I am pretty new to Movie Fights and have been binge watching all the old episodes. I swear a Fast and Furious / Transformers cover-over has been pitched before by someone!
It was a question I think what franchise should cross over with fast and furious and someone said transformers?
+Jeff Monroe doesn't he always? Mundy would cast the rock as everyone in everything...can't say i wouldn't watch it though :/
Selena Gomez? Seriously?
+Adam I'd like to think that he was either High AF or just screwing with us.
All of their choices were awful. Look if they make a Batgirl, they're gonna START with Barbara Gordon.
DOUG BENSON! THIS IS A NICE SURPRISE!
yeah, he never comes to actually fight, just to entertain, and I am okay with that, since he is 1000000 times better than Alicia Malone...
independence day was so bad. i contemplated getting up and getting a refund
It was pretty bad, especially the person playing Dylan Hiller, but nostalgia kept me in my seet though. Had too much fun with the first one
I thought some of the acting was bad and people said unrealistic things to some scenarios and a lot of cheese parts and I think Liam hemsworth character was a cocky douche bag but the action was pretty good and it was nostalgic
What defines a garbage fire? Batman Vs Superman. That should be the standard by which every bad movie should be judged.
+rockriku i say thor the dark world , and with the ultimate Cut is BvS a good movie now.
TOKAGERO1 I know my opinion there are far worse character assassinations in comic book movies than Ultron and far worse comic book movies.
that movie is average at worst, jack and Jill would be the standard to judge bad movies by. you just sound like a Butt hurt fanboy
martin wright No one will take Jaden Smith serious after that. That's one reason why Will Smith was never back for ID sequel.
This was actually an enjoyable fight this time as the competitors were having fun and not trying to yell over each other the whole time. I did think it was pretty fun that Doug seemed like he was stoned out of his mind the entire time yet still acquitted himself quite well.
#BoycottTransformers. Come on guys lets get started now so by the time the movie comes out no one will see it!
be grateful it exists. If u don't like, dont watch it. or wait for another reboot
It doesn't depend on us anymore. It's up to China and you know they're going to see it in droves, and the next one after that.
No, don't be grateful it exists. It's corporate trash. Wtf is this attitude? I am in no way grateful for over-long product placement movies with no story or characters.
I can't believe nobody said "X-men First Class" in the best prequel question... Do you even movie, bro?
I thought of that one later, but only when the producer was flipping through some books and one of them was Days of Future Past, and then I remembered First Class was a prequel. Up to that point I was blanking right along with them, because so few prequels are marketed as "prequels," apart from Star Wars; so I don't think of them in those terms.
I never knew Temple of Doom was considered a prequel, or set before Raiders.
Days of Future Past turned out to be the true, soft-reboot of continuity, but still established that it was one contiguous, if albeit convoluted narrative. And since First Class takes place at an earlier point in the already established narrative, it's a prequel.
Just saw Independence Day: Resurgence
And I liked it
Me too, it wasn't the best and didn't hold a candle to the first but it wasn't the worst I've ever seen.
They over did the hate on this movie. I liked it. Independence day and ID4 Resurgence WERE BOTH GOOD. Will Smith should of came back tho. but at least he is in suicide squad!
Does anyone else not like the first Independence Day? The second one was wayyy shittier but I didn't like the first one either
I liked independence day as a kid, but now I can see how awful it truly is. I don't know how people can defend it
But, I love bad movies lol I own Batman & Robin on blu ray steelbook & Howard the Duck lol xD
I'm about to Get Doug and enjoy this.
+Syrup & Pancakes that's a fantastic idea but who would be the third?
Doug was so Doug he gave up the points and was like, "points? shit man I just hated independence day" stay doug.
Glad someone brought up the Starship Troopers comparison. When I saw the Area 51 defenders shooting at the aliens, I immediately thought of that one scene when the roughnecks were trying to hold off the bugs at the abandoned base.
I really enjoy these movie fights keep em comin!
Just add the Rock in Transformers. It's just decorum at this point.
Funny you should say that, because the Rock actually did voice acting in one episode of a Transformers cartoon
I feel like anyone who gets on the fan cam gets effectively ignored for the most part when they don't just sit there silent
This was a great fight!! I hope they all come back
I know I'm late with this. Refused watching this until I saw ID4R and I finally saw it.... loved it. Had to look this video back up to hear what these guys thought of it. I loved it.
