I feel like it’s important to realise that us United fans aren’t comparing him to Haaland or anyone else. Only rivals and neutrals are doing that, and it’s understandable why. After Haaland came in and performed so well, any forward would naturally be compared to him, also the surname plays a part. However, we’re not too sure what we’re getting with Højlund. He doesn’t have to be the most prolific striker but if he can at least start bagging goals and stop us being so wasteful and actually finish the numerous chances we create then he’s done a job well done. Forget what other teams say.
Love that the pictures of Hørsholm make it look like a farming village hahah. It´s actually a suburb to Copenhagen only 30 minutes by car and very expensive.
Utd fan here so I want him to succeed but I can't say that piece filled me with optimism. A lot of praise from teams with an interest in selling him some goals against mediocre opponents and some criticism of it going to his head. I hope he comes with the passion and work ethic mentioned and then maybe we've got a player. As for the price, well Utd always over pay so no surprise there but then that's what a striker costs these days I guess. Haaland's buyout clause was lower but I'm sure with all the additional fees it shakes out the same in the end and just look at the price of Caicedo. Fingers crossed for you Hoijlund anyway, show us what you've got.
With the additional fees and extraordinarily high wages to make up for the low release clause, Haaland is much more expensive than Hojlund and it doesn't 'shake out the same in the end'. Though of course it all has been worth it for City regarding Haaland. Infact with wages and other costs factored in, Hojlund is actually much cheaper in the long term compared to what a deal for Kane or Osimhen would cost for example. I think even TIFO did a video about the finances. Hope Hojlund delivers on the hype but I do feel sorry for such incredible pressure on a very very young player.
@MayankJha Totally agree and I watched that TIFO piece about the fees too. Good explanation from them as always. TBH I only said its probably the same because I don't know the exact details but it wouldn't surprise me if it was more given Haaland's hype and opportunity. @@RedDevilRundown 100% agree. It's borderline impossible to find a bargain when everyone doubles their price as soon as we walk in the door. 'Man Utd tax' is a real thing.
@@RedDevilRundown Nah mate, nobody is stopping you from doing any of that, you can look at Arsenal's transfers of William Saliba and Odegaard, Tottenham's of Son, City and Sane, even to an extent the earlier transfers of Rooney and Ferdinand and others, you always have to pay more for young talent but that's not to say you can't strike a good deal. Paying 70mil for a striker who didn't even hit double figures in Serie A is comical, even more comical considering Arsenal are looking to offload Balogun for about that amount.
Ten Hag actually wanted Kane and Hojland. With Hojland slowly implemented into the squad. Unfortunately that didn't happen, so the fans will have to be patient.
He certainly did not score 16 goals for Copenhangens senior team. Maybe a handfull, but definitely not 16. That must include goals for the youth team, which is quite a different story.
According to transfermarkt he didn't score at all in the Superligaen. The table shows 19 appearances (459 minutes in total), but zero goals and zero assists. In the U19 Drenge Ligaen, where the youth team competes, they've got 15 goals and 3 assists in 27 appearances (2166 minutes). Then we have the Oddset Pokalen, which I believe to be the cup competition in Denmark, with 2 appearances (100 minutes) and again no goals or assists. And finally the Future Cup, which appears to me to be a competition for even younger players than U19 (2 goals and 1 assist in 2 matches). On top of that we have 5 appearances including 2 goals in the UEFA Conference League. This is all I could find from his time in Denmark. All other entries refer either to his time in Austria, or in Italy. I have no idea how to combine these numbers and arrive at 16 goals... Same goes for the number of appearances stated in the video (23).
@@lonestarr1490 His correct senior stats in FC København are 792min/32matches/5goals ( 99min/2matches in Pokalturneringen, 461min/19 matches in Superligaen and 232min/11 matches/ 5goals in UEFA Europa Conference League) from his debut 25/10/2020 AGF-FC København to last game 09/12/2021 FC København-SK Slovan Bratislava (UEFA Europa Conference League)
As a Copenhagen fan let me put some context to his time there, nobody had any doubt about his talent and most fans were disappointed to see him leave. But it is quite normal for FC Copenhagen that the youth players who get promoted to the first team, spend the first year or two as a rotation player to build up their confidence and skills. Nobody is secured a spot in the starting 11, unless they have proven themselves worthy through training and the game time you get here and there.
The issue I think is the sale of Jonas Wind to Wolfsburg on the last day on the window as I remember. They wouldn't have sold him if they knew that a kinda "too good to be true" late bid on Wind would come (as of the sporting director in a fan podcast). I'm just glad he's proving everyone wrong, he'll always be an FC dreng, but you could definitely justify a sale as of how he unfortunately just didn't score goals when given chances and new striker talent like Orri Oskarsson on its way from the academy. Football is a fun but brutal game
Atalanta spent 20 million euros..thats alot for a team like atalanta...This boy has a unique profile and is multidimensional...he will surprise many in his first season.
They knew they could make a huge profit off him, baiting some gullible English club. That's also why he was consistently played, although he was far from convincing at the start. Gasperini's enthusiastic words were part of the strategy.

