- This is my in-depth review of the Ecells Super Monarch 1500 Watt AWD bike. It includes real world battery tests and carefully outlines the range and speed of the bike under various conditions. In one word this bike is "AWESOME" and everybody that sees it remarks how great it looks as well.
Great test ride footage, especially off road. I can totally see why you say this is the best in-depth review! You really show this bike in action and what its capable of.

I just put a $2,000. down payment on a matte black Super Monarch E-cells bike. I'll use it here in Henderson, NV (Las Vegas valley) but also for hunting, which is the main reason I bought it. I saw my buddy's E-cells Monarch and that sold me. Later I discovered Dave, in nearby Parumph, NV was the designer and company owner which made it even better because he was "almost local".
Thanks for the positive response to the video. I have almost 5,000 miles on my Super Monarch and I am using it for local commutes to save money on gas . . . almost like an EV. Hope you get the bike soon and let me know how it goes.
@@jimpark8950 UPDATE: I recently got my Super Monarch Crown, had TANNUS foam tire liners installed and now hit my local Henderson, NV trails.
WOW! This bike is VERY capable and I know it will be great for hunting and carrying over 100 pounds of boned-out big game meat. I'm still amazed at the very good quality of the components and that there are SO many features compared to say a RAMBO 2 wheel drive e-mtb. How Dave does it for the price is amazing.

Thats a nice review and summary. I too have the 1500 monarch. I've had it about 13 mos. 390 miles (long winters here in Montana). It's been a good bike (with issues) but the customer service at ecells in absolutely on point! I've had one complete battery failure which was quickly swapped out by ecells without issue, and we've been chasing an ongoing issue when under peddle assist the power periodically drops to 58 watts. Torque sensor replaced and controller replaced and still no resolution on the problem. Thankfully, ecells is actively involved in the trouble shooting because my local bike shop wants nothing to do with it since they didn't sell the bike (strange that that's the sword they want to fall on). I'd absolutely recommend the bike to anyone so long as ecells stands by their product and maintains excellent customer service. If they can't do that then I would not recommend it at all.
E-Cells does have fantastic customer service. I have over 4,000 miles on my bike and the watts issue can be a little quirky at times but usually is only a minor blip and it picks right up. Hope you get it resolved.

Yes thanks for the comment . . . In my opinion, the all wheel drive of the Super Monarch really sets it apart from other bikes or lightweight motorcycles. I just clocked myself against elite mountain bikers in my area on Strava and despite the weight of the bike, it was able to perform in the top tier. Hope it helps.
they arent even in the same class of bike... you want a comparison of apples and oranges. you might as well throw in a horse drawn carriage into the mix.

Fantastic review, thank you so much for taking the time to provide this comprehensive video. This bike looks amazing, I own an Aventon Aventure with only one 750 w rear hub motor and I can only imagine the power of two motors. Just one 750 w motor is very powerful. I noticed it was your first video and I really encourage you to do follow up videos on this bike and your travels. I think everyone appreciates the routes you mentioned with the significant distance you covered. I would love to see a solar charger available for the bike since you could do a long distance bike camping trip or attempt sections of a BDR or the a piece of the continental divide trail. Again great video. Can you imagine what this company can do as it upgrades this bike model? (solar charging, recharge braking, onboard GPS, belt drive, Tanus Armour Tires, carbon frame...)
Yes thanks for the kind words regarding my review . . . I might make another follow-up. I have about 5,000 miles on the bike now and want to make the big point that instead of buying an electric car to buzz around town for 60K buy a much more affordable E-bike for 5K that is about as fast going around town and quite capable of carrying loads.

