    All these so called "slum" houses were in fact originally built to highest standards and using the very best materials available. They could have easily been renovated at a fraction of the price the modern "schemes" ended up costing. Their criminal destruction was more to do with destroying the extremely strong community that lived within them

      Completely agree, watched them do exactly the same thing in my own town, destroyed communities that had grown together over a century and more.

    Glasgow was pretty grim in the 70s, I was only a child, my Dad hustled hard 💜

    That's horrific looking living conditions and not all that long ago really. When did these eventually get knocked down?

    Thinking of Frank McCourt's writings in the book he wrote titled "Angela's Ashes" on viewing this excellent though somewhat "gloomy" home footage

      Online the council can furnish the public with all the information they require. encluding drawings and photo's of said buildings. I think the council charge a nomial fee of Two Bob for a copie , it might have gone up to two and six a copie. 😏☘️

    Well,did you notice how clean the washing was,also not a carrier bag in sight all the ladies in those days had message bags of r some called shopping bags, maybe working class in my book first class regards from Greenock 👍🚢

      Absolutely mate I was born in 62 lived in south side till 21 went to London for work .60 now been in Australia last 20 years go back at last once in every 3_years its still home for me greatest people in the world