He can only prove to be a bargain in the next couple of years, otherwise he'll be simpy a player developed by United, but certainly not worth the money he was paid.
The whole thing about him not playing a full 90 minutes in Denmark isn't too concerning. Since he was only a teenager then, it was just about giving him the minutes to develop some experience and playing time. He wasn't physically ready to play a full 90 as it were.

£70+ for that kind of player is mental. ManU making the Chelsea mistake of buying young talent WAY overpriced. He’s good no doubt, but iirc, people weren’t sure if someone like Haaland wouldn’t have to pay a massive farmers league tax after shooting the Bundesliga into oblivion for a season and a half. Here you have a player that has spent a few months in a top league and surely left a mark but nothing justifying $70 mil just yet. Feels very similar to Mudryk honestly. ManU for 12th this season then?
His stats are similar too. Bendtner was coming off the bench and scoring some important goals at 20. I always felt he could've been a good player if he had a better mentality.
As a United fan im not expecting Hojlund to succeed at united this or the next season but he will be a huge player later i think his physicality will help him a lot in the premier league but i would prefer to have another striker in front of him... Ohh, he costed 64m actually but anyway tifo lately is going downhill
Sancho isn't the problem, United is. Notice that when Ronaldo moves anywhere the entire dynamic of the team changes to accommodate him. PSG didn't accommodate Messi so he struggled. These are some of the best of the best. United needed to have looked at Sancho's situation in the BVB team and asked themselves if they were able to fit that into their tactics to enable Sancho, they didn't - cue struggles. Too many managers are more interested in what they want to play over what the players are suited to and how they can fit together. It's not even that hard to do tbh, you just need to care about something other that your opinions and feelings.
@@les_crow this is true to an extent. But the premier league is different to other leagues, because every team is so good. This makes the tiny details very important. So each player has to perform within a system. This is what people mean when they say a team performs in "moments", it's where a system is not fully implemented and individual talent shines. You will get away with this in a lesser league but found out in the prem. It's why players take time to settle, they need to learn team movements (where and where not to be during a game).
Check some footage of the period when both Sancho and Haaland were playing together at Borussia Dortmund. 65 goals and 35 assists between them in 2 seasons of the Bundesliga, 10 assists from Sancho to Haaland. Sancho is totally worth that money in my opinion, it's Ten Hag's fault that he doesn't know how to utilize him.
As good as he may be, I don’t think he should be expected to start for United. It’s too early for him and he could use a full season off the bench to adjust to the Prem, when his chances come, he’s gotta make food of it and not play around
Am reading comments n ppl on here are speaking as if Højlund is gonna be an instant starter or or is gonna have the responsibility of being Utd’s main scorer. That’s not even close to being the case. Højlund is brought in for his potential n he is slowly gonna be integrated into the team. He won’t start every game like a Harry Kane or Osimhen would
as a Juventus fan, and somebody who has seen Hoejlund play many times in serie A...this is way too much to pay. He was linked with Juve as a potential Vlahovic replacement...and most Juve fans were sceptical...especially when it was reported that he would cost 40-50m euros...well if I was hesitant at 40m euros...73m pounds is insanity. He's decent, a good prospect...he's not the next Haaland though, and I fear Man Utd have been had.
