- In a move supported by both parties, the Biden administration is imposing heavy taxes on some products from China. President Biden is announcing new tariffs on $18 billion worth of Chinese-made products like electrical vehicles, semiconductors, batteries, steel and aluminum.

Wasn’t this the same thing Trump did but was scrutinized for doing it simply because he’s Trump?
Exactly. Trump's tariffs were to burden cheap steel coming from China and the Trump haters went ballistic: "tariffs are just a tax on consumers"'. "tariffs don't work", "steel is a worldwide commodity, "they'll just sell cheap steel to our competitors", etc. Biden for all his erasure of Trump policy never eliminated Trump's steel tariffs, they are still in place today. And now Biden is copying Trump by burdening China's excess EV cars hoping that Americans will buy Fords and Teslas instead, all the while offering more inflationary tax credits to buy any EV from any country. People need to read, and remember, then decide whether Trump's policies put America first or benefit China first.

So from 1776 to 1913 everybody relied on the fact that tariffs on other country's goods did bring in needed money and did protect American industry from being undermined by hostile nations. You embarrass yourself when you repeat the Trump Derangement Syndrome lies to disparage Trump and tariffs as a tool used to assure fairness in the global marketplace.
