Im a young man in the process of applying for university but im unsure of what degree to pursue. I want to pursue a degree that has the job security and can provide financial freedom in the jamaican economy for the next 10 years( because i want to take in account the years spent in university). What do you guys think I should do?
Came across this video the right time you’re literally talking about my situation, paid off my slb last year, want to buy a car and move out this year, have savings but no investments
Great advise. For those who work in Jamaica, maximize your Pension contributions ..instead of paying only 5%...pay 10%. Passive income right here...pure gold 🙌
10:59 Renting a home is unwise.... Rent is a liability so, it would be wiser to mortgage a home.... You could even rent your own home to pay off the mortgage or just pay it off with some stock dividends.
Huge blanket statement that doesn’t reflect the current market for most. Most can’t afford 100-200k mortgage, plus I doubt you can find any mortgage lower. If rent is what you can afford then that is what makes sense financially. Let’s say you buy a place and mortgage is 100k and lucky you get it rent for that. How about repairs and maintenance and security fees? Plus since you rent out the place you still have to be paying rent yourself for the place you are at.
Not saying it’s impossible but it’s not applicable to most. Renting isn’t bad and ownership isn’t bad, it just depends on the persons financial circumstances
@@juniormarshallhastings723 my dear you are forgetting that MOST people do not have the huge downpayment. Also there are many responsibilities/expenses that come with home ownership. Worthy to note the equity in owning though is a great thing.
Love this video Me and sailor kinda ina the same boat I have no debt but i have everything in the market this year I want to build a emergency fund. Want a car but telling my self it is too expensive 😂
Well you have assets which are your investments. Set the goal to make the emergency fund this year, figure out your fixed cost and then save 3-6 months of it. Trust me I understand the car thing because I love them, but right now I look at it for its utility and not its flashiness (even though I drive a nice accord 🤦)
@DemetressFairman yeah man I worked out how much I need for 3-6 months already intending on building it out this year as well as stay consistent in investing
New subscriber here… I work in the us and on average I make 300 us per day.. but sometime I make even 600 per day… and I’m interested in getting a house in Jamaica 🇯🇲 what financial advice could u give to me ???
@ 6 days per week.. after tax and bills I’ll have 4,000 us per fortnight that’s net pay… I save 3,500 every 2 weeks…. No kids no major responsibilities…

Depends on your core subjects in high school but if you can get into engineering, computer science ( AI, cybersecurity etc) and finance then you should be good. Medicine if you have the money but I really think you should do some research on each field
@DemetressFairman I'm doing biology, chemistry and management of business and while I do want to apply for medicine and I hope GOD takes me there (because I don't have the money) I want the next best bet that will guarantee me the job security and financial freedom for the next 5-10 years. I'm thinking about chemical or electrical engineering and economics but I'm still not sure what's my best bet in this economy
@DemetressFairman Damn, reason I ask is because my friend is a copywriter and he wants to get an online job in Jamaica. Looks like I have to tell him to go create a job post on LinkedIn.
Appreciate this, been seeing similar videos but with Americans, etc. Really good to see one with our own economy and job market, big up yourself 2025 just start but you're killing it so far
Yeap I had the idea awhile now and saw someone local gather the info so I said why not. I guess I’ll make a form where people can fill out and I review theirs
This feels like financial audit lol Love it!
lol nah cuss out people like Caleb though
@@DemetressFairman😂😂😂
It's not how much you make, it's how much you Save and Invest
Wise words.
Golden rule right here

Nowadays its how much you invest.
Discipline today leads to more options tomorrow.

The average rent in Kgn is $150k and the average mortgage is $50k.... Why is rent better?

JMMB isn’t as safe as most would think. Please ensure that there isn’t a card link to any account you have with that bank.

I know jmmb has their bonus saver account, where you get more interest with a bigger deposit

Unfortunately I don’t know

How to send you my finances so you can make a video about it
Next weeks video I’ll be posting the form so look out for it
Is this a good amount to make per month? Does most Jamaican make this much
I would say yes but then it depends on where you plan to live
Would like to see more
Keep it up
I'm excited for this sailor cause if he follows the recommendations given, he'll be off to an amazing start. And I'm here for this new series
Thank you for watching Shan 👌🏾
Good there is some used car dealers even on Instagram,
Yea man a lot of them, just be sure to not get scammed
@DemetressFairman yeah that true
@DemetressFairman see about 3 legit ones
Work fi six months and stay home for two months no need for a car but that’s just me
That sounds very reasonable
How can I send u my information, so you can take a look at it and give opinion??
