I didn't know this was a TV adaptation of an an Old Time Radio Show. It was on Suspense (1942). On that broadcast, the story had a different twist at the end. I absolutely LOVE Old Time Radio. The Theater of The Imagination! Thank you SO MUCH for bringing this to my attention! 😅😁👍
@@R.Oates7902 He did touch the body, but that was in the first part of the episode that isn't included here. But they were careful to have Smollett's hairs planted on the victim.
I'm listening to the radio version of this on Spotify, and in the ending there Smollet goes directly to the police and ends up framing the son for the murder, and the father goes along with it. I was curious to see if this had a different ending, and it sure did. 😅
Sir Cedric Hardwick ! my goodness - so many actors and actresses i remember in these tv shows. we’d see them over and over. 🌷🙃
The father is absolutely batshit crazy. One of my favorites. Cheers!
And a real "scolder"! 🤣
@@Lisa1111 That's for sure!
Ridiculous. So many people know the truth. There’s no way they are all going to keep quiet. Especially the crazy girl
so glad you included Hitch’s comment at the end. i always loved those :}
Television Code of Ethics 🤔
I think you can find this exact story on a old radio show. It was one of the “Suspense” shows. Terrific!

As per usual, Hardwicke never disappoints. Check him out on the Twilight Zone ("Uncle Simon") Brits always make the best villians, somehow 😏
He was also in another Hitchcock episode the season after this one. As the reclusive old neighbor of a young girl who thinks he's a retired judge.
Great episode! Hilarious characters! Lol
The father seems a bit disappointed in his children, doesn't he?
Hilarious!
One of my favorites!
Today is a wet Saturday.. How appropriate.
I thought wet Saturday referred to a bloody, messy murder committed on a Saturday! This is Hitchcock!
I wonder why, he did not have his son put the body, in the whole? Oh yes, to set up Smollet! Situations are never what they seem! 😶🙄smh
@Cecilie Noble
DNA evidence. That's why the son didn't touch the victim's body, I assume.

Cedric Hardwicke was astounding ... watch 'Uncle Simon' (The Twilight Zone.)
Why only partial episodes
Why is this wonderful episode divided here into two episodes, not presented serially?
Good Advent, Merry Christmas, 🕯🐾🐾😻🎄🎄🎄
short episodes du to copyright issues
"Noone would ever look there"
They would look there first a huge hole in the floor naturally of course if the smell of a corpse was about.
"I don't want to compete for your attention with a sandwich. " 🤣🤣🤣
favorite episode!

This father is good at gathering forensic.
It was a short one
Uncle Simon doesn't play games.
🤔 Smollet.... why is that name familiar? 😬
He must be related to the French movie star Juicy Smollet.
Jesse Smollet
@@jeremiahsams2848 But of course... how silly of me 🤓
Quite senseless - half of it is missing.
I enjoyed all Hitckock episodes except this one. The plot is boring and stupid.
Goodbye then.
compared to what? your assessment of it is boring and stupid for sure...
