nope. olokun's number is 9. 9 has to do with many orisha - nana, olokun, oya, eggun - all of whom deal with the dead [eggun]. Olokun lost the battle of supremacy over the world when Obatala came to create the world. Then when Olokun became furious and threatened to flood the world, Obatala chained Him/Her to the bottom of the sea. No evils Olokun released. Without Olokun there would be no wealth or blessings. Olokun brings these for us from the bottom of the sea.

I love this video and thank you for addressing the issue of Fermina Gomez(Ocha bi) so many babalawos believe that she stole Olokun from a babalawo when in fact she became a christian missionary so that she could go back and forth to africa gaining the secrets of Lots of Orishas and one of them was Olokun and with the help of Ma Monserrate(obatero) Olokun worship began and many orishas were saved. nice post

I was wondering if you could enter the names of the Olokun family members in the information below your video, alongwith a short description of each one, if possible. I love Olokun. He/she/it demands only the very best, so when I approach it, which is not often, I'm ready to do whatever I can to show my gratitude and devotion. ¡Maferefún Olokun!

It depends on the tradition. Seven is Olokun's number in Regla de Ocha.

I find your videos very interesting and informative. I enjoyed the story of Fermanita Gomez and Olokun. I was always taught that an Olokun from a Babalao is "sealed" and cannot be given by a Santero/a. Also, I know of cases of people who received elekes,Warriors and then Olokun. Afterward, they were told that these were all they would need to receive.

nope. i like the dialogue that is how we learn and we share. I am a santero, Lukumi/Egbado. My sources are what was taught to me by my godparents in Ocha handed down to them from Ma Monseratte Obatero, Granted there are houses where Olokun uses 7 like in the house of Munda Riviera. But generally it is 9. Olokun is not crowned in Cuba nope. Olokun is not a camino of Yemaya. Olokun is the head of the Water Pantheon so to say, but Olokun is a seperate entity from Yemaya.

    Hola
Muchas gracias. Te deseo mucho ashe y firmeza. Suerte en todo.

I am also Regla de Ocha. Are you from Cuba or another country? In Camdomblé, Olokun's number is 9, as it may be in other parts of South America. However, Olokún is one of the paths (caminos) of Yemayá, as Olokun is not crowned. When it's a path of Yemayá (Okute or Asesú), it shares the same number (7). There are numerable sources I can point to - which source are you using? It's healthy to dialogue on this subject as the religion is getting a bit nebulous and contradictory. Peace.

I thought Olokún's number was 7 (the same as Yemaya). Not 9, which is the number of Oya. I'm pretty sure about this. And Olokún is not close to Obatala. It/she/he was chained at the bottom of the ocean by Obatala because Olokún released the evils in the world. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Hello, you said olokun is a King and obviously kings deal with royalty. So how come he would only simple home over your head and not have his true and faithful servants live like him? I'm just asking, not bashing. Look forward to your edification.
