Wow. Great insight. The Emperor is my son's archetype and so I've always struggled a bit with this card. I can't be objective. This was very helpful; thank you.
Yummy. I also really like the LightSeer's Emperor. I get the feeling he doesn't even need to raise his voice, he's always going to find another direction and it's going to blow your mind. 😂
I like how you talked about a specific Emperor card's posture and vibe as the things that make a good Emperor for you. I really relate to that --I don't care about him having to have sceptres and thrones and shields etc. That Lightseer's Emperor is a good one; I dig a modern depiction that doesn't just read "businessman". I really like the Mystical Moments Emperor too. I'm okay with female Emperors as an idea. I forgot, until you showed him, that I also like the Dreamseeker's Emperor -- big and solid, not rash, with dignity. That one female Emperor with cords to the little figures at her feet -- as you said, a depiction of the negative control issues possible with the Emperor! I agree that I don't love cards that seem to focus on a negative potential of the Emperor. That Japaridze Emperor is annoying! For me, I struggle with the card to begin with, and see a lot of shadow potentials, as well as historical (and present) patriarchal and classist systems and control. So I'd much rather have a more neutral or alternative depiction of the Emperor that allows one to interpret positive structure, leadership, experience, power, etc. It's also interesting how we all gather different connotations around phrases as we go through life. I guess I know what you're driving at when you talk about "alpha male" but I almost exclusively associate that phrase with the obsessions of misogynistic dudes on the internet/social media, or scientific studies of animals. In the Emperor, I can see that it can mean he's the top, the leader, but at first listen that phrase brought to mind a shadow aspect -- a brutal, dominating man. I guess that's why I don't love the Pulp tarot's Emperor -- the fist tips the card towards a destructive use of power, for me. I was confused when you referenced "fuck around and find out" because, in my mind, it leans towards being a thing that young, more immature and showboating men say, but then I realized you may have meant it in the sense of a confident warning that he won't tolerate bad behaviour very far, and he can handle himself. Such a good idea to show Emperors that you don't like because you don't think they work well for the card! I very much enjoyed your video!
Great idea to share cards that you don't like! Love what you said about age showing that "I earned this!" energy. I've had troubles with Emperor-type energy before - being resistant to rules I thought were "dumb" - but reflecting on this, I do see these boundaries and rules are to help things (and me) run smoothly. Interesting pair, that the Empress creates freely and the Emperor rules and guides those creations. I love your insights and love that you're doing these videos!! Can't wait to hear your takes on the Hierophant! 💙
I agree with many of your sentiments about the Emperor Amy.. I actually have decided to rehome my Mystical moments deck because I don't resonate with much of the imagery and don't really understand the need for female images in traditional male cards 🤷♀️ an unpopular opinion of mine im sure 😂
I love an unpopular opinion. I usually remove the female kings and Emperor from the deck because it throws off the odds of those cards coming up in a reading compared to other cards.💜
What an insightful video, Amy! I loved every second of it, and learnt from you!💛 I watched your Emperor instalment first at the gym and then re-watched it again back home with a notepad by my side to take a few notes! You have brought important points and qualities of this trump! Thank you!🙏🧡 I love the Light Seer's Emperor too, and I knew the Robin Wood one would make his appearance in your video also!🥰 The spring break sounds fun! Enjoy! ☀🍃

Thank you! This is such a great series that Mascha started. I'm looking forward to hearing your take on the Hierophant too!💜

Of course Robin Wood. Thank you, Mascha, I'm flattered! Loving this series!💜
