I love this episode because the below the line guys never get the limelight. Dominic and Conner were so engaged and enthusiastic to learn about what he did!
He's great, and I love hearing about how the show came together. So much more complicated with all the moving parts than I would think. And to give credit to all the behind the scenes people who really made the show work.
Well, these behind-the-scenes guys usually don't need to PR talk, so they often are more blunt in their stories and opinions and more straight forward from the hip.
Something I'm guilty of doing is supremely underrating and underappreciating sfx/vfx in sci-fi shows so I was really grateful for Ron's perspectives and experiences behind the scenes. Also appreciated Dom, Connor and Erica asking some specific questions that would shed light for some of us who are laypeople in the audience that we may not have understood or got w/o them jumping in with those questions. Thanks so much for this interview, guys!
Greatest Trek Chat Cast Ever! - Always enjoy every episode immensely! Thanks Shuttlepod Show crew for such an invigorating insight into all your guests, each one special :)
This podcast just gets better and better! Great show. It's no small feat to interview someone for nearly 2 hours yet keep it so tight that the time just flies, yet that's exactly what you did here. I easily could've listened for another hour. A big thank you to Ronald B. Moore for coming on and sharing all of his stories and expertise!
I had the pleasure of shaking hands with CONNOR TRINNEER in Brazil a few years ago. A serious, pleasant person. Thanks Trinneer for the opportunity to meet you and present with a Pelé shirt. I Hope you enjoyed it. Your work (and Jolene) on an episode of Enterprise helped me get through a very delicate moment in my life. I wish you much health and happiness.
Ron has got to be one of the most entertaining as well as informative individuals you've had. I've enjoyed them all but he is the total package and so down to earth! (And OMG WOODFORD RESERVE!!)
Ronald puts the science into science fiction. What a passionate, interesting and highly knowledgeable guy. Its great to shine a BIG light on his work in the Trek universe. i really hope there are another hundred people just like him behind the scenes and just as passionate working on Trek today. Simply captivating.
We always seem to concentrate on the Nimoys, the Stewarts, the Visitors, but it's the guys like Moore who truly make the magic happen. Kudos for this episode.
I have to say kudos, props, high fives to you all for this show. You make it not only fun but interesting and engaging to hear the history of each person that comes in but also their special relationship with Star Trek and in some cases the interactions you had with them during the shows and after. I can only hope you continue to prosper and enjoy a new type of success with this medium, and bring many many shows and guests to the broadcast in the future! Ronald’s vast knowledge of the evolution of effects was intriguing to hear and Dominic and Connor bring a lighthearted and heartfelt warmth to the interviews that is inviting and refreshing. ALL involved should be proud!!!!
Just got to say, this was way, _WAY_ more interesting than I thought it was going to be. Ron is a great orator and both Dominic and Connor were asking really good questions (especially Dominic).
It was nice to get such insights into the special effects. In addition, you have given someone the opportunity to shine, who otherwise contributes immensely in the shadows to the fact that shows like Enterprise work and fascinate! That's cool!
Hands up from everybody who realized waaay to late that it’s a show with THIS Ron and not THE OTHER Ron 🖖🏻 Anyway, great guest, great show, hoping for many more seasons, there are so many more needed to take a seat in this show.
I listen to so many Star Trek podcasts and UA-cam casts that I get a little overloaded and sometimes slow down listening/watching. I felt this way before listening to both Gates and Ron’s episodes but in both cases found myself enthralled. The interview and the coverage of topics always makes it fresh. I’m hoping I’ll see that photo that Ron talked about seeing on Desilu studios about Star Trek on the website. Anyway, as always - thank you for what you are presenting to us sci-fi fans.
Do not pass on this episode!!!!!! I almost scrolled past, but this turned out to be one of my favorite episodes so far. I so appreciated his perspectives and unvarnished stories. He seemed to be enjoying himself and "god bless him" for attempting to describe his art and process for all of the mouth breathers (namely me). Thank you for having him on. He was such a delight.
That was such a fun as well as informative episode. So great to highlight the creatives that make these shows so awesome by their incredible work that is at its best when it supports the story rather than takes the spotlight. ❤️🇦🇺🖖🏼
Very cool show! Great new studio layout too, open & intimate. Amazing, hearing about Ronald B Moore's visual effects. I loved watching Enterprise when it came on, now I'll see phaser & force field pom pom effects with new eyes! Gotta watch again to see those & the poop planet. Lol
Such a great episode! Great stories and to hear about the blood and sweat they put into the shows. Amazing. So much respect. Now let's get Ron D Moore in here and then we can ask the Battlestar questions! :D But seriously though, we'd love to see and hear from Ronnie D!
Greetings from Bulgaria! What an amazing episode. It was lovely to hear all those stories from Ron and in fact how time consuming was to do visual effects in those days. Because of people like Ron, Dan Curry, Rick Sternbach, Rob Legato, John Knoll and all the rest, as a kid I was inspired and driven to learn about design and motion graphics. Now, I have my own small design studio, where I do motion design and 3D. All those interviews with these guys, bits and pieces of information I was able to find in the early days of Internet help me out and motivated me to get in that field. Enormous Thank you and will always be grateful for giving me this drive and inspiration!