Yeah when you start to root for the bad guys that's when the movie is officially f#cked
This was a particularly good episode guys! It's great when the fighters have good chemistry.
This was a great regular episode (no gimmicks) with 3 great fighters who kept things fun, light, and hysterical. 3 comedians on 1 episode was a great idea, and I thought they all had good chemistry. Keep up the good work!
Enjoyable episode of Movie Fights. It's really obvious, at least to me, that Mark was the veteran fighter. He really brought it and wasn't holding any punches. Doug and Glickman might not have been as aggressive as Mark, but they were still funny and entertaining, though. And why was the fan wearing a suit?? This is Movie Fights, not an interview for an internship at the White House!!
This was a solid episode, always love to see Mark Ellis and Doug Benson on
Back to the basics. This was a great episode!
Dude, Doug and Stephen were super funny. Bring them back. Mark is always great too.
How about paying credit to the silver screen with time period movie fights? Pick 60s or until 80s or maybe include film schools via topical questions? Only cred nonblockbuster movies get is when Hal compares something to Citizen Cane :) I want Kurosawa, Kim Ki-Duk and Tarkovski in Movie fights :)
True, still - I believe - it could be more interesting than Avengers in every single Movie Fights for like two years it feels..
+Lord Baelish I don't expect miracles. Yet there are a bunch of movie fans here, not just blockbuster crunchers. A nod to the art of the cinema once in a while would please many. And stop killing people and scheming and all! :)
+Mat and Gaz It's not that people watching the fights won't know that stuff, it's that SJ themselves don't know it. Other than Dan and Alicia (and maybe Ken) they only know comic-book movies and blockbusters.
Personally,I think your idea is really good but would only happen if Cineflix(or Cinefix,I always misspell that) decided to create a show on the movie fights model, something I would love but consider at best improbable
Very fun fight, that's 3 in a row, keep it up :D
This is now one of my favorite Movie Fights
This day in age it seems people can't enjoy movies, me personally I enjoyed Independence Day, it seems every movie with bad criticism and reviews I've seen this year I enjoyed lol glad I'm not a critic and can enjoy movies makes life happier
"This day in age it seems people can't enjoy movies..." That is false. Audiences have just gotten wiser for the most part and aren't as eager to tolerate or support bad movies that are clear cash grabs
Part of it is if you pay $15 bucks to see a movie, it better be worth it. When movies were cheaper, people didn't care as much.
the worst part of Independence Day Resurgence is the last line at the end
"We are gonna kick some SERIOUS alien ass...."
I'm only 30 minutes in, but this is one of my favorite Movie Fights ever. Such a good cast for this one. Everyone's having a good time bullshitting about movies that don't matter, which is what I tune in to watch.
Can someone tweet out the full screen junkies movie poster? The one with the actors playing members of SJ? It's really cool but I've only been able to see part of it
Kevin Smith as Andy
Justin Timberlake as Dan
Paul Rubens as Hal
John Goodman is Nick
Bryce Dallas Howard is Alicia
Martin Starr is Joe Starr
Seth Green as Spencer
Will Forte as Ken
David Strathaim as Scott Mantz
Bruce Willis as JTE
And Will Sasso as Jon Bailey
The best prequels are the Hobbit movies.
+Smokey McJoint I think people like it cus of all the practical stunts in it and that it isn't a superhero movie
The Hobbit part one was good. Two was bad. 3 was a steaming pile of flaming horse shit
YES! when asked about best prequel I could only think of Prometheus. I'm glad they brought it up
I like how the guy on fan cam actually participated a little bit. Even though he said 1 line per fight it was cool to see
Finally a person on the fan cam that doesn't act like a piece of furniture
I feel for Glickman. He has some great choices, but you can tell there's some difficulty articulating his points. It's a rough deal, and I can relate.
why can't all movie fights be like this, this was so pleasant and fun I loved it
Is it just me or does Doug always look high as a plane!
if he looks high as a plane its cause he's high as a plane. He has a show where he gets smokes with people. It's rad
I mean...this is the same guy who made the documentary "Super High Me" so if that's any indication...
The guy has or had a show on youtube called "Getting Doug with high" where he smokes with other comedians
I love Independence Day Resurgence, just saying
OMG, "spring break things up" LOL
Mr Glickman needs to be on more just because of his infectious honest laugh! Love him!!!
