take on IBANEZ and JACKSONS....
Drop C is my shit. Got those Jim Roots in my Prophecy Extura (swapped those Fishman moderns out). EMG 81/85 in the LP, and Distortions in the Gibson SG. All three are drop C tuned. Schecter platinum 7 for the Drop A.
Put an emg 85 in the bridge of that badlands guitar!
now im gonna get stricken stuck in my head for 2 days
Have you try a EspLtd MHt bariton Black Metal? 7 strings
What string gauges do you like with the drop C tunings?
Bring the Les Paul! You gotta
EMGs are the goats
Indeed!
What gauge strings do you use on your Les Paul in Drop C?
Is that an Orange Solar back there? Better sell it to me before it fades to pink!
Drop c :D welcome Children of Bodom. I have Alexi Signature in this tuning.
And bout of pickups, I'm polar opposite, I hate actives. However active booster like emg pa2 rocks
Strings gauge on lp? 10-52? 11-54?
Nice place... But where are the pink scissors????
Aren’t you a Cerberus Guitars artist? Why don’t you play those? Or did I miss something
Are you a fan of SD blackouts bro?
I am!
my god that LP sounds so mean in drop C lol. you should throw some will adler fishmans in there and make it guitar # 1
im brand new to this channel. i think youre great but im not seeing anything interesting. like: band performances, stand alone riffing, vlogs, ect. ill sub for now but i think your channel could do alot with more of that. youre very talented and i think your sound is great but you gotta throw some variety into your shit bro.
While it’s awesome your gonna be touring again, selfishly I’m bummed. We got hardly any content from the last tour and now 6 weeks with little content just sucks 🥲
What's it matter? Seems like you're only critical of his content anyways considering your comments on his videos, lol.
@@boggle69420do I? Hmm first comment I’ve put on any video since the amp vs modeller video. Over 2 months ago. 😂 there’s no goldstars for being a kiss ass buddy
@camdaman93 I ain't being a kissass. Just pointing out the facts.
@@boggle69420 and your “facts” were wrong and just disproven sooooo…