I’ll never watch Ghostbusters again and not think of this brilliant interview. This was so eye opening and exciting. Great show you guys!!! Just brilliant…
Oh man, my mind was totally blown because I was thinking, "THAT'S Ronald Moore the writer of classic episodes like 'Relics'?" But that is Ronald D Moore, whereas this is Ronald B Moore.
What an absolute legend! He was so ooooo great, fun and the whole groups energy was electric, such a riotous laugh. Thank you Ronald B.Moore. I had no idea what and how much effort went into what we all take for granted as a ship passing by a station. The shit planet, I almost howled with laughter. Had some very strange looks. I replied don't worry, it was shit. Couldn't help myself
This episode was a particularly great one. Nice job and great stories. While much of what Ron was talking about with the photochemical compositing and work with mattes I was familiar with, I think it was great that Dom and Connor stopped him and asked, numerous times "what does that mean?" It is easy for those in the know to not realize that not everyone, or even most people, including those in the biz will know how the magic is made.
Connor, Dom, Erica and Mark - congrats on another engrossing episode! I've been wondering when we'd get someone from the VFX team on the show and lo and behold you got Ronald on the Pod! Super interesting to hear about all different processes and techniques he's utilized throughout his career. Very cool that some of them he continued to use within the many iterations of Trek he's had a hand in working on. The long hours certainly sounded gruelling, and I can only imagine the amount of patience you'd have to have while working to make sure everything looked just perfect. Ron's opinion about how so much focus in film and television CGI nowadays is all flash and no substance rings very true, especially where Marvel is concerned. (Those poor overworked and underpaid staff...) Love that he just mentioned Threshold after the warp speed trivia question too, it made me laugh. (It's a good episode dammit!) All in all, another awesome episode, I can't to see what next week has in store! Happy Shuttlepod Sunday everyone! 😊🖖💚🍃
Oh man; I used to do 12 hr shifts with 3hr commutes. That was brutal. These guys have me beat!😶 My health took a hit from those days. I can not even imagine what they went thru!
I really enjoyed listening to Ronald B Moore tell his experiences Might have been the best Episode yet Loved hearing his technical stories and the funny ones The D Moore stuff was pretty funny to lol
Ronald B. Moore isn't a household name, but he's no less of a legend. What a brilliant yet down-to-earth man. I could listen to his stories for hours-they're fascinating and he's a hoot (and rather candid😉)!🌟🎬🎥 _"What times we had."_ Tell me Moore! And as a dresser/costumer (Member IATSE Local 764 [Wardrobe]✊), I especially enjoy the behind-the-scenes guests.
I fell for it! I've seen D Moore on other interview shows years ago. I thought, "Awesome, we're going to hear a lot about Kingons today." And then I saw this guy, and I was like, "Oh my God! He has really aged poorly!" Duh! Different guy. I fell for it! Glad I wasn't the only one, though! Great show!
Btw, I made my earlier comment mid-episode, but Mark came in with an interesting question, too (and always appreciate your work behind the camera, Mark!)
This was great stuff, more please. Have really enjoyed hearing all the actor stories but it was really great to get a more "techie" oriented guest on. After all many of us fans are Techies because of Trek.
After growing up with Ronald D Moore, its always fun when even a youtube title pokes fun at Ron. Hope you can get him on the show one day. Great you have B Moore instead, love the effects people getting the credit they deserve. Chris Bricky CUHS 1982 :)
I really enjoy this series, thanks for continuing to bring us the deep cuts from ST history. I was amused tho at how while listening to this episode the day it came out, Amazon listed Ron's book in paperback at $4.58 and I thought oh nice I'll add it to my cart. As it happens, I forgot and just today went back on and saw my cart..... the book is now 20.00. Lol
A lot of laughter in this one; a beautiful thing for sure. Star Trek is more than just a TV show to me, it's a hobby... And I spend a little time (a lot of time) with that hobby pretty much every day. I've always been enthusiastic for the artistry behind the making of its universe and have got as familiar with some choice names of numerous talents behind the scenes as in front of the camera. I would love you guys to score episodes of the Shuttlepod Show guesting the Okudas, Doug Drexler, Rick Sternbach, Dan Curry, Herman Zimmerman, Andy Probert, John Eaves... (just off the cuff).
What a super interesting episode. So good to hear Ron talk about all the technical issues in the makings of an episode, I just love hearing about these things ( I love this as I am a techno nerd), plus the fact that everyone was so relaxed, all that was missing was some nice bottles of South Australian red wine 🍷 on the table, also who thinks of the great titles for each episode? Keep up the great work. Cheers 🍷🍷Ed from South Australia
Wonderful episode. Love hearing from all the actors and directors but man I have been dying to hear some more stories about the effects production. You guys brought up Doug Drexler and Mike Okuda and some of the other technical and prop designers, would be really interesting to hear some of them on the show some time. Also just nice to see someone in the chair who is obviously a huge fan of the series, because with the new shows it sometimes feels like that is missing from some of those key roles.
I loved this talk, I think we need to hear from Scott, Jolene and Linda. Jay Chattaway would be amazing too, he contributed so many amazing musical cues to Star Trek from the debut work he did on TNG's "Tin Man" right through to "Terra Prime" on ENT with the amazing "Scorpion" in between.

