My favorite technique is to spray the cardstock with water. I get the "distinktive" look without the dots. Spray the cardstock a little causes the ink to bleed slightly causing the dots to blend with each other and disappear.

Oooh. I’ll have to try. Might be good with watercolor paper. I’m terrible with the distinctive ink stamps. I’m just not patient enough
