    If you don't have a mermaid tail, you can wear swimming fins and hold them together as you swim! Practice makes perfect.
    I'm also on instagram (@stellathesiren) and Twitter (@stellabruggen, which is my regular human account), so you can find me there if you like :)
    Remember to always swim with a buddy who can save you close by, especially when wearing a mermaid tail.
    Music: 'Des Vagues Sur L'eau 4' by Peter Sandberg.
    Shot on a GoPro Hero 6, edited by me.
    The bikini was bought in a local store. The tail was made by me.
    Thank you for reading the description :)

    Two very important things:
    1 train with a fabric tail and get used to it before you try a silicone tail.
    2 learn how to quickly get out of your tail before you start swimming. Pull the fabric down and kick off the monofin by pulling one foot up while pushing the other down. This is a really important skill to have while you're not used to moving in your tail yet, because if something goes wrong you might panic and try to kick your feet only to find them essentially tied together.

    Once again you have masterfully combined true art and incredible performance with valuable wisdom and advice for merfolk and anyone setting up an underwater photo/video shoot - this will be extremely helpful as I prepare to launch my own such project over the next couple of months. I know that I as a merman struggle with the first step (it's not a "knees-only" thing for me but I put too much effort in my ankles to get the most out of my monofin - the "whole-body" suggestion looks incredibly helpful). Thank you for your artistry and assistance, Stella!

    • @StellatheSiren
      @StellatheSiren  6 років тому +3

      Glad you like it, Adam! :) When explaining the swimming, I usually tell people to imagine that the movement originates at the top of their head. It's the head that initiates the movement, the core that brings the power to it and the knees finish it off. It's very tempting to kick with the knees or ankles. Lord knows I still have trouble with it when I'm swimming in natural waters in a heavy tail. Good luck on your project, I'd love to see it when it's done!

    • @musicadamcooke
      @musicadamcooke 6 років тому +3

      I'll be very happy to share it with you and the rest of the mer-community, Stella! I'm also glad to see this particular video showing how effective shallow water can be for these types of projects. Our first round of UW shooting was in a 15-foot-deep pool and while some of it worked out well, I think we'll get more consistent video and images with shallower waters in the next phase. I'll keep you posted, Stella!