So with IDR bombing along with several other sequels so far this summer, does this mean the end of unnecessary sequels?
***** Okay, so far the good sequels (Civil War, Dory, and later Bourne) have made a ton of money, but most terrible ones (Alice, TMNT2, Huntsman) were flops. At least Hollywood can learn to make their movies better if they want to stop losing money.
A movie more than 10 years old that you want to see a sequel...
Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World
The bit between the beginning and the end.
Arent all the songs from Oz classics?
No.
When she meets the munchkins and when she enters the Emerald City and gets a makeover...
...those aren't classics.
*****
Being able to *hum* every tune from a musical does not make every song in that musical a 'classic.' (Let's not ignore the fact that music and its lyrics are the easiest things to commit to memory no matter how good or bad their quality).
I can sing the Thong Song word for word and I haven't heard it in its entirety in almost 10 years. The Thong Song is not a classic.
Just get rid of every actor in the movie (Transformers 5) and add either Jim Carrey or Dave Chappelle as a SOLE human character
No thanks I don't want people with actual talent like Jim Carrey and Dave Chappelle getting ruined by michael bay. You want to improve the transformers series get rid of Bay and the screen writers and hire people who can actually write and direct
The only reason I bought a ticket to see it was for Jeff Goldblum, I love the guy.
During Steven's pitch for transformers with Vin Diesel I couldn't stop thinking of a transformer yelling "Ride me!" to Toretto like the Lion in Narnia
I don't know why these need to be 90 minutes long. Split each segment up into its own video.
why don't you just watch each round separately and take little naps in between...
You're hilarious, but your approach doesn't make sense. First off, they don't indicate where each round ends, and second by dividing up the videos they allow people to watch the sections they're interested in, instead of people thinking "i don't want to watch this entire thing" and leaving right away. It's a pretty straightforward strategy that most channels use. Most youtube channels do not regularly if ever have 90 minute videos with a bunch of topics grouped into one thing for this very reason.
They tell you when each round ends though. Look in the description. I just skip to the next time slot if I really don't want to watch one. It's all there. You can do that too. :)
+Artistry Artistry they sorta do by telling us where each one begins in the description
Doug is drunk and/or high as heck
Damn Mark, Thursday Win Movie Fights. Friday Win Schmoedown. Thats how you start a weekend lol.
Not only is "Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom" a prequel, but Steven Spielberg might have been the first person to have used the word "prequel" in reference to movies. I was 14 years old when that movie came out, and I remember reading an interview from with Spielberg where he said something like, "It takes place before Raiders, so maybe instead of a 'sequel' it should be called a 'prequel'."... Maybe he didn't coin the term, but it was the first time I was exposed to it.
I blinked for a second, when I saw Gustavo Rocque, didn't believe my eyes. Then I cheered.
Doug is absolutely hilarious. Thanks for the laughs. I say Good day sir!
Round 4 was really fun with Choose a movie with a legendary character in a completely different setting.
Best episode in a long time. I couldn't stop laughing. Ellis is always great. Benson, OMG, you are fuggin hillarious. I'm going to follow your podcast just because of your appearance here. you are absolutely a riot.
That Norman Bates comedian pitch was basically just The King Of Comedy.
Great episode.... Very funny
one of the best fights in months
I love Doug's understated humor. Good episode!
The Legend of Tarzan is easily my favorite film of the year so far.
Screen Junkies now HAVE TO make an honest trailer of Independence Day: Resurgence. The sheer ridiculousness of this movie is of the charts! And so would the amount of Jon Bailey- voiced jokes be in an ID:R honest trailer.
Doug "The Guy Who Was in Friends That Time" Benson is a great guest. You should have him on with Mike "The Guy Who Was in That Progressive Commercial That Time" Carlson. Many laughs would be had.
Time Traveler EINSTEIN??? That is an awesome movie concept. Someone should make it.
Did anyone notice the fact the box quote for never say never was by Scott Mantz
Inconceivable! Books to movies - I've got to go with 'The Princess Bride'.
Congratulations Baby Carrots. Glad you didn't spoil it Thursday. good work
Happy to see Mark back on the show!
someone needs to write and record "singing in the pain"!
Can't wait for the ghostbusters rewiew XD
For the prequel question he should have said "Days of Future Past"
Yes, a sequel to First Class... but it is also a prequel to the original X-Men films.