Ron was so interesting as a guest! Fabulous time and thanks @ShuttlepodShow ! ❤💛💙🤓🖖🏾
I love this episode because the below the line guys never get the limelight. Dominic and Conner were so engaged and enthusiastic to learn about what he did!
nice to see Dominic in a comfy chair. He must be feeling better.
Wow I was worried this episode might be a bit dull, but it turned out the exact opposite! One of the best guests and conversations so far.
I know what you mean! I loved the picture of sh*t that became a planet! Lol
Ron is amazing to talk to and so kind. He has all sorts of stories to share.
Absolute banger to quote someone
He's great, and I love hearing about how the show came together. So much more complicated with all the moving parts than I would think. And to give credit to all the behind the scenes people who really made the show work.
Well, these behind-the-scenes guys usually don't need to PR talk, so they often are more blunt in their stories and opinions and more straight forward from the hip.
This is great! It's lovely for the stepped on, invisible people to get their say. More!
The great Ronald B. Moore! FAN-TASTIC! Such a great show! I love it!
Ronald is geeking hard!!! Absolutely love the passion. That's how Trek has made me feel since I was a kid.
Same!
Something I'm guilty of doing is supremely underrating and underappreciating sfx/vfx in sci-fi shows so I was really grateful for Ron's perspectives and experiences behind the scenes. Totally agree! I'm only 25 minutes in and have been thinking, "oooh that a good question!" more than a few times already.
what a fabulous interview. Shuttlepod Show should reach out to more of these mostly behind the scenes luminaries while there's time.
Absolutely agree. I’ll never forget the s&$t Planet! 😂
Greatest Trek Chat Cast Ever! - Always enjoy every episode immensely! Thanks Shuttlepod Show crew for such an invigorating insight into all your guests, each one special :)
Wonderful episode and very informing on the parts we don't often get to see.

