▶️Blues for Alice chord lesson - why is this a blues❓

- 🎵Parker's blues changes in 'Blues for Alice' are very far removed from what most people would say a blues or even a jazz blues goes like. In today's lesson I pick it apart in relation to a typical jazz blues to help illustrate how it's very much built upon your typical jazz blues. I cover:
🔴 Which chords are already in the 'right' place for a blues
🔴 How the other chords are functioning

I searched for an explanation of Bird Blues as I was assigned to learn it by my music teacher. This is, by far, the best I found. Liked and subscribed.
Thank you - glad to be of help :)
I was looking for an explanation about why the descending ii-V sequences work without the I and without leading directly to a diatonic chord, and you explained it so simply and clearly. Thanks! I subbed and took off my comment-blocker just to say this!
Thanks James - appreciate the comment :)
Absolutely great video, thanks so much!!
You're very welcome :)
.Thanks for making the PDF available. Great lesson.
You are welcome Eric :)
nice one Andy
Thanks 👍
Thanks Andy. Looking forward to your next one on soloing over these changes.
Thanks for watching Mike.
So helpful even though I play piano and not guitar! Thank you!
Cheers Steven. Glad it works for pianists also!
Superb.
I'm looking forward.
Still an amazing lesson. Very inspiring.
Thanks Andy I do like the basic Comping as a way to start off. The chords and explanation is easy to follow.
Thank you Stuart. It’s such a fun chord progression. Used to confuse the hell out of me!
Great lesson here, got a lot out of it and I just subscribed!! Bravo! 😊🎼🎸🙋🏻♂️
Thanks for the sub!
Nice Andy youve covered the smilar analysis as Jens Larson but your sound is a little quiet ? but i liked the cord and bar font youve used constructive stuff muchas gracias
You're very welcome - it's a shame about the sound, think I was getting used to a new mic when I made it.
Why is this different from a Jazz blues
It has a lot more changes. You wouldn't get the minor ii-V at the start of those chromatic descending ii-Vs.