Well this is a huge gamble, huge potential or not, it all comes down to how consistent he can be. Time will tell, would be nice if he would be somewhat a rival to haaland in the prem
I am concerned about this move given he is injured to start his career. If we go on a run of bad form before he starts the pressure on him will be huge.
The lad looks like a good prospect, but imagine Man Utd had paid £73m for a 20 year old English striker? There would be outrage at the price! "English tax" and other myths would be thrown about.
Part of me's waiting for it to come out that United only signed him because one of the Glazers thought he was Haaland (or am I just conflating United with Chelsea?)
It’s an ill advised “meme” move. Already United got ETH who’s seen as a “poor man’s” Pep. Now RH is just going to be seen as the poor man’s Haaland. Unless he can outsmash EH in the Prem, he’ll always be in the shadow of a meme move. RH had the hype and I’m sure the talent and drive. He should have stayed or at least gone anywhere other than United when taking into consideration having space for his own career development. This is without even considering that ETH could be sacked even before he makes his debut. Too much of a rushed move IMO. Olise in contrast made a good call not to rush things. To back himself to develop and that good opportunities will come.
Honestly I hate to put my hopes on a 20 year old kid. He may be great but we needed a more senior playeer at united to shield him from the burden of being the only striker that is if Martial keeps getting injured.
Dane speaking: It's worth noting who coached FC Copenhagen during his time there: Jess Thorup, a very conservative trainer playing boring football. If he was coached under the likes of Neestrup, the new coach, it might have been a very different FC Copenhagen story. Maybe they would not have needed to bring in Cornelius then, who arrived after Højlunds departure.
Hmm. There seems to be some warning signs with Rasmus. He needs to be instilled with proper discipline and attitude so that he can fulfill his world class potential without derailing from the said "infinite growth ladder". Utd can be a distracting club at times. But I believe in ETH.
Not an United fan. But i can't believe the toxicity in the comment section, amongst United fans and haters, some of whom are in consensus that he will fail. He is a nice player and seems to be a fine guy. People need to get to toxic about clubs and remember these players are people. It's like a job for them.
Totally agree with you on the pressure too. First shot off target from him and questions will be asked unfortunately. Wish him the best
Yeah I think haland gets 850k /wk -= 44m per year, so saying he cost less in transfer fee is a bit misleading
@@007feckhe’s on the same wage as KDB, City have been open about this. 800k a week you’re having a laugh 🤣🤣🤣. He’s on less than 400k a week, same as KDB
@@dogdog2635Still, say Haaland’s wages are 370k p/w and Hojlund’s is 70k. That’s 300k p/w more City are paying, which amounts to 15.6m more per year and 78m more for the duration of a 5 year contract - similar to paying for a second Hojlund.
I never thought my hometown club Sturm Graz will be in a Tifo video :D.
Hojlund was so great for us, but I cannot help but think that the ManUtd move came too soon and cost too much money. He wasn't even a starter for Atalanta. Give the guy some time to develop.
You've got one of the best names in world football - were bound to make an appearance eventually!
I think he's worth the money for Man Utd. He's probably the most promising center forward.
Greetings from a Rapid fan who envies Sturm for the excellent scouting!

