I can use the Power Color's unusual cooling performance and quietness for 5 years, but I'm worried about my 4070s dual fan model. Cheaper models maintain high heat even when the fan spins at high speeds, causing the thermal pad and grease to deteriorate prematurely. Even in this video comparison, 4070s Windforce has a slightly weak heatsink. Gigabyte's top grade 4070s is required to compete with the highest quality Hellhound among the 7800xts.

Some games 4070S wins, others 7800XT wins, but the power efficiency from Nvidia is great, at least 40-50W less, and i think someone did the math and the 4070S would cost "less"...i've been with AMD for over 6 years, but that efficiency is worth it, plus other premium features.
@@Integroabysaldepends on where you are and what you power tariff is. In Europe someone estimated even the idle power usage over a year more than makes up for the cost difference.
I like the vivid colors on the 7800XT much more than the semi-washed out look of the RTX4070. Runs cooler -- longer GPU lifespan. Quieter operation. Essentially equal FPS. VERY easy choice. And if you're super serious about multi-player shooter games then you'll want better than a RTX4070 anyway. If the 4070 was $500 instead of $740 then maybe you could make a case for it. As it is... no brainer.
Its very clear to see the higher visual fidelity in the Nvidia products compared to AMD products, Ie Nvidia images are crisp and have more color depth. Amd was caught clipping pixels and image fidelity over 20 years ago (in leu of the average gamers/investor unable to notice the difference) and its very clear they are still up to their old games to pad the higher frames per seconds. also take note that some of the higher end graphics engines, the AMD cpu (albeit older model) chip is like 10% higher and still unable to fill the NVidia product all the way to the top. Wonder what is happening for the AMD Chip to work so hard and not be able to fill that Nvidia GPU to 100%. I decided on a 4070ti super, powered by a 14700kf, 6400Mhz ram with all three components running default speeds. pared to a LG C3 48" set to 4096x2160 with a color depth set to 12bits per channel for a pallet of almost 69 billion colors. The set up runs hi end Graphics engine games between 70-80's FPS in TAA/ full native mode Ray Tracing reflections on, and the Fidelty/ image quality is freaking crazy. I decided on the GPU 6 months ago being so close to the newer 5090/ Black well chip. It will be interesting to see if the rumors are true/ being that AMD is dropping their hi end GPU lines and targeting the low to mid-tier gamers as it is said they still cannot produce a product that is even close to the performance of the RTX 4090. I guess we will see next year. No one today is doing reviews like they use to 20-30 years ago, Ie if you have to use a magnifying glass to show the average person the difference between the GPU images, the average person will never ever see the difference unless they can see it for themselves. Ie its like the intel and AMD war, the higher end cpu crushes the higher end tasks kinda the same as hi end gpu's crush Ai apps/ video editing. Ie if you only use your rig to play games buy AMD products, but if you are into the Hi end of editing 4k-8k video/ tomorrows AI applications most will tell you to only use Intel with Nvidia GPU's. Don't forget AMD two weeks ago, told the world that their micro code in their CPU's/chips has compromised security issues since 2001.

For the price/performance ratio 7800XT it is a wiser choice when you are building a PC from zero, so you can use that extra 100 or 200USD in other components, more RAM, maybe a better CPU or more SSD, both cards are great GPUs but just one of them gives you the opportunity to optime the money
I would gladly upgrade 3070 to a 7800XT and just forget about RT entirely. The only viable alternative is 4070 ti Super because of VRAM....anything less than 16gb is bad news, unless its a crazy bargain, like half price type thing. I wouldn't even want a 3080ti or 3090ti because they suck compared to a 4070ti, and they cost SO MUCH.
Question: why is the 7800 always pulling more power at the same time as always having half the fan speed? Vram looks the same, core clock looks the same, temps are similar or alternate depending on the game, same usage bla bla... So what is it?
Are you questioning the consumption that the card was designed to pull? Thats like questioning why a gas engine only takes in gas instead of diesel. Anyways, the rx 7800 xt has higher tdp compared to the 4070s so the 7800 xt will obviously have higher power consumption. As to the fan speed it depends on the thermal design and every gpu model will have different thermal design. Powercolor hellhound has great thermal designs capable of cooling cards at low fan rpms.
The Compare Card to the RX 7800XT is the normal 4070, the 4070s is the Card to Compare to the 7900GRE. So at all the RX 7800XT is a beast Card for the Price here in Europa with a Ryzen 5 7500f - 7600/X Version and with a Ryzen 7 7700/X.
The passmark show 4070super scores 30000 and it is close to 7900xtx. 7800xt is around 24000. Why their performance is close, while sometimes 7800xt even has higher frame rate?
Because AMD is stronger in rasterization. Here the 4070 super is beating sometimes the card in rasterization, without using his strong points (RT+DLSS). Put RT on, see the big difference. And DLSS gives you a huge boost in performance. That's the strong point of Nvidea, these features.
No point doing a comparison at that point. Obviously Nvidia RT cores are better and they outshine everything in Ray Tracing tests. Raw performance is better to establish a baseline of what you getting for your money. If you care about Ray Tracing just automatically default to an Nvidia Card. If you don’t you have 3 options. Intel, AMD, and Nvidia.
I see a 50 w consumption difference in the RX , should i take it into account? because ok ill save 100 E but i dont want to pay it back on the long run.
@@JegsTV I see. So consumption is not a problem but I still can't decide. Too much information from both sides makes it harder. In general I see they are almost close if not the same. Is it just me or is the 4070 super card at 1440P resolution in the game: Horizon Forbidden West has terrible stutter and also loses to the 7800XT, this just proves that in 2024 you need at least 16 GB of VRAM.
Forbidden West was made to be extra optmized for AMD cards, and the Reflex is causing the stuttering because it's broken Now, look at the atrocious AMD's frametimes from Alan Wake 2 at 13:11. It's an stuttery mess. The 4070S is using less VRAM but is much more stable and smooth. To me this proves that the "muh not enough VRAM" fearmongering is total bullshit. It's all down if the game is optimized or not.
Has nothing to do with vram as it wasn’t even close to maxing out vram at 1440p. I assume the stuttering is from recording to a capture card at 60hz so it’s not smooth. When reviewing these benchmarks it’s best judge smoothness off the fps counts than what you see in the video.

12gb vram is not bad at all
Why PPL think having 12gb vram is bad ....
What happend to your asrock motherboard?
Which app are you using for framrate calculation?

Because AMD is stronger in rasterization. Here the 4070 super is beating sometimes the card in rasterization, without using his strong points (RT+DLSS). Put RT on, see the big difference.
And DLSS gives you a huge boost in performance.
That's the strong point of Nvidea, these features.

you will recoup that 100E in about 2 years of usage assuming you use your PC for about 8hrs everyday.
@@JegsTV I see. So consumption is not a problem but I still can't decide. Too much information from both sides makes it harder.
In general I see they are almost close if not the same. Some people say amd because vram , fps per dollar etc. Others say Nvidia because dlss and Fg.
So Nvidias tech is good only for poorly optimized games or is it worth it anyway?
Is it just me or is the 4070 super card at 1440P resolution in the game: Horizon Forbidden West has terrible stutter and also loses to the 7800XT,
this just proves that in 2024 you need at least 16 GB of VRAM.
Frametime inconsistencies are caused by Reflex. It is broken right now in this game. With disabled Reflex the game runs smoothly even at 4K.
Forbidden West was made to be extra optmized for AMD cards, and the Reflex is causing the stuttering because it's broken
Now, look at the atrocious AMD's frametimes from Alan Wake 2 at 13:11.
