Hello! Mum of soon to be six under seven with a truck driving husband who leaves at 4am here. I do all these things (except toy rotation which is a great idea) too and it's the only way I can survive getting 5 kids out the door with the house not being in a shambles everyday. Also just knowing that this season of little kids will be over before we know it and it will get easier as kids get older and more capable and independent. It's a joy to be able to provide a happy safe, healthy environment for my family even if it means giving up personal relaxation and recreation at times.
Although, pray for me as I approach newborn life again.

Me and my husband always make sure the kitchen is clean, house hoovered, trash taken out, laundry going / put away before we leave the house to go somewhere ( even if it's just to visit family or friends for 2 hours ). That way we come back and don't have to do anything other than put jackets and shoes away. Especially when we come back just before bed time. That way we can focus both on putting kids to bed and after we can rest together

That sounds so nice. When we go on holiday I always do this. But when we visit family or go to an event in the weekends, we always end up running late and often leaving the house a mess. Even though I love coming home to a clean home. Waking up a bit earlier would def. help, but we have so little sleep already that I dont know if I can do it.

An olde but a goodie - while you’re cooking, clean up as you go along. Less dishes to load / wash after dinner and just less mess / stress in general.
After we had our baby I instituted a new house rule, no dishes in the sink...meaning if a dish or cup is dishwasher safe it goes directly in the dishwasher after your done using it. There's plenty of items that can't be put in the dishwasher so those can be left in the sink, but otherwise right in the dishwasher. This method cuts down on A LOT of clutter in the kitchen.
Also, try to have a clock in every room. They don’t have to be big clocks, but when you have a kid it helps you keep on schedule plus you don’t have to be chained to your phone all the time!

  • @Kay-tt9wd
    @Kay-tt9wd 3 місяці тому +62

Add an extra 10 minutes per kid to the time it takes to leave the house, get ready for bed, etc. For example, if you have 4 kids and you have to leave the house at 8:30 in order to be on time, then start the process of leaving at 7:50 😂. I personally double the time I think it's going to take to get my 4 kids to bed. If lights-out is at 8:30, I start at 7:00. Kids are SO GOOD at swallowing time. Also, set an alarm for when it's time to leave the house or go to bed, or whatever. It really gets people moving when they hear an alarm go off!

My parents would have us out of the house as 4 kids and we were always 15 to 30 min early. People were surprised and wondered how we did it as a family of 6. Prepping for the outing the night before is what did it. Preparing the kids and telling them expectations. Hustling and getting ready to go hours before going.

My husband and I have now been married 6 months and have been having more & more discussions on starting trying for kids next year. I have felt such a calling this year to work on preparing myself for being a mother and continuing to love my husband and being the best wife I can be.
Your videos have brought me peace, motivation, advice, and some good laughs haha
I really admire how you serve God and your family, and care for your home.

Since I like to thrift I keep a running list of what I have and what I want to find in the next size up for all of my kids in the notes in my phone.

I think my biggest hack is to minimize things around the home. Declutter as much as possible so things run more smoothly. Less options means less decision fatigue for me. I have simplified my kids clothing and it’s just made laundry and getting them ready for the day so much easier!

I will have to try meal planning & closing my kitchen!!! I always wake up before the kids, do the laundry & dishes everyday, & clean as I go. It’s super easy! I just put a few drops in most loads. I’ve never used one and not liked it. It’s also a boost to put essential oils on dryer balls.

Am I weird, or does anyone else do a lot less laundry? I don't find myself doing more than 2 loads a week - husbands work clothes, towels, occasional sheet or pillow case, 3 dirty toddlers, on a farm. I guess I do live in a teeny space that doesn't have many fabrics, curtains, tablecloths etc...but still :) I do have a big machine!

Question, can you nurse in that milk maid style dress?? It is gorgeous and I want to get one, but I nurse. So it's sooo hard to find dresses that are nursing friendly!

As a mama to four sweet boys, I agree with every single thing you said! Now , I just need to apply these things to our daily routine!
Also, I found that it's so helpful to get all of our clothing out for church the night or a few nights before. As well as prepping breakfast, etc. Sunday mornings can be VERY busy for us. 😅

Launry is fine, folding is the monster in our house.

    • @Sparcle5

I saw a hack where you have separate small laundry bins, and as soon as you take the clothes out of the dryer, you immediately separate them by person/room that they go to. Then you take that bin into that room. Next time you were in that room, you put those clothes away or do a little bit at a time. there’s nothing wrong with clean clothes sitting in laundry bin for you to pull out either. Clothes don’t really even have to be folded. Unless your kids wear dress shirts every day, you don’t need to worry aBout wrinkles. My toddler loves to take his folded clothes out of bins and throw them all over the floor, so I stopped folding them, and just put them in to their assigned places instead. This has helped immensely

@Sparcle5 ,thanks I have some strategies as well. I will try this bin strategy for my kids stuff. It is nice to know that my problems are not only mine and other people put thought to the same subjects...