Everytime Benson is on the show, I know I recognize him from somewhere and I have finally realized that he was in like one episode of Friends
***** I believe it's the one with the party, where Rachel isn't invited to her crush's party so pretends she has a gala so it seems like she's real productive
I would've loved to see the Earth blow up at the end of Resurgence. Put all of us watching the movie out of our misery
Holy shit, there's another hour of this.
I just had a vision of Dom driving bumblebee and I now need to see this movie.
Mark Ellis! What a pleasant surprise, plus Doug Benson as a bonus! :D
did anyone else notice the girl in the red dress in the pic of willy wonka's choco factory from the the third fight?? lol
Best film fights in ages, get this lot back on again! Good to see them just have a laugh and not taking it seriously rather than the usual loud obnoxious serious nerd fights lol
Guy arguing for HP: CoS should have brought out the magic that the film had on screen. I saw it when I was younger than 12 I think, and that magical world is what stuck with me the most to this day.
you guys should do a video about what is the deadliest parasite in science fiction/horror like the thing, thrle blob, xenonorphs, the zerg, the flood and necromorphs etc.
Oblivion Smith I'm not sure what you're trying to say.
in this caae deadliest would be what would successfully destroy a more advanced civilization quicker like 2 different snake venoms can be deadly but one can be dealier because less venom is needed to be fatal or one kills quicker
Or if you're trying to say that the fact that one would eventually crowned the deadliest after the debate and analysis of their abilities strength/weaknesses is a reason not to analyze them in the first place?
When will we have a High Movie Fights hosted by Doug Benson, it would never end!!!!!
I loved BvS, 8/10 after a lot of thought. Extended cut was phenomenal, but it does depend if you use superhero movies as a way of complete escapism or not.
Andy, I love you! 😘Even on the ocasions when I disagree with your pick, I still love you. You're awesome. I'm also jealous of your graphic shirt collection.
I really liked this episode. Doug and Mark are always entertaining.
andy... you guys really gotta get back to regular old movie fights where the fighters take thier arguments seriously. I mean, it was fun for a while, but now I think we all want our golden fights back...thx!
"Sorcerer's Stone" from "Philosopher's Stone" was renamed in America because in America we identify the word philosopher almost exclusively with people like Socrates, Aristotle, Plato etc. It has a different meaning in America. A philosopher is not identified with magic. Philosophers are just people who offer views or theories on profound questions in ethics, metaphysics, logic, and other related fields. In the UK, "Philosopher" is identified with Magic where it is not in the US. Using the word sorcerer, makes it clear that the book is about magic. Personally, I also think it sounds better. It's not that Americans aren't educated, it's just we have different meanings for some words here.
"philosopher's stone" as a phrase is well-known as being the key to transmuting lead into gold, and/or other things like creating the elixir of life that JK Rowling's version was. Unless I'm totally mistaken, "philosopher" without any other context in modern UK English has zero implication of magic.
I liked the movie.
I chuckled at the Moon scene again, first a symbol of human achievement (moon landing, then moonbase with doom laser) and then the scene of OMG WTF aliens.
I liked the little tidbits with the charachters returning, liked demntia president Pullmann pull himself together for the final ride.
Goldblum was adorable, his das was the same "huh" dad we saw in 1996....
A little self dig with both the landmark comment and the fact that they did not blow up the white house again....
THe films pacing was fast and moved through its set peices fast with no downtime (compare to 2012 and its massive snooze hours....).
Effects were good. Cluttering was not really bothersome since, well the world contains a shit ton of clutter...
Love the alien queen going into battle in a combat suit instead of dunno, iron manning it nude.
Personally, i'd love for a third movie to move into the interstellar war phase....
I enjoyed it. Sure it could have done more, but all in all it was exactly what I expected in a sequel: Not as good as the first but still a good watch
I've forgotten how good Mark Ellis is. Real high-class fighter and a pleasure to listen to
What the gloop is that Veruca Salt impersonator doing in the screen shot thrown up during round 3?! Haha looks to me like Emma Roberts but not quite.....so Gemma Roberts! You're going places Gemma!
Well done Mark Ellis, you were fantastic! x
the intro montage to the fights should include that but in kingsman where galahad is like "are we going to stand here all day or are we going to fight!"
bit*
