The change in songwriters and directors was obvious. The new characters were underdeveloped and music was lackluster. On the bright side, Moana's character wasn't ruined, and it was better than "Wish"!
Of course it wouldn't be as impactful as the first one. Also, if did end up being a series (as it was intended to be in the first place) the storyline would've felt more fleshed out and cohesive. I certainly hope we at least are still getting that Tiana series....
I saw it this morning. In my honest opinion, the first movie is way better. They should've just kept it as a TV show instead of turning it into a movie. I bet Disney is feeling really stupid now
The main goal is to make money. If it is a box office hit as it seems to be they won't feel stupid at all.And you can still find positive reviews for it even though i think it's a mess.
They should have brought back LMM instead of the Rock. It's easy enough to find a soundalike VA, but a lot of the emotional beats happened in the songs in the original, because that's what a good Broadway composer does.
My biggest complaint is the fact that Moana literally had no character development. They had a great opportunity to make it about leadership with the new crew, but they totally squandered that opportunity.
@@vincenthoule5643 I would've LOVED a tv show for her and an unrelated PI musical film in it's stead, especially seeing the characters at the end of the film.
Agree, there's just so much more to explore just to squeeze it in 1 movie. I haven't watched tangled series but it seems to be doing well, maybe they can do that instead.
Agree. At least we could have learn more about Polynesian folklore and with this god hates humans specifically. Maui talked about an history with him. They should have done something similar to what they did with Tangled.
Also adaptations. Dog Man is gonna be a hit! As for the last movie of the year which will be a movie adaptation of Gabby’s dollhouse, while I wouldn’t see it making BANK, I could at least see it make back its money so there’s that
Finally someone says the sequel was decent, if don’t think it’s trash or bad but I don’t think it’s really that good either, especially side character building.
Sequels aren't always bad and Moana 2 is only bad because of Disney's bad choices. Shrek 2, Puss in boots 2, Toy story 2, Kun Fu panda 2 ect... are all great sequels.
Finally some positivity on this movie personally I think it’s just as good as the first and I’m tired of people acting like it would have automatically been better if it was a tv show when making a story shorter more concise is a good thing you should always be looking for ways to combine scenes or throw out anything unimportant if it can function as a film which this does then why not make it one because a it means less time and audience has to spend on it b movies typically get bigger budgets so you have more resources to work with and c making it shorter means less work like this is a win for everyone
Funny how Pixar who's pretty infamous for having a pretty bad sequel track record was able to make a better sequel to Inside Out than anything Disney could ever do in Moana
It makes me kinda sad that it's not as good as i thought it was gonna be. The way it was marketed made me actually really excited to see it, only to hear the villain wasn't a real villain. And the rest has been downhill. Oh well, time to go write my own moana series. Lol
Notice how the track record of the Disney Revival Era is basically like the MCU? 2009-2016 is like the Infinity Saga where we got bangers after bangers. But then post-Moana, the Revival Era started to become like the MCU Multiverse saga
another hard pass......the legacy of Disney studio keep dying, poor Walt, this studio have done everything the man was against to a this point, specially the sequel crap, at least the original sequels to video was a VHS or Blue Ray thing, you could easily ignored as non canon, but now is officially made and with the same level of bad quality the direct to dvd had, even the animation, this not look as good as the original man, if only have textures trying to hide the stiff imperfections a direct to D+ series would had, the state of Disney films is just getting worse and worse, I will avoid this one like a plague even if is not as bad as wish, the fact that this was RUSH into production, and frankensteined from a streaming series, if disney does money from this vile practice........the future of this company is way more bleak I wanted to admit.
The art is good but the relation between the characters doesn't go through.I felt more emotions watching Wish than watching this. And Wicked is at the very least 5 times more emotional than this. The batgirl is interesting but she then disappears and is never seen again. The main villain in the end is just a cloud. On the good side i loved some of the jokes and some of the creatures.I didn't like the Maui character much in this film compared to the first film. They really under cooked this project.
Please tell me Moana 2 is a success, in other words, not a disaster like the modern Disney movies, Ralph Breaks the Internet, Wish, and Strange World in this case (generation), and I still can't believe they're actually making a live action version of the first movie, as in, this is one of the reasons why some movies and TV studios are actually getting worse, because of bad writing, unnecessary storylines and characters, and cash grabbers.🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊
@wizardoferror9942 but I just saw the video and he didn't hate It. Even though I hate Aldone cause he's a schaff ripoff and called endgame terrible and hates the little mermaid remake when it's good

I hope it earns a lot of cash at the box office
@olleselin I hope it's doesn't make too much. It feels like they're setting it up for a third film, and I don't want more mediocrity.