RIGHT!?
Really enjoyed this one. Especially as a VFX artist, hearing Ron's stories about his work was fantastic.
This will make for a nice Sunday morning. I'll have my coffee and danish on hand ;)
We always seem to concentrate on the Nimoys, the Stewarts, the Visitors, but it's the guys like Moore who truly make the magic happen. Kudos for this episode.
I loved learning about some of the deeper, technical aspects of 'Trek' production. Wonderful show!
What an immensely enjoyable interview with a legend . Great time people !😊
What an important record of Trek history this is, well done.
Thank uou

I am glad I stayed for the whole video. I enjoyed listening to the creative process and behind-the-scenes. Thank you!
Really love the guests that can give more of the behind-the-camera/technical perspective of things!
Always enjoy listening to this podcast. Learning more about the franchise every time.

He mentioned Doug Dexler, yes you should have him on. Great episode, I lol many times at this one.

More and more guests like Mr. Moore, please! Fascinating stuff!
I've watched all of the shuttlepod videos and this one was incredibly interesting and I was glued to this. Love the Special Effects stories!!!
Awesome, thank you!
Ron gave us an education in a very entertaining way. Great guest and important Trek production member.
I’m very happy to hear the stories behind the episodes as well as the cast. Thanks for keeping us entertained!
🤗
Tina
Very cool. I always really enjoy the behind the scenes stuff with the special effects and design folks.
Such a great episode! Great stories and to hear about the blood and sweat they put into the shows. Amazing. So much respect.
Now let's get Ron D Moore in here and then we can ask the Battlestar questions! :D But seriously though, we'd love to see and hear from Ronnie D!
This was great! Filmmaking has come a long way!
Great guest! Wonderful to hear all those behind-the-scenes stories.

Wow - what an entertaining guest! Ron has some stories! Loved it!
Another great show! Thanks to all. 🖖
Fantastic episode, I think Ron has been my favourite guest so far, love the behind the scene stories :)

This is a fantastically honest discussion about advances, flaws, and trouble. Well done
What a lovely, cheeky warm man. Great stuff.
What a wonderful guest! Thank you for bringing Mr. Ron B. on! You are all fantastic ❤️! I love this podcast!
Clip boards are cool! I use them all the time. Ronald B Moore was a great guest. :)
Brilliant episode. Just brilliant. I'd give a lot to be hanging out on the other side of producer Mark and just watching and listening.
Great Episode. Fascinating and hilarious at the same time. Thanks guys.
Thanks! The technical stories are my favorite

Truly fascinating interview! It's because of Mr. Moore that I consider myself a trek ship-nerd. 🖖
I really enjoyed listening to Ronald B Moore tell his experiences
Might have been the best Episode yet
Loved hearing his technical stories and the funny ones
The D Moore stuff was pretty funny to lol
Ronald B. Moore isn't a household name, but he's no less of a legend. What a brilliant yet down-to-earth man. I could listen to his stories for hours-they're fascinating and he's a hoot (and rather candid😉)!🌟🎬🎥

This was a great episode. Mr. Moore was so interesting and another person with fantastic stories.
Good show🎉🎉🎉🎉
Thank you Vernice
Great guest liked learning about creating the visual effects. And Ronald B. is a great guest.
As a old man myself i loved that the "boys" had no clue who Jack Webb was, AND even less what "DI"(drill instructor), meant LOL.
Tech nerd show especial! Added bonus... Erica's outfit makes me feel spring... finally ❤
There's never a dull moment in this show. I laugh my ass off, all thanks to you guys involved.
Hahaha. Awesome
This was another Fantastic Shuttlepod Show,! Not enough props are given to the Spx visual & Special effects guys well Done guys!
Fascinating look at another side of some great shows, used to love Max Headroom, and Ghostbusters is iconic
This is a fantastic conversation and wonderful look into some tv history.
Fascinating guest. Well done team.
Loving how the curtain is pulled back to reveal the inner makings of the world of star trek. Mr. Moore was so fascinating,
Btw, I made my earlier comment mid-episode, but Mark came in with an interesting question, too (and always appreciate your work behind the camera, Mark!)

Best episode! So fun.
Another great episode...Ron is so cool...keep the episodes coming
100% AWESOME!!!!!! Thank you X
Lovely interview with Ron! ❤
A lot of laughter in this one; a beautiful thing for sure.

I love a guy that deals with the realities of going business!

Just started this. The guy is so animated and entertaining- I reckon he could easily be an actor too.
TNG season 2 episode 5: Loud As A Whisper is the episode @35:00 which contains the dog poo planet.
Loved the ravioli monster in the TNG episode "Galaxy's Child". First space C-section, not be confused with Space Seed. Of course you have to start with a space seed before the need for a C-section a while later....
Anyone know which episode(s) has the dog poo planet?
No bloody 'D'!
😄
Another great episode guys and Erica. What's the latest on getting Jolene, Scott, and Linda on the podcast?
I second this motion.
We are working it. We won’t give up!
One of your best podcasts
Thank you!
.... and i've just ordered his book Flying Starships from Amazon, arriving on Friday ;-) Hope Ron still gets the royalties.
excellent guest, this one was such a funny show :)