Thanks for this review, Jim. It was very informative and quite helpful. I'm currently deciding between the Super Monarch 1500 and the Delfast Top 3. While the Delfast is a single motor bike, that single motor is rated at 3000 watts. This seems to make the Delfast superior in terms of range and speed. However, it retails at $7000 once you include shipping. There also seem to be some quality control and service issues that the company is working through. (For anyone reading this comment, the Delfast staff that I've spoken with thus far has been very helpful - so maybe they're improving?) Jim, have you come across any Delfast bikes in your journeys? If so, I'd love to hear your thoughts on them.
Yes I looked at the Delfast 3 and its weight and speed are much closer to a motocross cycle than a pedal assisted powered bike. If you want to go 50 mph top speed instead of 35, go for it. The Delfast is really only throttle controlled since it only has a single speed in back. Quality control and attention to detail and service are Mercedes Benz, Lexus level on the Monarch . . . hope that helps.
@@jimpark8950, this too was very helpful - thanks. That's a very good point about the single speed vs the ten speed. I'm actually leaning toward the Monarch at the moment for a variety of reasons. Something like the Delfast might be fun in the future, but I think that the Monarch would check many different boxes at the moment - one of the most immediate one's being cost.
How does this handle steep terrain going up? Im considering buying one of these bikes to get out to an island cabin of mine. There are a couple hills on a logging road that is the only access. Biggest hill is probably 100 yards long with approx 35-45 degree angle. Do you think this bike could make it up the hill? Im also considering getting a mono wheel trailer for packing food and such, do you think this bike could do hills with a trailer modestly packed?
Erik . . . well there is no doubt that with the all wheel drive that the Monarch is the capable bike to climb tough terrain. Personally I only think the bike is limited to the courage and skill level of the rider because you can get into some fairly tough situations that the bike can handle but the rider needs experience. I think the 35-45 degree angle is probably an overestimation unless you have actually measured the gradient. I believe gradient is measured by how many feet it goes up every 100 feet. Since you the length of the road is 300 feet that means the road must be going up between 35 to 45 feet every 100 feet . . . extremely steep. I have found on too steep and rough terrain I merely got off the bike and feathered the throttle to help me make it over the hill . . . The bike has TONS of torque and should have no problem . . . I think it is rated to carry 400 pounds beyond the weight of the rider . . . hope this helps.
I wonder if you’d loaned your bike to a motocross rider if they would have had a different opinion of how it handled in technical riding? Still - excellent review - thank you for making it and sharing your observations and experience!
Yes my friend is a cross country bike rider and it is very heard to overcome the heavy weight of the bike. Technical riding is difficult. Let me just say that according to my Strava report, I can go as fast as any quick bike on a fire road . . . no matter what the conditions. Single track and Downhill I would definitely stay away from. But on the Fire Roads . . . you are king.

Jim, great overview. You went through your email address so fast I couldn't catch it is there a chance that you can update your description of the video and add it there so people can get to you. What are the questions I have is is there any switches on the bike to allow you to switch between the motors?
Yes my email address is jimpark@mac.com. And yes there is a very handy switch under the left grip area where you can only have front, back or both motors. The all wheel drive component and feeling of this bike I believe really sets it apart. It seems to lift you up the hills instead of pushing and pulling . . . a very unique and fulfilling experience.

Yes I am 6 foot and the 19" is plenty big for me.
AWSOME video jim. im 52 6 2 230-240 im GOOD shape/but have severe neuropathy in feet . plus carry about 20-30lbs of work tools. and i hoping to set to only pas 5 and program each pas. but i have a beast now but not AWD. i usually ride pas 5 gear 7 pedal cadence pretty high . but alot of stopped and go. so what would you think i would avg per charge ? thx again jim you can tell you were a professor, i know quite a few of them since i work at harvard/mit constructing there properties for 25+ years.
Ok great to hear from you. I would say under most circumstances you can go at least 40 up to 60 miles on a single charge providing there are not too many hills or you average about 22 miles per hour. Your weight and tools are not going to make that much difference once you get up to speed in my opinion. Let me know how it goes.
@@jimpark8950 if i get ,with my weight 40 miles per charge ill be pumped. your in great shape remind me of my DAD hes 72. and hikes ever weekend with 40+ group. up to 30 miles a day. im ordering one tommorow. do you know if can intergrate rear brake/turn signals ? cause 90% of my use is going to work 10% is backwoods hunting/fishing/exploring new places. @@mad151maxx4 Yes you can get an aftermarket turn signals to put on the bike. I would also recommend two new mirrors if you are going to deal with traffic. Mirrycle MTB Bar End Mountain Bicycle Mirror , Black from Amazon . . . best of blessings and I know you will love the ride.
@@jimpark8950 sir you a great my man. i tried calling today but doing a mod on a ebike. so immissed call back. but once i PLACE ORDER. hopefully get before thanksgiving. i will DIFFENTLY need a link for those turn signals. i have great blue bar end mirrors(carbon). everything is keeping it light cause imbigger and im buying some type off trailer to tow rascal plus when in backcountry with game. im hoping these MACHINE get help me get out on weekends but during the wek as you would say i think"can be a rode warrior" tot that affect. thx again jim i cant wait to be part of this small FAMILY. cant wait for my "EPIC RIDES"
I am older than Santa 🎅 I can’t lift my ecell ebike it’s too heavy, I keep everything I need to repair my ebike in the bags plus food 🍱. I am getting stronger and sexy as I get older just you watch and see 👴 .

Yes 35 mph is current top speed.
Dude take my advice buy yourself an extra controller seriously 😐 because yours will eventually go bad and it takes about 6 months to get a new one. That’s a long time to wait for something from ecell. It cost about $127.
You can also hide in the weeds and watch me ride my ecell ebike seriously 😒 I probably won’t see you seriously 😐