@@Pikachu0071000CS He was ok, I saw him mess up, but we also won the cup in penalty shootout with him. I think Sturm wanted to extend his loan but it didn't work out, so they loaned out someone else instead.

You may have been the hero we needed but not the hero we deserved
I fear for this kid, fans are gonna have unrealistic expectations of him and i dont think they realize he is very RAW. This kid is a project. He is not the solution to United's problems, he isnt the fix.
Seems to be a good player but United keeps doing the same mistakes over and over. They spend a ridiculous amount of money for players that might not succeed in the Premier League and be sold for way less. Mourinho said it best when he was the United coach
tbf to United they have also tried to buy the finished article (pogba, lukaku, di maria, sanchez, falco etc) but that failed. People talk about clubs like Brighton having great recruitment, but if United went for the same player Brighton did, it would instantly drive the price from say 2 million to 30 million. Price is determined by the size of the club bidding.

@@notKevinFeige United are the 2nd most successful club in England in the past 12 months. You saying that's not good?
It was atually 64m. I've come to expect the 'including add ons for Utd's transfer fees' agenda from the likes of Sky, but I expected better from Tifo
It's sad to see Tifo going downhill with there agendas
With the prevalence of add-on clauses it has become the standard to denote the highest possible price
Deluded United fans always playing victims when your club throws money around
Hojlunds father is the hero in this story
Atalanta spent 20 million euros..thats alot for a team like atalanta...This boy has a unique profile and is multidimensional...he will surprise many in his first season.
They knew they could make a huge profit off him, baiting some gullible English club. That's also why he was consistently played, although he was far from convincing at the start. Gasperini's enthusiastic words were part of the strategy.
We got Ruud van Nistelrooy regen, you hear it here first
Turning off the comments on the Mason Greenwood video is a really scummy move.
I'm still trying to understand why they went for Hojlund over someone like Jonathan David or Randall Kolo-Muani
I would've gone for Kolo Muani and Thuram, because Rashford is much worse as a 9
If only any of them played in the Eredivise 😢

As a Sturm Graz fan, something which I really put close to Utd fans hearts, don't think of him as Haaland type player. Once he will play for you, you will see he is completly diffrent to Haaland, he's talentee in different areas. Also give him time to settle in. Atalanta to Utd is a pretty big jump

He can only prove to be a bargain in the next couple of years, otherwise he'll be simpy a player developed by United, but certainly not worth the money he was paid.
Atalanta in themselves are reaching new heights like Hojlund with their scouting and team building.
The whole thing about him not playing a full 90 minutes in Denmark isn't too concerning. Since he was only a teenager then, it was just about giving him the minutes to develop some experience and playing time. He wasn't physically ready to play a full 90 as it were.
He is 20 has back pain, and now all of the manager and clubs hopes are on his shoulders. A big ask. Very big.

His playstyle kinda reminded me of young Niklas Bendtner
The GOAT 🐐 Lord Bendtner
His stats are similar too. Bendtner was coming off the bench and scoring some important goals at 20. I always felt he could've been a good player if he had a better mentality.
As a United fan im not expecting Hojlund to succeed at united this or the next season but he will be a huge player later i think his physicality will help him a lot in the premier league but i would prefer to have another striker in front of him...
Ohh, he costed 64m actually but anyway tifo lately is going downhill
maybe you mistook Euro for Pound-Sterling. 73m EUR is basically 64m GBP according to today's rate
I saw the pricetag and thought it was our other £73m forward, Sancho. It feels like a PTSD Flashback. We were so excited for Sancho man. 😭
@@les_crowclueless

Check some footage of the period when both Sancho and Haaland were playing together at Borussia Dortmund. 65 goals and 35 assists between them in 2 seasons of the Bundesliga, 10 assists from Sancho to Haaland. Sancho is totally worth that money in my opinion, it's Ten Hag's fault that he doesn't know how to utilize him.
He'll be as much of a success as the players named Antony in Manchester United.
😂😂
Lol, Anthony was way more exepensive. I'd have way more faith Hojlund than Anthony.
He won’t start every game like a Harry Kane or Osimhen would
Which is stupid cause that’s what United need. Rashford can’t play as a striker and Martial is never fit.
We donno he is just a training ground forward he doesn't play matches nor is seen on the bench
kobenhavn have created and molded some great talent
as a Juventus fan, and somebody who has seen Hoejlund play many times in serie A...this is way too much to pay. He was linked with Juve as a potential Vlahovic replacement...and most Juve fans were sceptical...especially when it was reported that he would cost 40-50m euros...well if I was hesitant at 40m euros...73m pounds is insanity. He's decent, a good prospect...he's not the next Haaland though, and I fear Man Utd have been had.
it was £60m its only gonna be 73 with the add ons why do people keep putting on the full potential fee
Why are add ons only added on to quote the prices of Manchester United players???
It’s actually £64m + add-ons but I understand you guys only quote the full price when it’s United
I wonder how much the rise of a Norwegian forward who plays for the city rivals has influenced this ascent

The next Paul Poopbag ??
Quick one. You’ve put the price up to clearly pull in more traffic. He didn’t cost £73 million he cost £64 million pounds. Fix up

They haven't payed 73m at all. That's with all the add ons, if he archives them that means united will have been successful.
Other guy's voice were making me sleepy. This is a good change of pace for me.
Honestly I hate to put my hopes on a 20 year old kid. He may be great but we needed a more senior playeer at united to shield him from the burden of being the only striker that is if Martial keeps getting injured.
Highly priced for a 20 year old striker from Atalanta... after Mason Mount, this was probably the worst piece of business Man United did this year
Dane speaking: It's worth noting who coached FC Copenhagen during his time there: Jess Thorup, a very conservative trainer playing boring football.
